The Impact of Ecosystem-based Alliance Formation on Financial Performance in the Korean Telecommunications Industry

  • The diffusion of smart devices has greatly influenced the market dynamics of the telecommunications industry. The competition paradigm has shifted from individual firm-based competition to ecosystem-based competition. To satisfy the diverse needs of market customers, it has become more important for telecommunications companies to form alliances with complementary partners in the ecosystem. This study empirically investigates the influence of ecosystem-based alliance formations on the financial performance of firms in the Korean telecommunications market. Specifically, the impact of a CPND (Content, Platforms, Networks, and Devices) alliance in the ICT (Information and Communications Technology) sector on firms' profitability is examined using a structural equation model. The results indicate that before the diffusion of smart devices, ecosystem-based alliance formations with other firms in the ICT ecosystem were not effective for enhancing profitability. However, after this diffusion, alliance formation between members of the value chain in the ICT ecosystem contributed significantly to firms' financial performance. This implies that recent alliances with firms that are constituents of the ICT ecosystem are an important element of profit generation in the ICT market in Korea.

  • Today, In the Service Industry are more getting a lot of convergence of IT utilization. And global IT companies are strengthening that platform based Services Ecosystems. These business in the field, Ecosystem Competitive strategy is difficult to imitate. And this strategy is generated organic Business Model that a by Competitive-Predominance to brings. In addition, the added value of the Service Industry is taken, a new type of job creation by the ripple-effect is huge. However, existing the Ecosystem Theory of Business is a lack of research on the use. Thus, Ecosystem Construction conditions is very difficult. This study is try to successful Platform Case's Analysis such as Apple, Google, Amazon, eBay's. These Ecosystems is that want to know the Major attributes. At first, would be analyzing to previous research, the Service and Knowledge Services' major attributes and Ecosystem studies' major attributes to grasp. Then, from a Group of Experts is to assess the importance. Finally, according to each Platform, examined the Correlation of Major Attributes.

  • The purpose of this research is to analyze big data structure and various objects in big data industry based on ecological perspective. Big data is rapidly emerging as a highly valuable resource to secure competitiveness of enterprise and government. Accordingly, the main issues in big data are to find ways of creating economic value and solving various problems. However big data is not systematically organized, and hard to utilize as it constantly expands to related industry such as telecommunications, finance and manufacturing. Under this circumstance, it is crucial to understand range of big data industry and to which stakeholders are related. The ecological approach is useful to understand comprehensive industry structure. Therefore this study aims at confirming big data structure and finding issues from interaction among objects. Results of this study show main framework of big data ecosystem including relationship among object elements composing of the ecosystem. This study has significance as an initial study on big data ecosystem. The results of the study can be useful guidelines to the government for making systemized big data ecosystem and the entrepreneur who is considering launching big data business.

  • 지역 산업생태계의 노후화 문제가 점차 심각해지면서, 지역 산업생태계의 쇠퇴를 측정하고 재생하기 위한 연구가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 하지만 지역 산업생태계 위기 예측에 관한 연구는 거의 이루어지지 않고 있다. 위기는 단기간에 걸쳐 급진적으로 나타나는데, 사후대응으로는 역부족인 경우가 대다수이므로 위기가 발생하기 전에 대응해야 한다. 즉, 지역 산업생태계의 위기를 조기에 파악하여 선제적인 대응을 하는 것이 장기적인 관점으로 바라봤을 때 더욱 필요하고 요구된다는 것이다. 이에 본 연구는 대용량의 뉴스 데이터를 활용하여 뉴스의 감성 점수에 따른 지역 산업생태계의 위기 예측 가능성을 점검하였다. Google 감성분석 API를 사용하여 뉴스 감성 분석을 실행하였고 이를 월별로 정리하여 감성 분석 결과 실제 이벤트 간의 연관관계를 확인하였다.

  • As the complexity of business environment increases rapidly the use advanced information technology start to affect not only the business processes of individual companies but also the fundamental nature of business and industrial ecosystem. The changes observed at the level of business and industrial ecosystem encompasses a broad range of transformation. This unit of analysis is not sufficiently dealt with by existing information system research. This research attempted to analyze the changes in business ecosystem caused by digital transformation using Social Network Analysis. We studied structural change of the Korea film industry ecosystem chronologically divided by critical events. The film industry is chosen because it is an industry very sensitive to the changes in technology and has gone through massive transformation during the last three decade by way of using modern information technology.

