To analyze human thermal environments in protected horticultural houses (plastic houses), human thermal sensations estimated using measured microclimatic data (air temperature, humidity, wind speed, and solar and terrestrial radiation) were compared between an outdoor area and two indoor plastic houses, a polyethylene (PE) house and a polycarbonate (PC) house. Measurements were carried out during the daytime in autumn, a transient season that exhibits human thermal environments ranging from neutral to very hot. The mean air temperature and absolute humidity of the houses were $14.6-16.8^{\circ}C$ (max. 22. $3^{\circ}C$) and $7.0-12.0g{\cdot}m^{-3}$ higher than those of the outdoor area, respectively. Solar (K) and terrestrial (L) radiation were compared directionally from the sky hemisphere (${\downarrow}$) and the ground hemisphere (${\uparrow}$). The mean $K{\downarrow}$ and $K{\uparrow}$ values for the houses were respectively $232.5-367.8W{\cdot}m^{-2}$ and $44.9-55.7W;{\cdot}m^{-2}$ lower than those in the outdoor area; the mean $L{\downarrow}$ and $L{\uparrow}$ values were respectively $150.4-182.3W{\cdot}m^{-2}$ and $30.5-33.9W{\cdot}m^{-2}$ higher than those in the outdoor area. Thus, L was revealed to be more influential on the greenhouse effect in the houses than K. Consequently, mean radiant temperature in the houses was higher than the outdoor area during the daytime from 10:45 to 14:15. As a result, mean human thermal sensation values in the PMV, PET, and UTCI of the houses were respectively $3.2-3.4^{\circ}C$ (max. $4.7^{\circ}C$), $15.2-16.4^{\circ}C$ (max. $23.7^{\circ}C$) and $13.6-15.4^{\circ}C$ (max. $22.3^{\circ}C$) higher than those in the outdoor area. The heat stress levels that were influenced by human thermal sensation were much higher in the houses (between hot and very hot) than in the outdoor (between neutral and warm). Further, the microclimatic component that most affected the human thermal sensation in the houses was air temperature that was primarily influenced by $L{\downarrow}$. Therefore, workers in the plastic houses could experience strong heat stresses, equal to hot or higher, when air temperature rose over $22^{\circ}C$ on clear autumn days.

This study introduces an innovative approach to monitor the whereabouts of workers within indoor construction settings. While traditional modalities such as GPS and NTRIP have demonstrated efficacy for outdoor localizations, their precision dwindles in indoor environments. In response, this research advocates for the adoption of Aruco markers. Leveraging computer vision technology, these markers facilitate the quantification of the distance between a worker and the marker, subsequently pinpointing the worker's instantaneous location with heightened accuracy. The methodology's efficacy was rigorously evaluated in a real-world construction scenario. Parameters including system stability, the influence of lighting conditions, the extremity of measurable distances, and the breadth of recognition angles were methodically appraised. System stability was ascertained by maneuvering the camera at a uniform velocity, gauging its marker recognition prowess. The impact of varying luminosity on marker discernibility was scrutinized by modulating the ambient lighting. Furthermore, the camera's spatial movement ascertained both the upper threshold of distance until marker recognition waned and the maximal angle at which markers remained discernible.
Recently, there have been previous research about the iris recognition in mobile device to increase portability, whose accuracy is affected by the quality of iris image. Iris image is affected by illumination environment during the image acquisition. The existing system has high accuracy in indoor environment. However the accuracy is degraded in outdoor environment, because the gray levels of iris patterns in image are changed, and ghost and eyelash shading regions are produced by the sunlight of various wavelengths into iris region. To overcome these problems, we propose new mobile iris camera system which uses the near-infrared (NIR) light illuminator of 850 nm and band pass filter (BPF) of 850 nm. To measure the performance of the proposed system, we compared it to the existing one with the iris images captured in indoor and outdoor sunlight environments in terms of the equal error rates (EER) based on false acceptance rate (FAR) and false rejection rate (FRR). The experimental result showed that the proposed system had the lower EERs than those of previous system by 0.96% (with frontal light in indoors), 4.94% (with frontal light in outdoor), 9.24% (with side light in outdoor), and 7% (with back light in outdoor), respectively.

