An exploratory study of e-business systems implementation in Korean small business as a resource based perspectives (자원역량 관점에서 중소기업의 e-비즈니스 구현 영향요인에 관한 탐색적 연구)

  • Small business have very different characteristics from large business; notable, small business suffer from resource and capacity poverty. Without knowing the relative importance of limited resources and capacity in small business, it have limited practical contribution to e-business implementation success. This paper develops an exploratory resource-based model of e-business implementation for small business with 42 sample companies. The results show that three types of resource factors; IS/IT vender supports, the level of IS/IT knowledge, and financial support. The implication for research is that the resource-based view of the firm and the test an exploratory framework of resource factors are useful theories to ground future work on e-business implementation in small business.

  • Up until now, the government has propelled various projects to establish and stabilize the Safety Management System(SMS). Now it is time for companies to diagnose and evaluate the safety management system to see if it is being operated in accordance with the situations of the companies. Therefore, this study has proposed to develop a model that can monitor the safety management system and evaluate operational achievements and an implementation supporting module that can operate the safety management system.   • The purpose of this study is to explore the role of information systems in the implementation of knowledge management, at King Abdul-Aziz University (KAU) in Jeddah, by highlighting the importance of information systems and their implementation of the knowledge processes. The researcher used the case-study method to explore the importance of information systems in supporting the implementation of knowledge management at the university. Moreover, the study has used the questionnaire as a tool for collecting information and obtaining feedbacks from the administrators at the university, and a random sample was chosen to identify the study community. The study resulted that there is a statistical indication of the importance and degree of the use of electronic systems in the university by the administrators. The study sample members believe that the university is keen to provide information systems, where systems analyze data and convert them into knowledge information that benefits the senior management at the university. Members of the study sample emphasize the importance of electronic information systems at the university, which in turn saves time and effort in extracting information, reports, statistics and providing them easily to senior management. The study also concluded with some recommendations, such as emphasizing the importance of knowledge management as one of its top priorities, spreading the knowledge culture, instilling a vision of knowledge among individuals, and emphasizing the importance of information systems.

The Influence of IT Governance Implementation Factor on Information Systems Effectiveness and the Moderating Effect of Strategic Alignment (IT거버넌스 실행요인과 정보시스템(IS) 효과성, 그리고 전략적 연계의 조절효과)

  • IT governance is an integral part of enterprise governance and consists of the leadership, organizational structures, and processes that ensure organization's IT decision making for achieving organizational goal. Most firms have failed to resolve the balance in building IT governance. The challenge is to align IT strategy with business strategy in establishing and implementing effective IT governance. The purpose of this study is to find out the relationship between IT governance implementation factors and IS effectiveness, and the moderating effect of strategic alignment of IS strategy with business strategy on IS effectiveness. IT governance implementation factors consist of IT vendor management, IT human resource management, and IT infrastructure. Strategic alignment was measured as the alignment between business strategic orientation and IS strategic orientation that used in the research of Chan et al.(1997). In the relationship between three IT governance implementation factors and IS effectiveness, the results of multiple regression analyses showed that IT human resource management is an important determinant to influence IS effectiveness. The additional analysis using multiple regression showed that strategic alignment of IS strategy with business strategy has moderated the relationship between IT governance implementation factors and IS effectiveness.

A Study on the implementation of manners and degree of life satisfaction of adolescents (청소년의 예절수행 정도와 생활만족도에 관한 연구)

  • The objective of this study is to induce the importance of manners through the relation between the implementation of manners and degree of life satisfaction in adolescents and to examine positive variants that can enhance degree of life satisfaction A total of 413 questionnaires were used as the final data for this study. The results of the study are as follows. 1. The implementation of manners in adolescents was just above the median. In particular, the lowest sector was in public manners and communication manners requiring intensive activation measures. The variables influencing the results were the score, internal-external control, perceptiveness to the importance of propriety 2. On the level of satisfaction with life as a general, the study showed reasonable standards. The variables influencing the results were the score, internal-external control, gender-role attitudes, perceptiveness to the importance of propriety. Also, considering that implementation of manners contributed to enhancing the level of satisfaction, the establishment of a healthy manners culture of adolescents in required.

