Information technology. computers, networks, and the World Wide Web are ubiquitous. Academic libraries have applied information technology over the last ten years. The traditional role of the library as the scholarly information heart of the university is being questioned as information technology makes Information ever more easily accessible. And the recent technological development may alter the fundamental concept or identity of the academic library in the twenty-first century. This paper examines the ways in which information technology have chanced the academic library over the last decades and deals with the logical interrelation of 'information technology' and 'management' in the context of academic libraries in Korea. The purpose of this paper is to analyse the impacts of information technology on academic library management (organizational structure. librarian's job and role. budget allocation and expenditures, space planning and functionality, collection paradigm, user service, academic entity, etc) and suggests a desirable acceptance attitudes and efficient management acceptance attitude and management.

With the start of knowledge based society, there has been extinction of traditional librarian jobs, new kinds of jobs are created, differentiated, and joined. As so there has been a great change in career paths. This study is a basic research of career parhes of library and information sciences alumni to adapt field work and build powerful workforce. Through the research of 5 Universities and 190 career routes, the movement of the library information and science majors' career has been unveiled. The majority of the library and information science majored career was jobs based on culture and arts, education and researches, economy and planning related ones, marketing and sales respectively. Particularly, except the librarian, there were just few careers in artistic cultural field. Further more, because there is a great impact in career tendency based on his education, the library information and science has drawn the report that the future of career and knowledge which is demanded in working field.

In order for school library to fully serve as a key educational element of a school, teachers' positive perception on the library's role is essential. Due to the lack of the perception, however, school libraries are not closely related to class activities in practice. Since teachers' perception on school library has been regarded as an given environmental factor in the field of school libraries, alternatives for revitalizing school libraries proposed in previous studies were not effective in practice. We developed a hypothesis that activities in school libraries have a certain impact on the teachers' perception, and tested the hypothesis and identified library factors to the perception in this study. Through a series of statistical analyses with the data from a questionnaire survey with teachers in elementary schools, we identified that the teachers perceived the library as non-curricular element, their perceptions were affected by the library. Consequently, the school library can influence the teachers' perveption. This study has implications to explore practical alternatives to improve the teachers' perception on school libraries by activities in school libraries.

As interior and exterior environments change rapidly with the modern IT technology, the strategies related to marketing activities which enhance the library competition have been demanded. Although many previous studies have been conducted to improve the satisfaction of the library users and to increase the use rate, only few studies focused on the marketing strategy to elevate the library performance. With suggestion of a systematic framework related to the strategies, this study aims to analyze not only the interior and exterior factors which impact on the library marketing strategies, but the strategies which may influence on its performance. To achieve this objective, we adopted a comprehensive survey targeting the various types of our domestic libraries. On the basis of the results, we proposed a guideline for the strategy operation for the librarians to enhance the library performance.

The purpose of this study is to verify effects between the place attachment and the place value in public libraries; and also to identify whether frequency and purpose of usage, length of residence, and website use play a moderating role in the influential relationship between users' place attachment and the perception of place value for public libraries. Users' place dependence affected the library's value positively(+) due to moderating effect of usage frequency of the library and the users' length of residence. In order to estimate the moderating effect by purpose of use, the groups were divided by purpose of library use and the relationship between place attachment and place value by groups were analyzed. However, website usage bore no effect on users' place attachment or perception of place value to their local library. This study showed that place attachment as an affective indicator on users is very useful variable to explain the value of libraries as a social and cultural place.

This study was performed to find out how to improve the usefulness and effectiveness of the field practice program in Library and Information Science by diagnosing the practical instructor's perception of the overall field practice in the Library and Information Science. To achieve this goal, we conducted a research on the current situation and a measurement in perception of the field practice program through a survey of practical instructors at practical training institutions. We, then, analyzed the factors affecting the perception and examined the relationship between the effects. As a result of investigating the factors affecting the perception of field practice, 'operational accountability for the field practice program' was found to be a significant factor among other factors such as the general characteristics of the practical instructors, the characteristics of library related work and the field practice status of the practical training institutions. And factors of 'practice environment' and 'practice instruction method' have been identified to have a significant impact as a result of analyzing how the six factors constituting the perception of field practice effect on the overall perception of field practice of the practical instructors.

The purpose of the study is to examine citizens' perception regarding establishing a new public library in Jung-gu, Daegu. The study conducted a survey and the participants(N=300) were recruited using a quota sampling method(174 residents of Jung-gu and 126 others in Daegu who may use public libraries in Jung-gu). The respondents highly recognized both the present and future value of public libraries and the impact to themselves and their families, but they perceived that they currently have very few public libraries in Jung-gu, Deagu. Thus, they damanded that new public libraries be built in Jung-gu, and had high willingness to use the public libraries. The study also found that respondents' basic direction regarding building a new public library in Jung-gu and their preference on library location, collection, services, etc. The study finally earned the validity in establishing a new municipal library in Jung-gu, Daegu from the results. On the basis of the findings, the study suggested planing the detailed guidelines and directions for further library construction and operation.

This study designed the research model to identify whether the characteristics of cultural programs of public libraries and middle-aged people's experience of the programs impact on their life satisfaction. To verify our model, we conducted our survey to random middle-aged users of five public libraries in Gyeonggi-do and nine public libraries in Seoul, and 246 valid samples are used. Our analysis showed that the characteristics of cultural programs and middle aged people's experience of the programs affect their perception of cultural programs, and the regional perception of public libraries had a significant effect on fulfilling personal needs for life satisfaction. Our analysis also showed the change in values of public libraries that spread to the realm of daily life. This study is meaningful in suggesting directions for national and local public library policies and public library cultural programs.

The purpose of this study is to longitudinally analyze impact factors on library use. One of library use indicators, the number of circulated books was statistically analyzed with latent growth model and growth mixture model. Library data from 2014 to 2019 were collected from the National Library Statistics System, and 846 public libraries were analyzed. As results, the number of circulated books were decreased, but it was tempered. Next, with controlling the factor affecting the dependent variable, the size of collection and the number of participants in reading programs provided by public libraries were statistically significant. Lastly, 5 classes were identified by applying the growth mixture model, and the number of librarians was significantly associated with trajectory class membership.

International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) recently developed the adult and pediatric meshtype reference computational phantoms (MRCPs) in high-quality/fidelity mesh format, featuring high deformability into various body sizes and poses. Utilizing this feature, the adult MRCPs-based body-size-dependent phantom library was developed for individualized dosimetry. To complete the full phantom library set, the present study produced the pediatric-MRCPs-based body-size-dependent pediatric phantom library. The library comprises a total of 637 phantoms (356 males and 281 females) with varying standing heights and body weights, covering a wide range of body sizes (i.e., including from 1st to 99th percentile height and weight values) for infants, children, and adolescents, offering a realistic representation of body shapes by reflecting ten secondary anthropometric parameters. The phantoms were automatically constructed utilizing automatic deformation program. The dosimetric impact of the library was investigated by calculating organ doses for external exposures to broad parallel photon beams in anterior-posterior direction. Compared with the values of the pediatric MRCPs, significant differences were observed at energies <0.05 MeV, showing larger values for underweight phantom and smaller values for obese phantom. The results highlight the importance of using the pediatric phantom library for accurate dose estimates of individual children with various body sizes.
