$^{57}Fe_xCu_{1-x}O$(x = 0.0, 0.02) powders were prepared by sol-gel method and their crystallographic and magnetic hyperfine properties have been studied using X-ray diffraction and $M{\ddot{o}}ssbauer$ spectroscopy (MS). The crystal structure of the samples is found to be monoclinic without any secondary phases and their lattice parameters increase with increasing annealing temperature ($T_A$), which is attributed to an increase in oxygen-vacancy content. MS measurements at room temperature indicate that $Fe^{3+}$ ions substitute $Cu^{2+}$ sites and ferromagnetic phase grow with increasing $T_A$. Magnetic hyperfine and quadrupole interactions of $^{57}Fe_{0.02}Cu_{0.98}O$ ($T_A=500^{\circ}C$) in the antiferromagnetic state at 17 K have been studied, yielding the following results: $H_{hf}=426.94\;kOe$, ${\Delta}E_Q=-3.67\;mm/s$, I.S.=0.32 mm/s, ${\theta}=65^{\circ}$, ${\phi}=0^{\circ}$, and ${\eta}=0.6$.

The color and shape of the tongue reflect the physiological and clinico-pathological condition of the body. Recently, various tongue image acquisition devices have been developed for accurate diagnosis based on quantitative and objective tongue features. Since a color information is essential for tongue diagnosis, the performance of an illuminator is very important for the tongue image acquisition device. In this study, we developed an indirect illumination, which is possible to improve a homogeneity of light intensities on the tongue surface, and evaluated its performances. In order to realize the indirect illumination (II), a semi-ellipsoidal solid structure (SESS) for the light reflex was located in the system, and two high-brightness white LEDs were placed for illuminating the areas under frontal camera in the SESS. The tongue surface was illuminated by reflected light from the SESS. The light homogeneity induced by three different illuminations including the II was evaluated by calculating coefficient of variation (CV) of illuminance of five regions. The II showed less than 0.01 of CV and the direct illumination (DI) and the direct illumination with a light diffusion plate (DILDP) showed 0.16 and 0.13, respectively. The reflexed pixel ratios of tongue phantom images show 5.76%, 4.22%, 1.79% for the DI, the DILDP and the II, respectively. The homogeneity of a tongue phantom was evaluated by calculating CV of mean pixel values of six different tongue regions, and showed less than 0.06 in the II. If the II technique apply to tongue diagnosis system, it is expected to improve diagnostic accuracy in clinic.

Temporal and spatial variations of temperature and salinity around Ganjeol Point during January, April, August and November 2011 were studied using the data from CTD observations and temperature monitoring buoys deployed at 20 stations in the southeast coast of Korea. Temperature and salinity were nearly homogeneous through the whole depth by mixing of the seawater in spring and winter related to the sea surface cooling. Stratification induced by the river runoff and the bottom cold water was clear in summer. In autumn, sea water had vertical mixing initiated from surface layer and weak stratification at the middle and bottom layers. Low temperature and high salinity emerged throughout the year near Ganjeol Point, which inferred from turbulent mixing and upwelling by its topographical effect. Major periods of 1/4~1.4 day temperature fluctuations were recorded for the most part of the stations. According to the cross spectral density analysis, high coherence and small time lag for temperature fluctuation between layers were shown at Ganjeol Point. However, those features at the northen area of Hoeya river were opposed to Ganjeol Point. From analyses, thermohaline structure and its fluctuation around Ganjeol Point were characterized into those three parts, the south of Ganjeol Point, Ganjeol Point and the north of Ganjeol Point.

Analysis of multi-channel seismic reflection profiles acquired from the southwestern margin of Ulleung Basin reveals that the cut and fill structures, which show U-shaped or V-shaped morphology, occur on variable size. The cut and fill structure mostly consists of fine-grained sediments on the well data and is characterized by transparent or semitransparent seismic facies on the seismic section. Such cut and fill structures dominantly occur in the syn-compressional megasequence (MSQ3), which was deposited during basin deformation of late Miocene, among the four megasequences of the study area. These cut and fill structures can be divided into three groups based on their size and formation time. The cut and fill structures of Group I were formed when Dolgorae structure was active, and occurred on a small scale. The cut and fill structures of group II were formed when both Dolgorae structure and Gorae V structure were active, and the number and size of those increased compared with group I. The cut and fill structures of group III were formed when Dolgorae structure was weaken gradually but Gorae V structure kept active, and the number and size of those decreased in comparison with group II. Consequently the cut and fill structures in the southwestern margin of Ulleung basin are interpreted as submarine canyon based on spatial distribution, size and fill sediment. They were controlled by the tectonic movement in response to basin closure and tectonic-induced sediment supply variation.
Approximately 64 percent of Korean territory is covered with mountains, and there is occurred a continuous mountain disaster such as landslide, debris flow and slope failure around mountain slopes due to heavy rainfall and typhoon in the summer season. Even in such a reality, the development of mountain areas is being carried out through the development and expansion of social infrastructures centered on mountain areas, but systematic management is insufficient. Constructions of a forest road facility for mountain slopes can be a cause of mountain disasters intensively in the summer season due to artificially changing the mountain area. In this unstable mountain environment, efforts to build a disaster-resistant environment are urgently needed. This research is to analyze the stability of mountain slopes according to soil depth (1~5 m) and mountain slope ($20{\sim}60^{\circ}$) considering the characteristics of rainfall infiltration under extreme rainfall conditions. As a result, the stability of the mountain slope was found to be different according to the depth of soils and the saturation area of the soil layer. As well as the stability of the mountain area was found to be lower than that of the natural mountain area. Specially, rainfall infiltration occurs at the upper slope of the forest road. For this reason, the runoff phenomenon of rainfall infiltration water occurs clearly when the depth of soil layer is low.

