QS-9000 was established by Chrysler, Ford, General Motors and some Truck Manufactures to solve problems of efforts to prepare original standards for each company. When we compare the requirements in QS-9000 with those in ISO 9000, we may observe that those of QS-9000 are more specific, since the user of the standard is limited to the automobile industry. In particular, the requirements on statistical techniques are described in more detail. In this paper, we present the requirements on statistical techniques in QS-9000. Specifically, we review the contents of QS-9000 and explore the philosophy and the minimum requirement on statistical techniques behind the description.

This paper is related to the effect analysis of certification of ISO 9000 Quality Management System. We collect and analyze the field data of certification costs and profit from companies that are located at southeast area in Korea. The effect analysis is based on the type and scale of companies. We use defective rate and inventory turnover rate as the criterion of positive effect after certification. As a result, we may conclude that the certification of ISO Quality Management System gives companies positive effects.

최근 품질경영 활동이 조직과 국가의 경쟁력과 전략적 우위를 결정하는 핵심역량이 되고 있다. 선진 선박검사기관도 국제선급연합회(ACS)의 요구사항에 따라 내부품질경영체제를 구축하여 운영하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 선박검사기관의 품질경영 활동과 선박안전의 관계를 살펴보고 최근 개정된 ISO 9000 : 2000 패밀리 규격의 고찰을 통해 해운,수산 및 조선업체의 시스템 전환에 다소나마 도움을 주고자 하였다. 본 연구에서는 선박검사기관의 품질경영 활동이 선박안전 향상 기여에 밀접하게 연관되어 있으며 이러한 사항을 충족하기 위해서는 품질경영 활성화가 중요함을 알 수 있었다.

The ISO (International Organization for Standardization) 9000 QMS (Quality Management System) standards specify requirements that need to demonstrate an organization's ability to consistently provide products or services. Korean companies have been implementing ISO 9000 QMS to compete in global markets. ISO 9000 QMS standards have been revised in 1994, 2000, 2008, and 2015 since the first release in 1987. The key change in ISO 9001:2015 is focused on risk-based thinking. It means that risk inherent within an organization is early identified and proactively controlled by use of all aspects of QMS rather than taking preventive actions. In this article we did literature review mainly on empirical study related to motivation and operation performance of ISO 9000 implementation. We present the necessity of changeover, features of new version, and comparison between new and old version. In order to see how well organizations can implement the new ISO 9001:2015 we focus on manufacturing companies that are going to convert to ISO 9001:2015 registration. We collect their key characteristics such as yearly sales, the number of MPI (Management Performance Indicators), the number of KPI (Key Performance Indicators), the number of quality control engineers, quality control engineer work experience, and the degree of adaptiveness between new ISO 9001:2015 QMS and QMS currently operating in manufacturing companies. Especially the degree of adaptiveness is analyzed by correlation analysis, regression analysis, ANOVA, and t-tests to discover the relationships among their characteristics. We found out that the degree of adaptiveness is linearly related to quality control engineer work experience and the number of MPI and KPI that is practically utilized in manufacturing companies. We summarize the implications discovered to help manufacturing industry convert to ISO 9001:2015 registration.

We analyze the current quality management status for firms producing steel outfits of ships and develop an efficient QMS appropriate to Korean steel outfit industry. The firms recently obtained ISO 9000 certificates and are located in Pusan ${\cdot}$ Kyungnam district of Korea. The analysis is based on the audit results from ISO 9000 for seven steel outfit firms during last three years. We find out major requirements of ISO 9000 and investigate statistical relationship among major requirements, types of data, and groups of firms by using a statistical package, SAS. Recommendations regarding add-on requirements are suggested to install an efficient QMS in Korean steel outfit firms.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of process approach for business performance of a company certified with ISO 9000 : 2000 quality management system. The result of this empirical research were identified as follows. Documentation and an intelligence process appeared with a preference matter in an influence to reach to a business performance of a company through the organization which established a process approach. It reveals that the process approach of quality management system might affect positively for customer satisfaction, product qualify, financial results and cost reduction.

The revised ISO9000 family of standards represents a significant improvement on the 1994 version and, if implemented well within organizations, should facilitate the development of effective, process-oriented Quality Management Systems. This paper describes how the International Standardized Testing Organization (ISTO) tests the understanding of ISO9000 : 2000, and presents an analysis of the results of the first examinations held in the UK, USA, Mexico and Hong Kong, in February and March 2001.
