We set up a four-wave holographic interferometer using a symmetric dual-beam illumination which is to measure in-plane and out-of-plane displacement simultaneously. In order to acquire the displacement phase map we applied the phase-shifting method and removed the noise of the phase map with least-squares fitting. In this approach the access to information relative to both the difference and sum of phases existing in the two arms of four-wave holographic interferometer was allowed. As a result, in-plane and out-of-plane displacement was measured to the accuracy of λ/40 and λ/100, respectively at λ=632.8nm

In-plane piezoelectric charge constant of Electro-Active paper (EAPap) was investigated based on direct and converse piezoelectric effects. EAPap samples were made with cellulose film with very thin gold electrode coated on both sides of the film. To characterize direct piezoelectricity of EAPap, induced charge was measured when mechanical stress was applied to EAPap. In-plane piezoelectric charge constant was extracted from the relation between induced charge and applied in-plane normal stress. To investigate converse piezoelectricity, induced in-plane strain was measured when electric field was applied to EAPap. Piezoelectric charge constant was also extracted from the relation of induced in-plane strain and applied electric field. Piezoelectric charge constants obtained from direct and converse piezoelectricity are 31 pC/N and 178 x 10-12m/V for 45 degree sample, respectively. Measured piezoelectric charge constants of EAPap provide promising potential as a piezoelectric material.

An analytical model has been developed to predict the elastic properties of a filled resin reinforced by chopped fibers, a three-phase composite such as a filled sheet molding compound(SMC). In the model the matrix material and fillers form an effective matrix. The effective matrix is then considered to be reinforced with long fibers lying in the sheet plane but randomly oriented in the plane. Expressions for the resulting transversely isotropic composite properties are explicitly presented. Using this model, the Young's and shear moduli are calculated for the SMC sample with filler weight fraction of 35% and fiber content of 30%. The same properties are also determined experimentally. The agreement between the calculated and measured elastic moduli is found to be very good for the in-plane properties. However, the out-of-plane properties show a large difference because the effect of voids is not taken into account in the model.
We review a series of crack problems arising in the general deformations of a linearly elastic solid (Mode-I, Mode-II and Mode-III crack) and, perhaps more significantly, when the contribution of surface effects are taken into account. The surface mechanics are incorporated using the continuum based surface/interface model of Gurtin and Murdoch. We show that the deformations of an elastic solid containing a single crack can be decoupled into in-plane (Mode-I and Mode-II crack) and anti-plane (Mode-III crack) parts, even when the surface mechanics is introduced. In particular, it is shown that, in contrast to classical fracture mechanics (where surface effects are neglected), the incorporation of surface elasticity leads to the more accurate description of a finite stress at the crack tip. In addition, the corresponding stress fields exhibit strong dependency on the size of crack.

The longitudinal and lateral in-plane vibrations of an axially moving membrane are investigated when the membrane has translating acceleration. By extended Hamilton's principle, the governing equations are derived. The equations of motion for the in-plane vibrations are linear and coupled. These equations are discretized by using the Galerkin approximation method after they are transformed into the variational equations, j.e., the weak forms so that the admissible functions can be used for the bases of the in-plane deflections. With the discretized equations for the in-plane vibrations, the natural frequencies and the time histories of the deflections are obtained.

The in-plane vibration response of a clamped circular plate should be predicted in many applications. Up to now, papers on the in-plane vibration of rectangular plate are published. However, analytical derivation on the in-plane vibration of the clamped circular plate is not carried out. Therefore, the in-plane vibration of the clamped circular plate is the concern of this paper. In order to derive the equations of motion for the clamped circular plate in the cylindrical coordinate, the kinetic energy and potential energy for the in-plane behavior are obtained by us ing the stress-strain-displacement expressions. Application of Hamilton's principle leads to two sets of differential equations. These displacement equations were highly coupled. It is possible to obtain a simpler set of equations by introducing Helmholtz decomposition. Substituting them into the coupled differential equations, we obtain the uncoupled equations of motion. In order to solve them, we assume that the solutions are harmonic. Then, they lead to the wave equations. Using the separation of variable, we obtain the general solutions for the equations. Based on the solutions, the displacements for r and $\theta$ direction are assumed. Finally we obtain the frequency equation for the clamped circular plate by the application of boundary conditions. The derived equation is compared with the finite element analysis for validation by using the some numerical examples.

A volume integral equation method (VIEM) is used to calculate the plane elastostatic field in an isotropic elastic half-plane containing multiple isotropic or anisotropic inclusions subject to remote loading. A detailed analysis of stress field at the interface between the matrix and the central inclusion in the first column of square packing is carried out for different values of the distance between the center of the central inclusion in the first column of square packing of inclusions and the traction-free surface boundary in an isotropic elastic half-plane containing multiple isotropic or anisotropic inclusions. The method is shown to be very accurate and effective for investigating the local stresses in an isotropic elastic half-plane containing multiple isotropic or anisotropic inclusions.

Software-Defined Networking (SDN) offers several advantages in dynamic routing, flexible programmable control and custom application-driven network management. However, the programmability of the data plane in traditional SDN is limited. A network operator cannot change the ability of the data plane and perform complex packet processing on the data plane, which limits the flexibility and extendibility of SDN. In the paper, AP-SDN (Action Program enabled Software-Defined Networking) architecture is proposed, which extends the action set of SDN data plane. In the proposed architecture, a modified Open vSwitch is utilized in the data plane allowing the execution of action programs at runtime, thus enabling complex packet processing. An example action program is also implemented which transparently encrypts traffic for terminals. At last, a prototype system of AP-SDN is developed and experiments show its effectiveness and performance.
Fake projective planes are smooth complex surfaces of general type with Betti numbers equal to that of the usual projective plane. Recent explicit constructions of fake projective planes embed them via their bicanonical embedding in ℙ9. In this paper, we study Keum's fake projective plane (a = 7, p = 2, {7}, D327) and use the equations of [1] to construct an embedding of fake projective plane in ℙ5. We also simplify the 84 cubic equations defining the fake projective plane in ℙ9.
