Resistive and Inductive Loading Techniques on Microstrip Antenna for Wideband Application

  • In this work, an exponentially tapered microstrip antenna was implemented using a resistive loading technique in order to suppress the internal reflections. The inductive loading was realized by introducing slits on the antenna to improve radiation efficiency. Compared with a resistive-loaded antenna, the proposed antenna had an average improvement of about 6.2% in radiation efficiency within the range of 2-10.5 GHz. In addition, the highest peak of the radiated short pulse from the proposed antenna became 45% greater than that of an antenna with resistive loading only.

  • In this paper, a non-contact power transferring has been performed. Power Transferring by using an electromagnetic inductive coupling is more suitable for high power transmission than by using a magnetic resonance method. Power transferring system has been designed with Loading Distribution Method to divide the electric and magnetic loading for designing the magnetic core and electric coil. To design optimum shapes of magnetic yoke, 3D finite element analysis has been performed. Experimental results show good agreement with numerical ones. So, it could be adopted in the electric power transferring system for a short-distance wireless electric power transferring machine.

Bandwidth Analysis of a Jerusalem AMC Based on Equivalent Circuit Model (등가회로 모델을 이용한 Jerusamel AMC의 이동통신 대역폭 해석)

  • The bandwidth of a Jerusalem AMC was investigated based on the equivalent circuit model. Using the circuit model and the derivative of the admittance(Y'), the relation between the bandwidth and various circuit parameters was analyzed. It was shown that the substrate thickness and permeability enhance the bandwidth whereas the loadings on FSS grid degrade the bandwidth. Among the two loadings, the capacitive loading had better bandwidth characteristics than the inductive loading. AMC with single polarization was suggested to relax the bandwidth degradation by the inductive loading.

  • This paper investigates a method to remove the undesirable resonance of the rectangular power-bus structure(PBS) using an inductive layer. The equivalent surface impedance of the proposed loading is calculated for characterizing the proposed EBG geometry. The effects of the strips and the immediate surroundings are illustrated by a number of numerical experiments.

Self-Preionization Effects of the Nitrogen Laser Using High Voltage Pulse Power Suply (고전압 펄스형 전원을 사용한 질소레이저의 자체 선전리 효과)

  • We have constructed the laser system which was consisted of a high voltage pulse poner supply, a rapid high voltage spark gap and the Blumlein transmission line circuit of the multiple parallel plate capacitor type, and have studied the self-preionization effect from this laser system without additional modifications. The value of inductive or resistive loading of the laser oscillator seems to have a significant effect on the preionization. The optimal operational condition of this laser system was obtained at the inductive loading of L = I mtl across the laser tube with the spark gap distance of 6.0 mm. nitrogen pressure of 50 torr, when repetition rate was 70 Hz. Stability was found to be better than 2.0Yo and EIP was 867 V/cm.torr.

  • Antennas of the near field detection radar require little distortion in time domain caused by multi reflections between feed and open ends of the antenna, so that help to discriminate the target signal from the clutters. The resistive loading techniques have been used to reduce the late time distortions in order to prevent masking of target. In this paper, we design a microstrip antenna with two arms having sloted lines, which have inductance loading effect. Implemented antenna shows better performance on reducing late-time ringing, and the peak value of the received signal becomes 45% greater than the one by the antenna with two non-sloted lines.

  • In this paper, an planar antenna which has omnidirectional radiation pattern in H-plane and low profile is proposed. By adding inductance elements of an ENG shell structure, a capacitance element of an electrically small antenna is easily achieved with impedance matching. An ENG shell structure is consist of a inductive loading structure which has symmetrical four stepped L-shape slots. The simulated result shows, the impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna is 150MHz (2.5 ~ 2.65GHz). The simulated maximum radiation gain of proposed antenna is 1.12 dBi at center frequency 2.56GHz. Omnidirectional radiation pattern is achieved. The proposed antenna will be applied to wireless lan access point system.

  • This paper investigates a method to tackle the resonance problems of the rectangular power-bus structure(PBS) using thin sheets loaded with periodic metal strips. The equivalent surface impedance of the proposed loading is calculated and involved in the expression of the impedance that accounts for in the PBS, in order to improve the resonance behavior of the original structure. The effects of the strips and the immediate surroundings are illustrated by a number of numerical experiments. Also the restrictions of the technique are addressed.

  • To improve the damping of all poorly damped oscillation modes, a control strategy of Static Synchronous Series Compensator (SSSC) based on energy method is presented in this Paper As a synchronous voltage-sourced inverter, SSSC is used to provide controllable series compensation. SSSC can provide controllable compensating voltage over an identical capacitive and inductive range. The damping effect of control strategy based on energy function is robustness with respect to loading condition, fault location and network configuration. Furthermore, the control inputs are based on local signals. In two area system, the effect of damping inter-area mode oscillation is demonstrated by the robust control strategy of SSSC.

  • This paper shows that the presence of constant impedance loads and induction motors in power system's loading contents can lead to transient voltage instabilities during normal system manipulations such as switchings. The abnormal induction motor characteristics during system transients which initiate the voltage instabilities are illustrated. The influence of motor and network parameters, such as motor inertia mechanical load quantity and nature on the severity of the voltage instability are studied.
