  • An UHF ($860{\sim}960MHz$) RFID tag antenna is optimized and designed using a genetic algorithm (GA). The tag antenna impedance should be matched to the conjugate of the impedance of the tag IC Chip. The chip impedance has real and capacitive imaginary parts due to the parasitic capacitance of the RFID chip. A GA linked with a commercially available antenna simulation program optimizes the UHF $860{\sim}960\;MHz$ tag antenna to match a commercially available RFID chip. This method shows that any RFID antenna can be designed for any commercial RFID chip with any impedance.

  • This paper deals with behaviors of PSC-Beam bridges according to continuity of spans. To analyze the long-term behavior of bridges, an analytical model which can simulate the effects of creep, the shrinkage of concrete, and the cracking of concrete slabs in the negative moment regions is introduced. To consider the different material properties across the sectional depth, the layer approach in which a section is divided into imaginary concrete and steel layers is adopted. The element stiffness matrix is constructed according to the assumed displacement field formulation, and the creep and shrinkage effects of concrete are considered in accordance with the first-order algorithm based on the expansion of the creep compliance. Correlation studies between analytical and experimental results are conducted with the objective to establish the validity of the proposed model. Besides, many uncertainties related to the continuity of spans are analyzed to minimize deck cracking at interior supports.

  • This paper presents a new and simple method for sensorless operation of matrix converter drives using a constant air-gap flux and the imaginary power flowing to the motor. To improve low-speed sensorless performance, the non-linearities of a matrix converter drive such as commutation delays, turn-on and turn-off times of switching devices, and on-state switching device voltage drop are modelled using PQR transformation and compensated using a reference power control scheme. The proposed compensation method is applied for high performance induction motor drives using a 3 kW matrix converter system. Experimental results are shown to illustrate the feasibility of the proposed strategy.

  • Thompson series is a Hauptmodul for a genus zero group which lies between $\Gamma$o(N) and its normalizer in PSL2(R) ([1]). We construct explicit ring class fields over an imaginary quadratic field K from the Thompson series $T_g$($\alpha$) (Theorem 4), which would be an extension of [3], Theorem 3.7.5 (2) by using the Shimura theory and the standard results of complex multiplication. Also we construct various class fields over K, over a CM-field K (${\zeta}N + {\zeta}_N^{-1}$), and over a field K (${\zeta}N$). Furthermore, we find an explicit formula for the conjugates of Tg ($\alpha$) to calculate its minimal polynomial where $\alpha$ (${\in}{\eta}$) is the quotient of a basis of an integral ideal in K.

  • This study suggests the visual contents of environment education using the Rainwater, Visual contents is more effective than writings in terms of delivering information. Environment education needs to be performed from the stage of early childhood as environment can be dealt throughout the overall daily life of learners. This study is to utilize animation contents for environment education to shift recognition of user on environment and deliver the information. For this purpose, virtual space, a theme park with motif of rain city operated by Rainwater was established. Then the process of utilizing Rainwater was shown using rides. Imaginary animal, a dragon and endangered animals were visualized as characters. So this paper is to suggest the possibility of visualization of environment education contents and stimulate 'interest' and provide educational information' on utilizing the Rainwater.

  • To get instantaneous reference data in a single power system with vector space phasors, the instantaneous load current is adopted as a phase and another new signal, which is delayed through filtering by the phase-delay property of a low-pass filter, is used as the secondary phase. Because the two-phases have a different phase, the instantaneous value of the harmonic current can be obtained without a time-delay in calculation. The reference voltage is created by multiplying the coefficient k by the compensation current using the rotating reference frame synchronized with the source-frequency. To verify the validity of the proposed control method, experiments are carried out on a prototype of the single-phase hybrid active power filter system.

  • This study focused on the performance characteristics of solar cell using the impedance technique. We measured an impedance according to frequency from 1 Hz until 1 MHz. It could know that the impedance was decreased according to the frequency increases in solar cell. The impedance of single crystal solar cell was 0.61 ${\Omega}$ at 1 Hz, and kept almost settled value to $1{\times}10^2$ Hz. However, the impedance of polycrystal solar cell was $7{\times}10^3{\Omega}$ at 1 Hz.

  • The dielectric anisotropy and dispersion of the real and imaginary part of the permittivity of commercially important nematic mixture E-24 and its polymer composite were investigated in the frequency range from 1 kHz to 10 MHz, and temperature range $14^{\circ}C$ to $55^{\circ}C$. The percentage optical transmittance and density have also been measured for both the systems. The results have been explained by assuming molecular rotation about the long molecular axis, under a hindering nematic potential. The dielectric anisotropy ${\Delta}{\varepsilon}$ is positive, and the mean dielectric permittivity falls with rising temperature. ${\Delta}{\varepsilon}$ is also used to determine the order parameter with varying temperature.
