  • Knowledge can be characterized in many ways. We have categorized internal and external knowledge by its position, tacit and explicit knowledge by the degree of formalization, and general and innovative knowledge by the power of competitive advantage. They is, often, mixed in real world. Under New Economy, firms must conduct the analysis of various knowledge embodied employee's skill, its products and business process, and create a new added value. Knowledge is the important strategic resource and the ability to capture, organize, store and apply is the critical capability for substantial competitive advantage. For establishing the steps of knowledge management strategy, we described below - the identification of intellectual capital, value analysis, the building of knowledge infrastructure, the knowledge organization, value creation, and the knowledge evaluation and dynamic knowledge management.

  • Structural health monitoring has increasingly been a focus within the civil engineering research community over the last few decades. With increasing application of sensor networks in large structures and infrastructure systems, effective use and development of robust algorithms to analyze large volumes of data and to extract the desired features has become a challenging problem. In this paper, we grasp some precautions and key points of the signal processing approach, wavelet, establish a relative reliable framework, and analyze three problems that require attention when applying wavelet based damage detection approach. The cases studies how to use optimal scales for extracting mode shapes and modal curvatures in a reinforced concrete beam and how to effectively identify damages using maximum curves of wavelet coefficient differences. Moreover, how to make a recognition based on the wavelet multi-resolution analysis, wavelet packet energy, and fuzzy sets is a meaningful topic that has been addressed in this work. The relative systematic work that compasses algorithms, structures and evaluation paves a way to a framework regarding effective structural health monitoring, orientation, decision and action.

  • Reference linking based on a identification system is being widely used both domestically and overseas. National R&D information contains all information related to the R&D programs such as the output and equipment information resulting from the participant and project information. The reference linking service enables the user to freely look up output of a certain program, participant of a project, equipment information from the project or participant and all other information that originates from a R&D project without having to search for it. The reference linking service in the area of national R&D will enable the linking of heterogeneous information produced at different sources.

  • Since 2014, MOLIT (Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport) is carrying out a KASS project to develop and construct Korean SBAS. KASS can cause damage of human & properties if it has some problem during operation. Therefore, system safety assessment for KASS development is very important. Principal point of system safety assessment is the allocation of DAL(design assurance level) based on the hazard identification and classification. In this parer, the author conducts the allocation of DAL for KASS & its sub-systems based on the international standard(SAE ARP4761), which suggests a best practice of aviation system safety assessment. The result of this paper are the first step of system safety assessment, and can be used for further system safety assessment of KASS project.

  • Design analysis for underground spaces requires evaluating stability related to tunnel collapses. A failure mode is one of the critical factors in the conventional methods of stability analysis. Therefore identification of failure modes is essential in securing safe construction in the phase of design analysis, instrumentation planning and implementation of reinforcing measures. In this study failure modes at the tunnel heading in granular soils are investigated using physical model tests and numerical simulation for various tunnel depths and ground surface inclinations. Test results indicated that the effect of depth and inclination of ground surface on a failure mode are significant. It is identified that, with an incase in depth, failure modes become localized in a region close to the tunnel. It is also known that an increase in the inclination of ground surface results in inclined and wide failure modes.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the factors influencing RFID(Radio Frequency IDentification) diffusion. This study has been reviewed various theoretical research relating to innovation diffusion theory and RFID. The model was tested Structural Equation Modeling(SEM) using Smart PLS 2.0 analysis on the sample collected from 73 companies. The result of hypothesis testing is as follows. First, standardization, IS infrastructure influence positively RFID integration. Second, perceived benefits, inter-organizational cooperation, competitive pressure influence positively RFID usage. Third, RFID integration influence positively RFID usage. The results of this study will provide various implications on RFID diffusion.

  • The foodservice industry is changing more and more from on-site foodservice management to contract foodservice management. However there are differences according to the level of management and operation of contract foodservice management company (CFMC). The necessity of certification on CFMC is increasing to enable fair discrimination of CFMC among most clients that want to contract with CFMC. This study was performed to identify the foodservice operation evaluation model's criteria items for certifying CFMC. The analysis research methods included literature review, content analysis, individual interview, Delphi technique, and brain storming. First, the following infrastructure items were prepared in the contractor's viewpoint: procurement, transparency of operation, menu development and operation system, nutrition service system, professional employee education, sanitation andsafety management system, customer satisfaction system, facility system, management information system (MIS), business and economics. Second, the evaluation criteria required by the contractor on the client's view point was similar to school foodservice, hospitalfoodservice, and business andindustry foodservice except extraordinary items of field. Third, evaluation criteria and detail categories and items were identified such as financial focus, customer focus, process focus, human focus, and renewal and development by grafting on intellectual capital evaluation methodology for CFMC.

  • It is a time honored value proposition that in rapidly changing business environment, only proactive and active companies will survive. Enterprise resource planning(ERP) system has been a competitive necessity. However, small and medium companies in Korea still need practical guidelines regarding on successful ERP implementation, especially in process issue identification and business goal setting. This case study investigates how Secui.com as an information security company founded in 2000 implemented an ERP system from the strategic perspective. Also it proposes the guidelines of how to establish an information system infrastructure and realize the benefits of IS-based management by ERP implementation.

  • Gender specificity in muscle growth and development is well known. Genesis of muscle is dependent on proliferation and differentiation potential of resident myogenic satellite cells (MSCs) present in muscle fibers. Multipotential capacity of forming myocyte, osteocyte, and adipocyte like cell makes MSCs a unique stem cell. To understand the molecular mechanism involved in determination of muscle quality due to difference in hormone concentration of different gender of animals, MSCs were isolated from bovine skeletal muscle and cultured in male, female, and castrated serum supplemented media. DNA microarray used consisted of 24,000 spots with 70 mer oligo in each spot. A total of 88 genes were up-regulated and 551 genes were down-regulated by more than two fold. Among up-regulated gene, 33, 34, and 21 genes were found up-regulated in cells grown in male, female, and castrated serum, respectively. Interestingly, male serum showed 4, female 11 and castrated male showed 4 genes expressed highly in each gender. Further study on the highly up-regulated gene may unfold the mystery of gender specificity found in muscle development. Also, the identification of differentially expressed genes in gender-specific serum will add information on infrastructure of bovine genome research.

  • This study presents a computer vision-based approach for representing time evolution of structural damages leveraging a database of inspection images. Spatially incoherent but temporally sorted archival images captured by robotic cameras are exploited to represent the damage evolution over a long period of time. An access to a sequence of time-stamped inspection data recording the damage growth dynamics is premised to this end. Identification of a structural defect in the most recent inspection data set triggers an exhaustive search into the images collected during the previous inspections looking for correspondences based on spatial proximity. This is followed by a view synthesis from multiple candidate images resulting in a single reconstruction for each inspection round. Cracks on concrete surface are used as a case study to demonstrate the feasibility of this approach. Once the chronology is established, the damage severity is quantified at various levels of time scale documenting its progression through time. The proposed scheme enables the prediction of damage severity at a future point in time providing a scope for preemptive measures against imminent structural failure. On the whole, it is believed that the present study will immensely benefit the structural inspectors by introducing the time dimension into the autonomous condition assessment pipeline.