Bacillus amyloliquefaciens GR4-5 was isolated from the rhizosphere soil of Korean ginseng and displayed broad-spectrum suppression of ginseng root rot pathogens. The survivability of B. amyloliquefaciens GR4-5 in soil was investigated under three different conditions; indoor, outdoor - of which soil was put in 14 mL tube after treatment - and field environments. Soil samples were collected over a four-week period from three experimental designs, and assessed for 16S rRNA gene copy number by quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR). In outdoor condition, the 16S rRNA gene copy number of Bacillus spp. was 8.35 log copies g $soil^{-1}$ immediately after the GR4-5 treatment. Two weeks later, the 16S rRNA gene copy number of Bacillus spp. (6.70 log copies g $soil^{-1}$) was similar to that of the control (6.38 log copies g $soil^{-1}$). In indoor condition, the 16S rRNA gene copy number of Bacillus spp. maintained in a certain level for a longer period than those in outdoor and field. The 16S rRNA gene copy number of Bacillus spp. in field experiment was reduced faster than that of outdoor condition. Our results show that B. amyloliquefaciens GR4-5 can survive in bulk soil for 1 week, indicating its potential use as a biocontrol agent following 7 day application intervals. This study presents that outdoor microcosm system design could be a useful method to assess easily the survivability of beneficial microorganisms.

Augmented reality is a field of computer research which deals with the combination of real-world and computer-generated data, where computer graphics objects are blended into real footage in real time and it has tremendous potential in visualizing geospatial information. However, to utilize augmented reality in mobile system, many researches have undergone with GPS or marker based approaches. Localization and tracking of current position become more complex problem when it is used in indoor environments. Many proposed RF based tracking and localization. However, it does cause deployment problems of large sensors and readers. In this paper, we present a noble markerless AR approach for indoor navigation system only using a camera. We will apply this work to mobile seamless indoor/outdoor u-GIS system.

This paper provides field test results to confirm and compare the receiving characteristics of digital radio in various environments. HD Radio and DRM+ was used for the in-band method, while DAB/DAB+/T-DMB were used for the out-of-band method. To run field tests for digital radio, a transceiver test bed was constructed in a region in Korea selected as suitable for the testing, and indoor and outdoor reception tests were conducted by selecting 16 test points with different levels of multipath. Not only was the receivability tested at the test point, but ATT margin was also applied, in order to derive the minimum reception level. Through various analyses, the findings obtained through the field tests can aid in the setting of a standard for determining the method of digital radio transmission to ensure a smooth reception environment for consumers.

Toxicity tests in our laboratory are conducted usually with mass-reared organisms. They are under the same environmentel conditions throughout seasons and are supplied at specific age. A total of 38 species of aquatic organisms are being reared. We have attempted to establish pruified strains or to select clones of various parthenogenic organisms. The merits or demerits of our culturing test organisms are discussed. The differences in the susceptibility among clones or strains of test organism are also discussed. For a single species test, algae, daphnia, fish are often used. However, we usually use early stages, but occasionally, adults fish are used for reproduction tests. As an another important aspect, the toxicity through food chains has been studied. In this study, we select a pair of species belonging different trophic levels. The differences between single species tests and multispecies tests will be discussed. Even a single species test intends to assess the effects of chemicals on ecosystem levels, however, this idea is not applicable to ecosystems. Single species tests with standard organisms and multispecies tests are contradictory in concept. One type of multispecles tests is indoor microcosms being composed of severel species artificially assembled, and another is composed of natural components (both indoor and outdoor). We have used three types of outdoor mesocosms using ponds and three types of artificial streams. The mesocosms is useful to not only to analyze the floral or faun61 changes but also to study the fate or behaviour of chemicals in naturd environments. Lastly, usefulness of the field observation or experiments or semi-field experiments will be discussed. This will enhance the exploitation of early warning systems utilizing indicator organisms or animal behaviour.aviour.
In this paper, the DS(direct sequence)-CDMA and MC(multi-carrier)-CDMA, which are being researched recently as a synchronous IMT-2000 scheme for next-generation mobile multimedia communications, are studied in terms of BER(bit error rate) performance. The BER performance of MC-CDMA with EGB, MRC, and improved MMSEC detection scheme are analyzed and compared to that of conventional DS-CDMA adopting RAKE receiver through the computer simulations under the environments of synchronous IMT-2000 transmission channel. Not only single user case but also multiuser case is considered in the given system. As a result, it is shown that MC-CDMA with MMSEC detection outperforms all other schemes improved the $E_b/N_o$ by about 5 [dB] and 6 [dB] when the BER is $2{\times}10^{-3}$, for the indoor/outdoor fading channel and synchronous IMT-2000 transmission channel, respectively. Also in the multiuser case, MC-CDMA with MMSEC detection scheme exhibits better performance than all the other schemes.

