  • The contingent valuation method (CVM) is one of the most commonly used and effective methods to evaluate non-use value of resources. Reasonable application of CVM to value the cultural heritage is the key process of evaluation. CVM was used to evaluate the non-use value of cultural heritage of Taishan Mountain combined with questionnaire survey and field research in this study. The results indicated that the importance of the degree of the three components of non-use value was heritage value ranked highest (40.22%) > followed by existence value (38.58%) >then option value (21.20%). In addition, the rate of willingness to pay was 54.52%, the average and median values of per person were 40.17 CNY·a-1 and 20.00 CNY·a-1 and the non-use values of Taishan Mountain cultural heritage was 33 million CNY·a-1. The median value of WTP was consistent with Asian countries but was lower than European and American countries. Factors influencing WTP showed that monthly income and satisfaction with Taishan Mountain were correlated to WTP, and family location and willingness to revist were correlated remarkably with WTP. In addition, monthly income was correlated remarkably with WTP value, however other factors were not. The results showed the importance and necessity of protective development of Taishan Mountain cultural heritage, which would be used as an important reference for decision makers.

  • This paper derives maximum likelihood estimators (MLEs) and some approximate MLEs (AMLEs) of unknown parameters of the generalized exponential distribution when data are lower record values. We derive approximate Bayes estimators through importance sampling and obtain corresponding Bayes predictive intervals for unknown parameters for lower record values from the generalized exponential distribution. For illustrative purposes, we examine the validity of the proposed estimation method by using real and simulated data.

  • Entrepreneurship is recognized as an essential education in start-up education. However, domestic studies on entrepreneurship in developing countries are extremely rare. The purpose of this study is to compare the importance of entrepreneurship and the perception of implementation of Korean and Nepalese farmers, and to seek a start-up education strategy based on the results. As a result of the study, first, there was no difference in the importance of entrepreneurship in the 6th industry between two countries, but the degree of entrepreneurial spirit performance was high in Nepalese farmers. Second, in terms of the difference between the importance and execution of the 6th industry entrepreneurship, Korea had lower performance than importance in all factors, and Nepal had higher importance than implementation in innovation, initiative, cooperation, and networking capability. Third, in the difference between the importance and the degree of implementation in each country, the level of implementation was uniformly lower than that of importance in Korea, but the height of the Nepalese farmers was not uniform. The results of this study, which studied entrepreneurship in Korea and Nepal, contribute greatly in terms of promoting the national economy by creating new added values.

  • Forest vegetation types and growth characteristics of Seongin-bong at Ulleung Island in Korea were studied by using importance values, distributions of diameter classes, and annual growth analysis. Vegetation types were classified into 7 groups. The number of existing woody plant and herbaceous plant species varied from 17 to 21 species per $100m^2$. In case of life-forms importance values, woody and herbs showed average values of 47% and 53% across 5 groups. But in Tsuga sieboldii-Pinus parviflora and Fague engleriana- Taxus cuspidata var. latifolia groups, woody importance values were 68% and 54%, respectively. Diameter classes in most stand types were regularly distributed and showed continuous growth in annual diameter growth. from these results, this site is expected to maintain a stable vegetation structure continuously. F. engleriana, which forms major species in this site, showed 0.46-0.62 cm in annual average diameter growth. The annual average diameter growth of broad-leaved tree species was 0.2-0.6 cm, while the growth rate of T. sieboldii and P. parviflora was 0.38 cm and that of T. cuspidata var, latifolia was below 0.1 cm.

  • With tremendous advancement of information and communication technologies, mobile learning systems have been widely adopted in language learning contexts, and several frameworks have been developed for identifying and categorizing different factors of mobile-assisted language learning (MALL). However, pre-existing frameworks have limitations when evaluating the importance level of criteria. The purpose of this study is to develop a comprehensive hierarchical framework for identifying and categorizing success factors of MALL and prioritizing them according to the importance level. To do that, AHP method is used to quantitatively estimate weight values of MALL criteria. Results reveal that the priority of MALL criteria is ordered as follows: content, system, learner, language learning. Local weights of each criterion are also analyzed; for example, usefulness, accuracy, and authenticity are critical factors for improving MALL contents. Ease of use and mobility of MALL systems are also considered more critical than other systematic factors. In addition, availability of immediate feedback and self-directness has the highest weight values of importance. The findings of the study are discussed regarding hierarchical orders of MALL criteria and conclude that successful MALL implementation may be achieved if related elements are diversely measured and evaluated. Pedagogical implications and suggestions for further research are also presented.
