  • In this study, an investigation into the gas interchangeability and combustion characteristics of natural gas with various compositions was performed. In order to suggest the appropriateness of gas interchangeability using the specific gravity(SG) and the Wobbe index(WI) values, combustion characteristics, which include incomplete combustion and flame lifting, were measured and observed for the upper and lower limits using the gas-oven as a domestic partial-premixed type appliance and the condensing boiler as a domestic premixed type appliance.

  • Carbon Monoxide(CO) poisoning accident is higher than any other gas accident in the rate of deaths/incidents. In the last five years, 36 people died and 104 were wounded because of carbon monoxide poisoning accident. Most of these CO poisoning accidents were caused by defective exhaust tube in the old gas boiler and multi-use facility. In this study, the spread of incomplete combustion gas(CO) released from leakage hole of exhaust tube was analyzed by computational flow modeling and concentration measuring test. CO gas leaked form exhaust tube in a building was highest concentrated near the ceiling and formed the circular currents along the walls. Through these experiments and simulation, the reasonable installation location of carbon monoxide alarm was made certain and suggested.

  • In order to investigate the generation of carbon monoxide and heat loss of incomplete combustion in compartment fires, an experiment was conducted in a small scale compartment by using methanol as a fuel. The concentration of carbon monoxide and the toxicity parameter showed high values when the mass air - to - fuel stoichiometric ratio is under 1.0. The constitution of the combustion gas was showed to estimate it from the . The heat loss due to incompleteness of combustion is about one third of heat of combustion in case of under 1.0.

성형 및 비성형 폐기물 고형연료의 연소특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Combustion Characteristics of Pelletized and Fluff RDF (Refuse Derived Fuel))

  • 본 연구에서는 비성형 RDF의 에너지 활용성을 확인하기 위하여 실험실 연소로를 이용한 온도 변화에 의한 연소특성연구를 하였다. 비성형 RDF 연소시 배출가스의 특성과 분진 및 잔류물을 분석하였으며 또한 그 결과를 성형 RDF의 연소실험 결과와 비교분석하였다. 본 연구로부터 비성형 RDF가 성형 RDF에 비교하여 연소속도가 빨라져서 급격히 산소량이 감소되어 불완전연소율이 증가함을 확인하였다. 또한 연소온도가 높아질수록 연소속도가 향상되었으며 산소 소모량이 급격히 증가하였고, 이에 따른 불완전연소율이 증가하여 CO의 농도가 높아짐을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 비성형 RDF의 완전연소를 위한 운전조건의 설정에 매우 신중을 기해야 할 것으로 판단되었다.

  • This study is concerned with the emission characteristics of kerosene fan heater, which is burned with kerosene and water droplets simultaneously in the burner, in order to prohibit the emissions of harmful exhaust gas and reduce smell caused by incomplete combustion, and the addition of water droplets to the conventional kerosene fan heater was performed by ultrasonic atomizer. For the investigation of this study, the measurement of exhaust gas components and exhaust gas temperature was carried out by using an automatic combustion gas analyser and $NO_x$ analyser, and the measurement of consumption weight of oil and water was obtained by using electric digital balance. Consequently, according as the water percent weight ratio of about $21{\sim}23%$ was supplied for this study, it was found that the combustion-generated $NO_x$ and CO emissions were reduced very largely, but the emissions of $O_2\;and\;CO_2$ and the temperature of exhaust gas were not changed.

  • In order to study the gas interchangeability, a series of tests and analysis were conducted regarding to natural gas and gas mixture. Natural gas was selected as a reference and NG-LPG/Air mixture as a substitute gas. The major interest was placed on the determination of interchangeability limits for different mixing conditions. The parameters of Wobbe Index and Combustion Potential were employed in estimating the gas interchangeability, The limits obtained by analysis(AGA, WEAVER, KNOY, GILB) were compared with experimental results. The results estimated showed that the mixing limits of LPG/Air in proper conditions were found to vary with analysis and AGA is considered to be the most appropriate one.

  • In gas turbines, excess air for combustion is available and therefore lean premixed combustion is the most promising approach to the significant reduction of thermal NOx emissions. At lean conditions, however, flame stability is inherently worse and hence combustion tends to be incomplete. Efforts have been devoted toward extending the operating range of complete combustion at leaner conditions. One of them is the lean-lean two-stage combustion where lean to ultra-lean secondary mixtures are mixed with the hot burned gas from the primary stage. Conventional flame combustion or flameless reaction are initiated depending on the conditions of the secondary zone. In the first part of the present study, the effects of fuel injection on the emissions and flame stability were investigated for a single tubular flame, In the second part, the emissions and flame stability were studied for a two-stage combustor with secondary mixture injected through the tangential slots on a cylindrical combustor wall. The effects of the ratio of air flow rates to the primary and secondary zones on the emissions and combustion characteristics were investigate.

가스난방용 적외선 히터의 연소배기가스 특성해석 (Analysis of the Characteristics of Flue Gas in Infrared Mobile Heaters for Gas Room Heating)

  • 본 연구에서는 부탄가스를 연료로 사용하고 있는 이동식 적외선 가스히터의 연소시 배출되는 배기가스의 농도수준과 특성을 분석하였다. 실험은 연소 챔버의 크기와 챔버의 온도를 고려하여 실험을 수행하였다. 산소결핍 안전장치가 작동하는 $O_2$의 농도는 챔버의 내용적에 관계없이 $18.3\%$로 각각 나타났고, 작동하는 시간은 내용적이 클수록 늦게 작동하였다. 밀폐공간에서 연소시 $O_2$$CO_2$는 선형성을 가지며, CO농도는 $O_2$$CO_2$의 발생수준과는 관계없이 연소가 시작된 10분 이후부터 그 발생폭이 불규칙적으로 크게 나타났다. 이들 결과는 가스 난방기를 실내에서 사용할 때 충분한 환기를 통하여 불안전 연소를 방지하고 $O_2$ 감소에 따른 질식사고와 CO에 의한 중독사고를 예방할 수 있다는 측면에서 대단히 중요하다.

  • Experimental investigations were carried out in an atmospheric pressure, optically accessible and laboratory-scale dump combustor operating on natural gas. The objective of this study is to obtain the phase-resolved gas temperatures at different phases of the oscillating pressure cycle during unstable combustion. CARS temperature measurements were made at several spatial locations under lean premixed conditions to get the information on temperature field within the combustor. Also the effect of incomplete fuel-air mixing on phase-resolved temperature fluctuation was investigated. Results including phase-resolved averaged temperature, normalized standard deviation and temperature probability distribution functions (PDFs) were provided in this paper. Temperature PDFs give an insight on the flame behavior. And strong correlation between phase-resolved temperature profile and pressure cycle was observed. Results of the phase-resolved high temperature give an additional information on the perturbation of equivalence ratio at flame as well as the effect of mixing quality on NOx emission characteristics.

  • Ducted 로켓은 가스발생기에서의 1차 불완전 연소반응 및 연소관 내에서의 흡입구로부터 공급되는 공기와의 2차 완전 연소반응을 통해 추력을 발생한다. 로켓의 사정거리는 추진제의 무게, 특히 연료의 무게에 의해 결정되므로 일반적인 고체 추진기관보다 연료효율이 높고 종말속도가 빠르므로 대공, 대함 등의 다양한 추진기관에 적용이 가능할 것으로 기대된다.