The purpose of this study is to estimate the air quality of subway stations having underground platforms in Busan Metropolitan City, from September to November 2000, over seven times. The places of the investigation include Yonsan-dong station, Somyon station, Busan station, Nampo-dong station, and Dusil station. Samplings were conducted at three points in each station, i.e. gates, ticket gates, and platforms. CO, NO, $NO_2$, and $O_3$ were the main components of air for this analysis. In order to more fully understand station environments, we also measured an air temperature at each point. The results showed that the $O_3$ average concentration of Yonsan-dong station was higher than others with 38~51 ppb. The average concentration of NO was high at the ticket gate and platform at Somyon station (119 ppb, 122 ppb) and Nampo-dong station (102 ppb, 100 ppb). These results show that the air pollution of stations with underground shopping malls were higher than others. At Somyon station having a junction station, NO and $NO_2$ concentration levels of platform-2 (noncrowded) were higher than platform-1 (crowded). This is most likely due to the accumulation of air pollutants and inadequate ventilation systems. To find the relationship of the indoor (platform) and outdoor (gate), we analyzed the I/O ratio. The averages of CO and $O_3$ were both higher than one: 1.16 and 1.82, respectively. In the correlations between each material and the others, NO vs $NO_2$ was the highest with R=0.63. In the correlations between indoor and outdoor, $O_3$ was the highest with R=0.64.

Objectives: Exposure to bioaerosols in the indoor environment could be associated with a variety adverse health effects, including allergic disease such atopy. The objectives of this study were to assess children's exposure to bioaerosol in home indoor environments and to evaluate the association between atopy and bioaerosol, environmental, and social factors in Ulsan, Korea. Methods: Samples of viable airborne bacteria and fungi were collected by impaction onto agar plates using a Quick Take TM 30 and were counted as colony forming units per cubic meter of air (CFU/$m^3$). Bioaerosols were identified using standard microbial techniques by differential stains and/or microscopy. The environmental factors and possible causes of atopy based on ISAAC (International Study of Allergy and Asthma in Childhood) were collected by questionnaire. Results: The bioaerosol concentrations in indoor environments showed log-normal distribution (p < 0.01). Geometric mean (GM) and geometric standard deviation (GSD) of airborne bacteria and fungi in homes were 189.0 (2.5), 346.1(2.0) CFU/$m^3$, respectively. Indoor fungal levels were significantly higher than those of bacteria (p < 0.001). The concentration of airborne bacteria exceeded the limit recommended by the Korean Ministry of Environment, 800 CFU/$m^3$, in three out of 92 samples (3.3%) from 52 homes. The means of indoor to outdoor ratio (I/O) for airborne bacteria and fungi were 8.15 and 1.13, respectively. The source of airborne bacteria was not outdoors but indoors. GM of airborne bacteria and fungi were 217.6, 291.8 CFU/$m^3$ in the case's home and 162.0, 415.2 CFU/$m^3$ in the control's home respectively. The difference in fungal distributions between case and control were significant (p = 0.004) and the odds ratio was 0.996 (p = 0.027). Atopy was significantly associated with type of house (odds ratio = 1.723, p = 0.047) and income (odds ratio = 1.891, p = 0.041). Some of the potential allergic fungal genera isolated in homes were Cladosporium spp., Botrytis spp., Aspergillus spp., Penicillium spp., and Alternatia spp. Conclusions: These results suggest that there this should be either 'was little' meaning 'basically no significant association was found' or 'was a small negative' mean that an association was found but it was minor. It's a very improtant distinction. Association between airborne fungal concentrations and atopy and certain socioeconomic factors may affect the prevalence of childhood atopy.
