Aluminium doped zinc oxide(ZnO:Al) thin film, which is mainly used as a transparent conducting electrode in electronic devices, has many advantages compared with conventional indium tin oxide(ITO). In this paper in order to investigate the possible application of ZnO:Al thin films as a transparent conducting electrode for flexible film-typed dye sensitized solar cell (FT-DSCs), ZnO:Al and ITO thin films were prepared on the polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrate by r. f. magnetron sputtering method. Specially one-inched FT-DSCs using either a ZnO:Al or ITO electrode were also fabricated separately under the same manufacturing conditions. Some properties of both the FT-DSCs with ZnO:Al and ITO transparent electrodes, such as conversion efficiency, fill factor, and photocurrent were measured and compared with each other. The results showed that by doping the ZnO target with 2 wt% of $Al_2O_3$, the film deposited at discharge power of 200W resulted in the minimum resistivity of $2.2\times10^{-3}\Omega/cm$ and at ransmittance of 91.7%, which are comparable with those of commercially available ITO. Two types of FT-DSCs showed nearly the same tendency of I-V characteristics and the same value of conversion efficiencies. Efficiency of FT-DSCs using ZnO:Al electrode was around 2.6% and that of fabricated FT-DSCs using ITO was 2.5%. This means that ZnO:Al thin film can be used in FT-DSCs as a transparent conducting layer.

Indium tin oxide (ITO) films were prepared using radio frequency (RF) magnetron sputtering method, magnets were equipped near the target in the sputter to bring the plasma near the target. The effect of magnetic field that brings the plasma near the substrate was compared with that of substrate heating. The effect of substrate heating on the grain size of the ITO thin film was larger than that of the magnetic field. However, the grain size of the ITO thin film was larger when the magnetic field was applied near the substrate during the sputtering process than when the substrate was not heated and the magnetic field was not applied. If stronger magnetic field is applied near the substrate during sputtering, it can be expected that the ITO thin film with good electrical conductivity and high transparency is obtained at low substrate temperature. When magnetic field of 90 Gauss was applied near the substrate during sputtering, the mobility of the ITO thin film increased from 15.2 $cm^2/V.s$ to 23.3 $cm^2/V.s$, whereas the sheet resistivity decreased from 7.68 ${\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ to 5.11 ${\Omega}{\cdot}cm$.
We have investigated the effect of the surface roughness of TCO substrate on the characteristics of OLED (organic light emitting diodes) devices. In order to control the surface roughness of ITO thin films, we have processed photolithography and reactive ion etching. The micro-size patterned mask was used, and the etching depth was controlled by changing etching time. The surface morphology of the ITO thin film was observed by FESEM and atomic force microscopy (AFM). And then, organic materials and cathode electrode were sequentially deposited on the ITO thin films. Device structure was ITO/$\alpha$-NPD/DPVB/Alq3/LiF/Al. The DPVB was used as a blue emitting material. The electrical characteristics such as current density vs. voltage and luminescence vs. voltage of OLED devices were measured by using spectrometer (minolta CS-1000A). The current vs. voltage and luminance vs. voltage characteristics were systematically degraded with increasing surface roughness. Furthermore, the retention test clearly presented that the reliability of OLED devices was directly influenced with the surface roughness, which could be interpreted in terms of the concentration of the electric field on the weak and thin organic layers caused by the poor step coverage.

ITO/Ni/ITO thin films were deposited on the PET by RF magnetron sputtering. Dependance of the process parameters such as deposition pressure, positions of Ni layer, on the transmittance, reflectance and sheet resistance of ITO/Ni/ITO film were investigated. When the Ni layer is placed at the center of ITO and deposition pressure is low, ITO/Ni/ITO films showed better optical and electrical properties. At these conditions, the transmittance, reflectance and sheet resistance of the ITO film were $90\%,\;0.38\%$ and $185\Omega/\Box$ respectively.

