This study attempts to explore the activities and performance of industry-academic cooperation with the perspective of the firm that has not been systematically addressed in the previous research. To do this, a survey of university family companies across the country was conducted to draw factors that influence the competencies of firms and universities on the performance of industry-academic cooperation and to compare differences by region. The main results of the study are as follows. First, it was found that the knowledge and technologies that universities retain and the active participation of companies in the activities of university-academic cooperation were the most important contributors to the corporate achievements in industry-academic cooperation. Second, when divided into the Seoul metropolitan area and non-capital area, it was found that there was a difference in the capabilities and performance of industry-academic cooperation between the two regions. Third, it was found that there were significant differences in the capabilities and performance of industry-academic cooperation in five areas. These findings suggest that industry-academic cooperation projects specialized for each region is necessary to enhance the effectiveness of industry-academic cooperation.

Fifteen years have passed since the enactment of the Industrial Technology Innovation Promotion Act, which promoted industry cooperation activities for universities. Therefore, the study analyzes the relationship between the university's industrial cooperation activities and the college graduates' starting salaries and provides policy suggestions on improving the direction of university-industry cooperation. The study used nine-year panel data from Graduates Occupational Mobility Survey (GOMS) to conduct an empirical analysis and found that starting salaries of college graduates were not significantly higher if the university only participated in basic industry cooperation activities. On the other hand, when the quality of university-industry cooperation activities was higher, such as job search support, the starting salary of college graduates was higher. The findings suggest that university-industry cooperation activities must focus on qualitative performances rather than quantitative approaches.

This study analyzed the effect of the competency factors (resources and education competency)on the performance of university-industry cooperation by characteristic of universities through multiple regression model using 202 datasets empirically. The input factors variables used in a research model were characteristics of universities (research oriented/education-oriented universities and public/private universities) and competency factors (resource competency and education competency) of university-industry cooperation. The performance factors of university-industry cooperation were composed of the outcomes of intellectual knowledge asset, technology transfer, spin-off and financial profits. The empirical results show that research-oriented universities and public universities produce a uniter performance of university-industry cooperation than education-oriented universities and private universities, respectively and the competency factors of university-industry cooperation such as resource and education competency also have a positive effect on the performance of university-industry cooperation.
This paper analyzes the factors affecting the relationship characteristics of firms and public research institutes, in-addition to analyzing the effect of relationship characteristics with the industry-public research institute cooperation. We selected factors influencing relationship characteristics of firms and public research institutes based on the study of existing industry-university-institute cooperation. These factors include the willingness of the industry-public research institute cooperation, firm's R&D capabilities, and the firm's perceived public research institutes competence. The relationship between these factors, their relationship characteristics, and the performance of the industry-public research institute cooperation was studied using six hypotheses. In order to test this research model, we conducted a survey on industry-public research institute cooperation firms and received responses from 116 companies. Partial Least Square-Multi Group Analysis (PLS-MGA) was used to test the research model. The results of the empirical analysis show the following results. First, the willingness of the industry-public research institute cooperation, firm's R&D capabilities and firm's perceived public research institutes competence have a positive impact on the relationship characteristics of firms and public research institutes. Second, the relationship characteristics of firms and public research institutes have a positive impact on firm performance in the industry-public research institute cooperation. Third, firm's R&D capabilities and firm's perceived public research institutes competence directly affect firm performance in the industry-public research institute cooperation. These results provide policy and practical implications for enhancing firm performance of the industry-public research institute cooperation.

Family companies are the unique industry-academic cooperation-related systems of Korean universities created by universities to promote various forms of industry-academic cooperation with companies. It is important to figure out the current status of family companies in order to understand the achievements of industrial-academic cooperation projects that have been actively pursued since the early 2000s. A lot of studies on industry-academic cooperation have focused mainly on the university's position. On the contrary, this study focuses on understanding the current status of the family company system and the status of industry-academic cooperation. Introduced in 2004, the Family Company System expanded rapidly as it was used as a performance indicator for college financial support projects related to industry-academic cooperation, with 174,425 companies registered as family companies as of 2017. A survey of family companies registered in universities carrying out the LINC+ project shows that companies registered in multiple universities are increasing, with relatively high demand and satisfaction for industry-academic cooperation among companies. Family companies were found to be relatively satisfied in terms of the use of R&D equipment or joint research, while they were relatively less satisfied in terms of workforce training and retraining. While companies have assessed product quality improvements through industry-academic cooperation, they have underestimated the effect of increasing sales and reducing production costs. Further, it was found that it was urgent to expand incentive systems and improve online information services to boost corporate participation in order to enhance the effectiveness of industry-academic cooperation.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors affecting cooperation between industry and public research institutes, in addition to the effects of cooperation between them; on technological and economic performance of firms. Based on existing research relating to the factors affecting industry-university-research institutes cooperation and the relationship between them and firm performance, this study selected the competence of government-funded research institutes, R&D capabilities and organizational characteristics of firms, and support of government and local governments; as factors influencing cooperation between industry and public research institutes. This study sets seven hypotheses on the relationship between the factors promoting industry-public research institute cooperation, technological performance and economic performance. A questionnaire survey was used to collect data for hypothesis testing and 116 questionnaires were completed and used in this research. The PLS-MGA was used as a method for hypothesis testing. In the analysis results, we found that the competence of government-funded research institutes, organizational characteristics of firms, and the support of government and local governments have a positive impact on cooperation between industry and public research institutes. We also found that the collaboration between industry and public research institutes, positively affects firms' technological performance. In addition, we found that the technological performance of a firm, positively affects a firms' economic performance. On the other hand, firms' R&D capabilities have no significant effect on cooperation between industry and public research institutes, and industry-public research institute cooperation does not directly affect the economic performance of firms.
Purpose - The research is aimed at investigating the dynamics of economic cooperation among countries which share historical and genetic affinity. Research design, data, and methodology - The study analyzed historical and genetic affinity after reviewing related thesis data on countries with historical relations studied by domestic historians. After that, it was applied to the method of designating the counterparts for economic cooperation and suggesting economic cooperation measures within a comprehensive range. Results - Economic cooperation with the counterparts should complement the ongoing economic cooperation with each country among their planned national strategies. Korea proposes such matters in a way that cooperates and develops to obtain mutual economic benefits. Among the associated countries, Mongolia is for the underground resource processing industry, Turkey for the investment of companies advancing into neighboring countries, Kazakhstan for the diversification of business centered on the manufacturing industry, Uzbekistan for the modernization and diversification of industrial production, Turkmenistan for the localization of resource-based industries and Export promotion, Hungary for the increase in investment in line with the East-ward policy, Finland is for the cooperation in the knowledge-based industry. Conclusion - This economic cooperation can raise Korea's international status to the next level and further strengthen our voice right in the international community.
In the recent era of diversity and grobal competition, it is very important to notice that we need a new paradigm, where and should cooperate with each other. In particular, for the area of furniture, industry must strategically adopt a new design in order to improve product's competition, and also university as an education institute ought to provide with good designers for development of furniture. For this purpose, it is essential for and (University> to cooperate with each other in all areas, and it is necessary to maximize the activity in This cooperation is again emphasized in the view that design without production or production without design is nonsense. We have to go beyond and escape from narrow concept of education in only university and production in only industry. It is required for all of us to have the common consensus that what we have to do now for our future is to construct the system of cooperation between and