In this study, a watershed-based surface water and groundwater integrated model, SWAT-MODFLOW was used to quantify the stream flow depletion due to groundwater pumping for the Sinduncheon watershed. Complex water use conditions such as water taken from a stream, sewage disposal release, irrigation from agricultural reservoir, groundwater pumping were considered for simulations. In particular, the model was revised to reflect the effects of reservoir operation and return flow from the used groundwater on streamflow variation. The simulated results showed that the groundwater pumping at current status has induced the decrease of more than 10% in annual average streamflow and 40% in drought flow at the outlet of the Sinduncheon watershed, The simulated results also revealed that the vast water withdrawals at green house areas during winter season have dramatically changed streamflow from April to June. The streamflow depletion was mainly attributed to pumping wells located within the distance of 300 m from the stream for Sinduncheon watershed.

For the growth optimization of InAs/GaSb (8/8-ML) strained-layer superlattice (SLS), the structure has been grown under various conditions and modes and characterized by the high-resolution x-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. In this study, the strain modulation is induced by changing parameters and modes, such as the growth temperature, the ratio of V/III beam-equivalent-pressure (BEP), and the growth interruption (GI), and the strain variation is analyzed by measuring the angle separation of 0th-order satellite peak in XRD patterns. The XRD results reveal that the growth temperature and the V/III(Sb/Ga) ratio are major parameters to change the crystallineity and the strain modulation in SLS structures, respectively. We have observed that the SLS samples with compressive strain prepared in this study are show a transition to tensile strain with decreasing V/III(Sb/Ga) ratio, and the GI process is a sensitive factor giving rise to strain modulation. These results obtained in this study suggest that optimized growth temperature and V/III(Sb/Ga) ratio are $350^{\circ}C$ and 20, respectively, and the appropriate GI time is approximately 3 seconds just before InAs growth that the crystallineity is maximized and the strain relaxation is minimized.

An algorithm to allow shoreline movement during numerical experiment on sediment transport, deposition or resuspension for general coastal morphology is proposed here. The bed slope near shoreline, i.e. mean sea level, is influenced by bed material, tidal current, waves, and wave-induced current, but has been reported to remain within a stable range. Its annual variation is not large, either. The algorithm is adjusting the bathymetry, if the largest bed slope within shoreline band exceeds a given bed slope due to continuous erosion at zones below the shoreline. This algorithm automatically describes retreat of shoreline caused by erosion, when used within a numerical system. The algorithm was tested to a situation which includes a continuous dredging at a point, and showed satisfactory development of concentric circle contours. Next, the algorithm was tested to another situation which includes sinking of eroded part of bed plate, and produced satisfactory results, too. Finally, the algorithm was tested to a movable-bed laboratory experimental conditions. The shoreline movement behind detached breakwater was reasonably reproduced with this algorithm.
Carbonation (step I) and cryo-crystallization (crystallization at low temperature) (step II) were performed to synthesize Na compounds from sodium concentrated solution. In the step 1, the solubility and pH of carbon dioxide (95 wt.%) affecting carbonation could be changed by the variation of reaction temperature. The step II was performed at 2 ℃ after carbonation. The injection of carbon dioxide was carried out twice for the stable production and the saturated solubility of carbonate ions in solution. Firstly, we tried to inject CO2 for controlling the solubility of CO2 by changing the reaction temperature from 35 ℃ to 10 ℃, and the second injection was aimed at 10 ℃ for inducing nucleation of Na compound through carbonation after NaCl solution addition. In the cryo-crystallization step, the crystal growth of Na compounds could be induced by slowing the carbonation rate through reaction temperature change from 10 ℃ to 2 ℃. In this study, the effect on NaOH concentration was examined and the purity of Na compound was increased when 2M NaOH was used. In addition, the synthesized Na compounds were mostly rod-shaped and consisted of sodium carbonate or sodium carbonate with monohydrate.

This study discusses data collection, calculation of wind and wave-induced resistance, and speed-power analysis of an 8,600 TEU container ship. Data acquisition system of the ship operator was improved to obtain the data necessary for the analysis, which was accomplished using SPA (Ship Performance Analysis, Park et al., 2019) in conformation with ISO15016:2015. From a previous operation profile of the container, the standard operating conditions of mean draft were 12.5 m and 13.6 m, which were defined with the mean stowage configuration of each condition. Model tests, including the load-variation test, were conducted to validate new ship performance and for the speed-power analysis. The major part of the added resistance of container ship is due to the wind. To check the reliability of wind-resistance calculation results, the resistance coefficients, added resistance, and speed-power analysis results using the Fujiwara regression formula (ISO15016:2015) and Computational fluid dynamics (Ryu et al., 2016; Jeon et al., 2017) analysis were compared. Wind speed and direction measured using an anemometer were used for wind-resistance calculation and the wave resistance was calculated using the wave-height and direction-data from weather information. Also, measured water temperature was used to calculate the increase in resistance owing to the deviation in water density. As a result, the SPA analysis using measured data and weather information was proved to be valid and able to identify the ship's resistance propulsion performance. Even with little difference in the air-resistance coefficient value, both methods provide sufficient accuracy for speed-power analysis. The differences were unnoticeable when the speed-power analysis results using each method were compared. Also, speed-power analysis results of the 8,600 TEU container ship in two draft conditions show acceptable trends when compared with the model test results and are also able to show power increase owing to hull fouling and aging. Thus, results of speed-power analysis of the existing 8,600 TEU container ship using the SPA program appropriately exhibit the characteristics of speed-power performance in deal conditions.