  • This research aims to identify promising IT items from the perspectives of Korean SMEs and further to development a policy for SMEs in the IT industry. For this purpose, we adopted a bottom-up approach by discovering IT items on high demand by SMEs as their now growth engines and thus used a survey method. We also analyzed the ecosystem characteristics for the items to help policy-makers establish customized strategy to support their growth. We believe that this research is timely when the concept of ecosystem has emerged and the role of SMEs is emphasized in the IT industry. And the research results are expected to produce valuable information to make a policy for promoting IT items for SMEs and ultimately leading to balanced growth of large firms and SMEs.

혁신 생태계 변화의 동인에 대한 이론과 사례 연구 : 표준이 역량분포와 거래비용의 진화적 변화에 미치는 영향 분석을 중심으로 (Understanding the Drivers for Migration to Innovation Ecosystem : The Influence of Standard on the Evolutionary Change of Capability Distribution and Transaction Costs)

  • This study attempts to explain the mechanism behind the migration from vertically integrated value chain architecture to an innovation ecosystem consisting of horizontally separated layers in value chain. We first present a comprehensive framework based on the theoretical analysis of the drivers for migration to an innovation ecosystem, which are standard (institution), capability distribution, and transaction costs. The theoretical framework suggests that the migration to an innovation ecosystem is explained by the influence of standard on the evolutionary change of capability distribution and transaction costs. In particular, when the new de-jure standard competes with the de-facto standard, the new de-jure standard has the greatest impact on the distribution capabilities and the transaction costs. Based on this theoretical framework, we analyze the latest SDN (Software Defined Networking) case of the network industry. SDN standard has transformed the industry from a vertically integrated value chain architecture to a horizontally separated one with its influence on the distribution capabilities and the transaction costs in the industry.

  • 본 연구는 생태계 중심으로 변화하는 ICT 산업 환경 하에서 국내 ICT 기업들이 생태계 경쟁력을 갖기 위해 필요한 정책을 제안한다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 ICT 사용자들의 특성 및 소비 트렌드 변화를 분석하고, 비즈니스 생태계 이론을 바탕으로 글로벌 ICT 기업인 애플과 구글의 생태계 추진 전략을 살펴보았다. 또한, 국내 ICT 산업의 문제점을 살펴보고 해외 ICT 정책을 분석하여 국내 기업들이 생태계 경쟁력을 강화하기 위해 필요한 정책 방향을 스마트한 생태계 조성, 전략적인 생태계 육성, 그리고 지속가능한 생태계의 3단계로 구분하여 제안하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 ICT 생태계 조성을 지원하기 위한 정부 정책 수립에 유용한 지침과 시사점을 제공할 것이다.

  • 세계 각국의 창업 활성화를 위한 노력과 더불어 한국의 창업에 대한 관심 역시 지속적으로 증가하고 있다. 그러나 한국의 창업생태계는 발전을 거듭하고 있음에도 불구하고 성공 모델을 지속적으로 양성하지 못한다는 한계를 지닌다. 이에 본 연구는 한국의 서울, 중국의 청두를 지리적 표본으로 선정하여 해당 지역의 창업생태계에서 기술창업 중심의 창업보육센터 종사자, 창업가와 인터뷰를 진행하고 그 결과를 사회, 경제, 정책적 부분으로 나누어 비교하고자 한다. 본 연구는 한국의 창업생태계의 발전을 위해 먼저 창업에 대한 인식이 생계형 창업에서 소프트웨어 기반 기술창업으로 이전되어야 하며, 투자환경 내 투자자는 단발적 지원금 대신 합자, 지분 매수와 같은 적극적인 투자방법을 써야 한다는 시사점을 제공했다. 또한 정부는 단순히 창업기업의 수를 늘리는 것이 아니라 스타트업의 성장에 초점을 맞추어 지원해야 한다는 결론을 도출했다는 점에서 향후 창업인프라 조성과 창업생태계 활성화 방안 마련 등의 정책자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

정보산업 생태계 문제의 근본원인 분석 (Root Cause Analysis of the Information Industry Ecosystem Problems)

  • Finding a root cause is an essential step to solving a complex problem. Some previous studies have used the Delphi method for gathering opinions about root causes from geographically dispersed experts. However, we assert that complicated problems such as an industry ecosystem would make a general type of the Delphi method less practical because of too much psychological burden on study participants. In this study we present a preliminary list-based Delphi study method for identifying a root cause. This method was used to identify a root cause and draw a causal map for the information industry ecosystem problems.