  • The Government is going to enforce assessment of dental institutions in addition to assessment of medical institutions so that it can provide good-quality medical service to people having much interest in quality of medical service. But the empirical research on the assessment of dental institutions which is still in a model assessment stage, is insufficient. Accordingly, the present research aims to help dental institutions preparing the main assessment by researching an acceptance level of workers of dental institutions in a process performing assessment of dental institutions, based on the preceding researches that the perceived utility has influence on implementation intention. The present research proved the influence that job relevance, result demonstration, usability and education & training of workers and manager's leadership of an infection management part affects perceived utility and implementation intention. As a research result, all the job relevance, result demonstration, usability have a positive(+) influence on perceived utility and implementation intention, and the influence of job relevance most affects especially. The leadership and education & training have influence on what workers get to have implementation intention after perception of utility of infection management according to the order. According to the above results, it can be understood that medical institutions preparing for assessment of dental institutions take charge of the assessment part having high relevance with work of workers and need to make a manager ordering performance of its assessment be able to foster a leadership for improving effectiveness of assessment performance.

  • This paper was concerned about design and implementation of supply chain management for auto-part company by adopting a UML(Unified Modeling Language). The part of SCM and e-business have interested by larger company, researcher and academic professor. There has been known about a little implementing SCM and it's initiatives for SME(small-medium sized enterprise). We, in this paper, dealt with design and implementing the SCM on supply chain auto part SMEs. The UML is a standard language for specifying, visualizing, constructing, and documenting the artifacts of software systems. It simplifies the complex process of software design, making a blueprint for the SCM implementation. In this paper, we also adopt some methods for the systematic system analysis, design, and implementation by applying UML to a SCM system.

  • The objectives of this study is to develop a strategy for the adoption of BPM(Business Process Management) standards and an implementation guideline of the BPM standard for BPM solution developers focusing on BPEL(Business Process Execution Language) which is regarded as the most important BPM standard. In the heterogeneous and distributed IT environments, every type of enterprise software requires standards to enhance interoperability. BPMS(Business Process Management System), which is a type of enterprise software requires BPM standards such as BPEL(Business Process Execution Language), BPMN(Business Process Modeling and Notation), BPQL(Business Process Query Language) and so on to achieve multi-system interoperability and component interoperability with their BPM solutions. It is quite helpful to provide the adoption strategy concerning BPM standards for each type of BPM solution vendors who need the BPM standards. Since the BPEL is conceived as the most important BPM standard and widely adopted by many BPM vendors, we have proposed a reference architecture for BPEL implementation and also developed the detail implementation guideline of core components of the BPM system supporting the BPEL standard. Using the strategy and implementation guideline proposed in this work, BPM solution vendors can establish their own standard adoption strategy and they can also develop their BPM solutions supporting the BPM standards more efficiently.

Factors Affecting Implementation Performance in the Organizations Adopting ERP Systems (ERP 시스템 구현성과에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • The major purpose of this study is to identify the factors influencing the implementation performance of ERP Systems from an integrated viewpoint. For this purpose, a research model is developed based on the literature reviews of ERP systems, contingency theory, and change management theory. The research model proposed fifteen variables as the factors influencing the implementation performance in the ERP systems. The data have been collected from the 164 enterprises which implemented ERP systems at least one year ago. The respondents were person in charge of ERP system of each corporation. The results of hypothesis testing through multiple regression analysis are summarized as follows. Firstly, standardization of work, concentration of decision making, top management concern and support, real user participation, project support goodness, ease of use, and system usefulness have positive influence upon non-financial performance. Secondly, market uncertainty, industrial competition, project support goodness, and customization minimization have positive influence upon financial performance. From the analysis, this research have identified important characteristics for the successful implementation of ERP systems. Consequently, this research ends with managerial and theoretical implications of the study results, as well as limitations and future research directions.

  • Project implementation plan is a blueprint that confirms project performance activities and specifies required man-hour, period and resource imput ratio. Various figures, the results of implementation plan, are predicted through estimation, and because of superiority of objectivity and repeatability, numerical formula-based estimation model is often used overseas. COCOMO model is the representative estimation model whose theories and formulas are publicized and it predicts the total man-hour required for software system development. This model is publicized in "Software Engineering Economics" written by Professor Barry Boehm of the U.S., and is the most widely applied numerical formula-based estimation model. This study is conducted to provide a series of methods that are optimal for KTDS environment by choosing COCOMO II model among various types of COCOMO models. In establishing implementation plan, COCOMO II model alone is not sufficient, it is necessary to link with and apply standard WBS system and standard man-hour. In establishing specific implementation plan, phased standard WBS system in order of the first phase of all the activities implemented in the project, Activity, Task, and Role, and the man-hour put into this should be distributed according to standard ratio from COCOMO II model's total man-hour. This study provides explainations by establishing standard WBS system and linking with COCOMO II model.
