A measurement unit and signal processing algorithm have been developed for predicting arterial oxygen saturation noninvasively. The measurement set-up was composed of a probe including light source and photodetector, optical signal processing section, LED driving circuit, PC interface software for data acquisition and data processing software. Light from the LED's was irradiated onto the finger nail bed and transmitted light was measured at different wavelengths. An effective baseline correction method was developed and measured data were analyzed by using various data processing methods and prediction algOlithms. For performance evaluation, a pulse oximeter simulator (Bio- Tek Instrument Inc.) was used as reference. The best performance in terms of the correlation coefficient and the standard deviation was obtained under the following conditions; when the arterial signals were computed in terms of area rather than peak-valley difference, and when the algorithm calculating by $In(I_p/I_v)/I_{avr}$ value for pulsation waveform was used. In in vivo test, prediction was improved when the developed baseline correction method was used. In addition, wavelengths of 660 nm and 940 nm provided better linearity and precision than wavelengths of 660 nm and 805 nm. 05 nm.
We have measured and analyzed the dark data of two PICNIC IR arrays (P574 and P560) obtained through the Cosmic Infrared Background ExpeRiment (CIBER). First, we identified three types of bad pixels: the cold, the hot, and the transient, which are figured in total as 0.06% for P574 and 0.19% for P560. Then, after the bad pixels were masked, we determined the dark noise to be 20.5 ${\pm}$ 0.05 $e^-$ and 16.1 ${\pm}$ 0.05 $e^-$, and the dark current to be 0.6 ${\pm}$ 0.05 $e^-$/sec and 0.7 ${\pm}$ 0.05 $e^-$/sec for P574 and P560, respectively. Finally, we discussed glitches and readout modes for a future mission.
Optical Band-pass Filter(BPF) for the selected wavelength of 4300 nm was designed and fabricated on Si wager by alternately depositing Ge and $SiO_2$ thin layers by an electron beam evaporation technique. The fabricated BPF showed the optical transmittance characteristics of 58.2% with FWHM(Full Width at Half Maximum) of 204 nm at 4300 nm, but showed the transmittance less than 5% due to the reflectance over all the wavelength ranges except 4300 nm band. The $CO_2$ sensitivity of BPF was investigated with the transmittance as a function of $CO_2$ gas concentration using a sensing cell attached to FT-IR instrument. The transmittance of BPF was almost linearly decreased with increasing of $CO_2$ concentration in the range of from 500 to 5000 ppm. The sensing structure using double BPFs showed higher slop of transmittance vs $CO_2$ concentration, and thus higher gas sensitivity than that using a single BPF, even though the former had relatively lower transmittance.

The purpose of this paper is to judge the damage cause of instrument transformer(MOF; Metering Out Fit) installed in 22.9kV power receiving system. In the three-dimensional analysis of the restored MOF, the damage pattern progressed from inside to outside, there was no damaged part in the upside. The resistance of the carbonized middle part is roughly $100\kappa\Omega$ and the exothermic temperature at inside is presumed as about $300\~800^{\circ}C$ in the result of metallurgical structure analysis. The structure and the composition rate on metal surface by SEM is similar. In the result of FT-IR analysis, we can observe the absorbtion peak at $1500cm^{-1}\;and\;1730 cm^{-1}$ is small. The high exothermic peak showed at the center part of the coil in the result of DTA.

To improve transfection efficiency, we prepared histidine-low molecular weight water-soluble chitosan (LMWSC) having the potential to form complex with DNA as a cationic polymer. Histidine-LMWSC was synthesized by the esterification reaction and removing phthaloyl group. The histidine-LMWSC was characterized using FT-IR, $^1H$ NMR spectra. Histidine-LMWSC was complexed with plasmid DNA (pDNA) in various polymer/DNA (N/P) weight ratios, and the complex was identified using gel retardation assay. The particle sizes of the hisitidine-LMWSC/DNA complexes were measured on a DLS instrument by fixing the histidine-LMWSC/DNA weight ratio of 10/1. Owing to the utilization of a large excess amount of cationic LMWSC against anionic DNA, the particle size of histidine-LMWSC/DNA complexes was in the range of 100~200 nm. Therefore, histidine-LMWSC will be useful in the development of gene carriers.
The Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission(TRMM) Satellite was launched in November 1997, carving into orbit the first space-borne Precipitation Radar(PR). The main objective of the TRMM is to obtain and study multi-year science data sets of tropical and subtropical rainfall measurements. In the present investigation, the characteristics of heavy rainfall cases over Korea in 1998 and 1999 are analyzed using the TRMM/PR dat3. We compare the rainrate measured from TRMM/PR with the accumulated rainfall data for 10 minutes tv Automatic Weather System(AWS). Especially, horizontal cross-section of rainrate with height and longitude in the precipitating clouds are investigated. As a result of the comparison with GMS-5 IR1, the TRMM/PR data delineate well the rain type( i.e. convective, stratiform cloud and others), height of storm top and instantaneous rainrate in the precipitating clouds. The vertical structure with height and horizontal cross-section of rainrate along the longitude show the orographic effect on the rainfall. TRMM/PR instrument measures the rainrate below 6 ㎜/hr more than AWS rainguages and inclined to underestimate the rainrate than rainguages for the whole area.
We developed autoguiding system for IGRINS (Immersion Grating Infrared Spectrograph) which is a high resolution near-IR spectrograph. This instrument will be attached on the 2.7m telescope at the McDonald observatory in 2013 November. IGRINS consists of three near-Infrared detector modules, i. e., H and K band spectrograph modules and a K band slit camera module, within which we are using the slit camera for autoguiding of the telescope. Comparing to typical optical CCDs, however, the infrared array shows non-uniform responses, higher noises, and many bad pixels. In this poster, we present methods to improve center finding functions and algorithms for the infrared array and the simulator test results of the IGRINS Slit-Camera Package.

