  • Tungsten oxide($WO_3$) thin films were prepared by reactive magnetron sputtering in an $Ar/O_2$ atmosphere from a compressed powder $WO_3$ target and their electrochromic(EC) phenomena were investigated. PEO-$LiClO_4$-PC polymer electrolyte can easely be formed into thin films and showed high transmittance. Such electrolyte have electrochromic properties suitable for large-scale electrochromic devices. For the devices using $WO_3$ thin films of 1500, 2500, $4000{\AA}$ thickness with glass/ITO/$WO_3$/PEO-$LiClO_4$-PC/ITO/glass structure, an optical modulation of $50{\sim}60%$ were obtained at a potential range of $1{\sim}2V$. It has shown that transmittance and reflectance of light could be electrically controlled by low applied voltage.

Chemical Stability of The Electrochromic Tungsten oxide Thin Films (전기적 착색 텅스텐 산화물 박막의 화학적 안정성)

  • Electochromic tungsten oxide thin films were prepared on the ITO coated glass by rf magnetron sputtering from a compressed powder tungsten oxide target in an argonoxygen atmosphere. The influence of the preparation conditions, especially the substrate temperature, on the chemical stability of film was investigated. These films were cycled in 0.6M $LiClO_4$ and 0.6M $H_2SO_4$ electrolyte respecitively, and exhibited electrochromic behavior upon the electrochemical insertion and extraction of ion. Among these tungsten oxide thin films, films prepared at a substrate temperature of $150^{\circ}C$ were found to be most stable in terms of cyclic durability.

  • Photovoltaic effect is confirmed in DSSC fabricated under the common conditions. In upper electrodes, validity of ZnO as new TCO material was investigated and an improvement of characteristics in DSSC was tried by control of process conditions at semiconductive powder layer. ZnO thin film showed very high resistivity, therefore efficiency of solar cell was lower than that of conventional ITO-related material. DSSC characteristics was able to improve by thin blocking layer doposited between the TCO and semiconductor layer.

  • We have developed reflective information display using opposite-charged two particles. An appropriate amount of both the yellow and the black powers are putted between the ITO patterned glass substrate separated with cell gap. The rib maintains the cell gap and prevents the interference between the pixels. When a negative voltage is applied to the upper ITO electrode, the positively charged black powder moves to the upper electrode viewing a black appearance. In case of positive voltage is applied to this electrode white particle is observed. So we analyzed the electrical and optical properties of our charged particle type display panel.

  • The Light brightness is to enhance the luminescence efficiency of phosphor including conductive material. In preparing the anode layer, phosphors mixed with conductive material prepared with pastes of polymer resin using by screen printing method. When the prepared anode layer bombarded by cold electron from emitter of cathode, it give rise to form the secondary electron from those of conductive materials such as ITO powder. Furthermore, we are expect to enhance the luminescence efficiency more than without conductive material.

Object of this research show powder electroluminescent device (PELD) for high brightness compared with conventional PELD. Single layer of PELD structured as follow (ITO/phosphor + dielectric/silver paste). To investigate optical properties of PELDS, EL spectrum, CIE coordinate system, Brightness of PELDs was measured.   • SMC(Soft Magnetic Composite) materials which we have newly developed were studied for their applying effects. It shows almost the same motor output power as the laminated Si-steels of 0.35mm in thickness, although core loss of SMC is about 1.5 times that of the laminations. As shown in the results, the SMC motor core is sufficient for real use as a motor core. Furthermore, a 3-D shaped motor core made of SMC can improve approximately 20% of the output compared with the same size motor made of laminations.

Effect of Wetting Angle and Powder Content on the Optical Properties of Self-Assembled SiO2 Photonic Crystals (기판의 접촉각과 분말량이 자기조립을 통해 형성된 SiO2 광자결정의 광특성에 미치는 영향)

  • This study investigated the effects of the substrate and powder content on the fabrication of SiO$_{2}$ photonic crystals by evaporation method. Photonic crystals were self-assembled on quartz, Corning 1737 glass, slide glass, and ITa glass to verify the effects of the wetting angle and surface morphology. The powder contents of the solution were varied from 0.2 to 2.0 wt$\%$. The number of photonic crystal layers increased according to the decrease of wetting angle and surface roughness. The resultant photonic crystals showed the best optical characteristics when the number of photonic crystal layers was within 40 and 50. In addition, the intensity peak of Fabry¡?Perot fringes increased when the wetting angle was large and the particle size was small. Photonic crystals coated on ITO glass showed the highest reflectance peak of 63$\%$ relative intensity.

Effects of Deposition Thickness and Oxygen Introduction Flow Rate on Electrical and Optical Properties of IZO Films (증착두께 및 산소도입속도가 IZO 필름의 전기 및 광학적 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • Transparent conductive oxide films have been widely used in the field of flat panel display (FPD). Transparent conductive Indium Zinc Oxide (IZO) thin films with excellent chemical stability have attracted much attention as an alternative material for Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) films. In this study, using $In_2O_3$ and ZnO powder mixture with a ratio of 90 : 10 wt% as a target, IZO films are prepared on polynorbornene (PNB) substrates by electron beam evaporation. The effect of thickness and $O_2$ introduction flow rate on the optical, electrical, structural properties and surface composition of deposited IZO films were investigated by UV/Visible spectrophotometer, 4-point probe method, SEM, XRD and XPS.
