  • In order to analyze the educational effect of learning mentoring conducted for 4 weeks by the Korea Educational Broadcasting System(EBS) for elementary school students, the changes in self-directed learning skills and emotional stability were analyzed through pre-test and post-test for 27 students who participated in the EBS learning mentoring. As a result, it was found that students' self-directed learning ability and emotional stability were both improved. In addition, the students showed high satisfaction with the mentor who guided their learning and taught them. Therefore, in order to reduce the learning gap of underprivileged students in the distance learning situation, the EBS learning mentoring project should be continuously promoted, and the mentoring period and the number of students and teachers participating in mentoring should be significantly increased.

For this, we have selected experimental group and comparative group and proceeded the experiment. For five classroom hours of the 'technique of invention and practical experience' unit, each group was assigned different method to do the experiment. The experimental group was applied with the colleague mentoring method and the comparative group was applied with the self study method. To observe the differences of how it effects on one's self-efficacy, the questionnaire was distributed before and after class. Then, it was verified for the meaningful differences between the two groups. To summarize, the results are as follows. First, for self-efficacy experiment, the questionnaire before the experiment showed that there were no differences found between two groups. However, the questionnaire collected after the experiment showed great differences. The group with the colleague mentoring showed more meaningful differences at p<.05 significance level than comparative group. Furthermore, by observing the before and after questionnaire, it was found that both groups showed statistically meaningful differences at p<.05 significance level, but the experimental group showed greater self-efficacy improvements than comparative group. Second, when further examining the self-efficacy, the activity start expectation, activity continuation expectation, activity performance expectation, and experience recovery expectation showed the statistically meaningful differences at p<.05 significance level. According to the above results, it can be stated that the colleague mentoring class has more positive effects on the self-efficacy than self-study class. Summing up, the colleague mentoring class is more effective than self-study for fostering student's self-efficacy.

  • Recently, the government has been pursuing various policies to create new industries and jobs through the invigoration of start-ups. For the sustained growth of start-ups, it is necessary to look not only at the supply of risk capital but also at policies for venture capital firms that nurture and foster start-ups. The purpose of this study is to estimate the effects of the nurturing and fostering role of risk capital, such as mentorship on the performance of start-ups, and to do this we analyzed the effects, as a newly introduced form of venture capital, of mentoring by an accelerator and investor ties on the performance outcomes of start-ups. We find that mentoring and investor ties for start-up enterprises positively influence follow-up investment in start-ups. In addition, this study finds that with a younger CEO of a start-up, it is more likely that the performance of the start-up will improve. Meanwhile, when examining increases in employment as a measure of the business performance of start-ups, mentoring and investor ties are found to have a positive effect on the increase of employment at start-ups. These results suggest that there is a need to promote policies that strengthen the mentoring role of venture capital in Korea's equity finance policies and in the government's SME support policies.