This study examined hwangbek dyeability for cotton, silk, and wool from different tree species and origin as well as their berberine and palmatine content. A total of 12 different hwangbek were examined, six purchased directly from different locations of China and six purchased from the Seoul Medicine Market. Hwangbek purchased from China were 3 Kwanhwangbek (Phellodendron amurense Rupr.) from Jilin, Liaoning, Heilongjiang and 3 Chunhwangbek (Phellodendron chinense Schneid.) from Sichuan, Yunnan, and Guangxi. Hwangbek purchased from the Seoul Medicine Market included 3 hwangbek that originated from Korea and 3 hwangbek imported from China. We extracted 2.5g of each hwangbek into 500mL of water for 60 min at $80^{\circ}C$. Dyeing was conducted using the IR dyeing machine for 30min at $55^{\circ}C$ using a 1:100 liquor ratio. Cotton was mordanted using tannic acid followed by potassium antimonyl tartrate trihydrate treatment before dyeing. Berberine and palmatine pigments in hwangbek were identified with the HPLC-DAD-MS instrument and the amount of pigment was quantified using an ion chromatogram. The results indicated that the K/S values of dyed fabrics were highly related to the amount of pigment in hwangbek used for dyeing.
Novel porous silicon chip exhibiting dual optical properties, both Frbry-Perot fringe (optical reflectivity) and photoluminescence had been developed and used as chemical sensors. Porous silicon samples were prepared by an electrochemical etch of p-type sillicon wafer (boron-doped, <100> orientation, resistivity 1 - 10 ${\Omega}$). The ething solution was prepared by adding an equal volume of pure ethanol to an aqueous solution of HF (48% by weight). The porous silicon was illuminated with a 300 W tungsten lamp for the duration of etch. Ething was carried out as a two-electrode Kithley 2420 preocedure at an anodic current. The surface of porous silicon was characterized by FT-IR instrument. The porosity of samples was about 80%. Three different types of porous silicon, fresh porous silicon (Si-H termianated), oxidized porous silicon (Si-OH terminated), and surface-derivatized porous silicon (Si-R terminated), were prepared by the thermal oxidation and hydrosilylation. Then the samples were exposed to the wapor of various organics vapors. such as chloroform, hexane, methanol, benzene, isopropanol, and toluene. Both reflectivity and photoluminescence were simultaneously measured under the exposure of organic wapors.

Photonic force microscopy (PFM) is an optical tweezers-based scanning probe microscopy, which measures the forces in the range of fN to pN. The low stiffness leads proper to measure single molecular interaction. We introduce a novel photonic force microscopy to stably map various chemical properties as well as topographic information, utilizing weak molecular bond between probe and object's surface. First, we installed stable optical tweezers instrument, where an IR laser with 1064 nm wavelength was used as trapping source to reduce damage to biological sample. To manipulate trapped material, electric driven two-axis mirrors were used for x, y directional probe scanning and a piezo stage for z directional probe scanning. For resolution test, probe scans with vertical direction repeatedly at the same lateral position, where the vertical resolution is ~25 nm. To obtain the topography of surface which is etched glass, trapped bead scans 3-dimensionally and measures the contact position in each cycle. To acquire the chemical mapping, we design the DNA oligonucleotide pairs combining as a zipping structure, where one is attached at the surface of bead and other is arranged on surface. We measured the rupture force of molecular bonding to investigate chemical properties on the surface with various loading rate. We expect this system can realize a high-resolution multi-functional imaging technique able to acquire topographic map of objects and to distinguish difference of chemical properties between these objects simultaneously.
