  • The results of advanced studies which handled the relationship between social norm and intention to use illegal download don't match exactly. This study determined that the reason why the results of advanced studies are confused is, that moderator variables play important roles. For this reason, this study planned to test for significance of moderators consisting of attitude to copyright law(A) and perceived price importance at time of purchase(B). To achieve this, the present study divide social norm into two norms(subjective norm and group norm) and set up hypotheses on the moderating effects of two variables(A, B) between these two norms and intention to use the illegal download. The results show that all but one hypotheses are accepted. The other moderating effect hypothesis which is consist of subjective norm and attitude toward copyright law is rejected. This means that the effect of group norm on intention to use illegal download is moderated by attitude to copyright law. Also, this result means the effects of group/subjective norm on intention to use illegal download is moderated by the perceived price importance at time of purchase.

  • Proliferation of high performance internet infrastructures finally allows their users download a single copy of regular movie just within in a couple of seconds. Ease of accesses to the software for downloading consequently leads them insensitive to the ethics or legitimacy of their conduct. Thus, strong legal action is enforced for piracy over nationally through strengthen the copyright law. We in this paper conducted a survey to see whether netizens prefer to download just for the matter of their convenience. Whilst the level of awareness is addressed even in a far-fetched manner in the area of music piracy and computer software piracy, the case of movie is much different in that we even fail to find any survey that has been made for movie piracy. The survey has been made by devising questionnaires for netizens and it was posted web WorldSurvey, which is the most prominent online survey site in Korea. To our surprise, 9 out of 10 respondents expressed they actually resort to illegal downloading for the reason of convenience. We realized one more surprise. More than 95% of netizens conspicuously aware of their downloading behaviors are mischievous and illegal without reservation.

  • File sharing through P2P was decided as illegal according to Supreme Court of the U.S. and the Highest Court of Korea in 2005. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. et al. v. Grokster, LTD., et al. and Soribada v. Korea Association for Music Providers have the same ground for decision. P2P service company has vicarious liability for illegal file sharing of its customers. Balance between copyright protection and development of technology was considered in that decision. • The Korea Copyright Commission has pursued copyright technology R&D projects to prevent illegal copying of comics and Webtoons. We developed a feature-based scanned comic filtering technology in order to apply technical measures to specific types of online service providers. We also developed technologies in order to monitor and identify illegally distributed comics on webhard sites and to monitor and identify illegally distributed webtoons. Even though all comic books posted on webhard sites are illegal, it is no trouble to download and access popular comics by accessing websites in foreign countries. Even under these circumstances, the comic and webtoon copyright protection technologies developed over the past six years have been used at all. In this paper, we examine what the problems are and find solutions to propose a copyright protection method for webtoons.

  • Due to the rapid progress in network technology, many research on content security technologies is also being conducted in the mobile digital content sector. In the meantime, content protection has been immersed in preventing illegal copying, certifying, and issuance/management certificates, but still have many vulnerabilities in managing or authenticating confidential information. This study aims to strengthen confidential information about content based on dual management of content download rights through mobile phone numbers or device numbers. It also protect replay-attack by building a secure mobile DRM system where digital content is safely distributed based on a three-stage user authentication process. In addition, blockchain-based content security enhancements were studied during the primary/secondary process for user authentication for the prevention of piracy and copyright protection. In addition, the client authentication process was further improved through three final stages of authorization in the use of illegal content, considering that legitimate users redistributed their content to third-party.