The ITO thin films were prepared by the FTS(Facing Targets Sputtering) system. The ITO thin films are deposited by changing the input current and working gas pressure. Then, electric characteristics, transmittance and surface roughness of ITO thin films were measured by Hall effect measurement, UV-VIS spectrometer and AFM. As a result, the ITO thin film was fabricated with resistivity 6xl0$^{-4}$ Ωㆍcm, carrier mobility 52.11 $\textrm{cm}^2$/Vㆍsec, carrier concentration 1.72 x $10^{20}$$cm^{-3}$ transmittance over 85 % of ITO film at working gas pressure 1 mTorr and input current 0.6 A.

ITO thin film was deposited on the glass by RF magnetron sputtering. Dependance of the process parameters such as thickness, target-to-substrate distance, substrate temperature and oxygen partial pressure on the transmittance and electrical resistance of ITO film were investigated. The deposition conditions for getting better optical and electrical ITO characteristics were the 1800-$2300\AA$ thickness, 65mm substrate-to-target distance, $350^{\circ}C$ substrate temperature and 8% oxygen partial pressure. At these conditions, the transmittance and sheet resistance of the ITO film were 83.3% and 77.86Ω/$\square$, respectively.

The material that is both conductive in electricity and transparent to the visible-ray is called transparent conducting thin film. It has many field of application such as solar cell, liquid crystal display, transparent electrical heater, selective optical filter, and a optical electric device. In this study, indium tin oxide (ITO ; Sn-doped $In_2O_3$) thin films were deposited on $SiO_2$/soda-lime glass plates by a dc magnetron sputtering technique. The crystallinity and electrical properties of the films were investigated by X-ray diffraction(XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM) scanning and 4-point probe. The optical transmittance of ITO films in the range of 300-1000nm were measured with a spectrophotometer. As a result, we obtained polycrystalline structured ITO films with (222), (400), and (440) peak. Transmittance of all the films were higher than 90% in the visible range.

Indium tin oxide (ITO) thin films (30 nm) were deposited on PET substrate by reactive DC magnetron sputtering using In/Sn(2, 5 wt.%) metal alloy target without intentionally substrate heating during the deposition under different DC powers of 70 ~ 110 W. The electrical properties were estimated by Hall-effect measurements system. The resistivity of ITO thin film deposited using In/Sn (5 wt.%) metal alloy target at low DC power increased with increasing annealing time. However, they increased with increasing annealing time at high DC power. In the case of ITO (Sn 2 wt%), we can't find clear change in resistivity with increasing annealing time. However, carrier density and mobility showed difference behavior due to change of oxygen vacancy.

We treated $O_2$ plasma on ITO thin film using RIE (Reactive Ion Etching) system, and analyzed the ingredient of ITO thin film according to change of processing conditions. The ingredient analysis of ITO thin film was used by EDS (Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy) and XPS (X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy) to compare and analyze the ingredient of bulk and surface. We measured electrical resistivity using Four-Point-Probe and calculated sheet resistance, and ITO surface roughness was measured by using AFM (Atomic Force Microscope). Finally, we fabricated OLEDs (Organic Light-Emitting Diodes) device using substrate that was treated optimum ITO surface. The result of the study for electrical and optical properties using I V L System (Flat Panel Display Analysis System), we confirmed that electrical properties (I-V) and optical properties (L-V) were improved.

Indium tin oxide (ITO), which is used as an electrode in organic thin film transistors (OTFT), was modified with a self-assembled monolayer (SAM) by wet chemical surface modification. The surface of the ITO was treated by dipping method in a solution of 2-chloroethane phosphonic acid (2-CEPA) at room temperature. The work function in the ITO which was modified with the SAM in the 2-CEPA had 5.43eV. A surface energy and a transmittance were unchanged in an error range. On this study, therefore, possibility of ohmic contact is showed in the interface between the ITO and the organic semiconductors. These results suggest that the treatment of the ITO with the SAM can greatly enhance the performance of the OTFT.
