Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) provides an interactive and personalized service for realizing integrated broadcasting and telecommunication services. Set-top box (SIB) connected to TV is an essential component required for IPTV and has a unique hardware identifier used in identification and authentication. It means that subscriber authentication based on box-level identification is inconsistent with IPTV's main intention of providing personalized services. The proposed solution is to provide an opportunity to use the flexible user-centric authentication mechanism through Java Card applets in IPTV application server and 3G networks. This paper suggests personalized services by moving the user's private data and authentication management beyond the STB to a truly personalized device, the ubiquitous mobile phone. In addition, this paper presents effectiveness and security analysis for verifying the proposal.

The P2P IPTV will create a new paradigm for the Internet services. However, it cannot guarantee the reliability of their server and QoS because of using common Internet users(peers) for SIP server or relay server, though the infrastructural cost is low. This paper proposes the ISP-based P2P IPTV architecture which can solute the limitations of conventional P2P-based IPTV. In this model, ISP can build P2P overlay network with ISP servers and directly manage each server needed for session connection. So, the servers have higher performance and better reliability than previous one. Besides, robustness is improved because each sever is set by P2P overlay network. To evaluate the characteristics of the ISP-based P2P IPTV architecture, we simulate it for some parameters which are end-to-end streaming delay time, connection delay time and traffic amount. We compared the proposed architecture with the conventional P2P architecture about video service and confirmed that the performance of ISP-based P2P IPTV is better than conventional P2P based IPTV.

Presently, the demand for IPTV, to satisfy a variety of goals, is exploding. IPTV is coming into the spotlight as a killer application in upcoming IP convergence networks such as triple play which is the delivery of voice, internet, and video service to a subscriber. IPTV utilizes CAS, which controls the subscriber access to content for a profit. Although the current CAS scheme provides access control via subscriber authentication, there is no authentication scheme for the content transmitted from service providers. Thus, there is a vulnerability of security, through which an adversary can forge content between the service provider and subscribers and distribute malicious content to subscribers. In this paper, based on a hash tree scheme, we proposed efficient and strong source authentication protocols which remove the vulnerability of the current IPTV system. We also evaluate our protocol from a view of IPTV requirements.

With the advent of integration environment of broadcasting and communication, IPTV has been widely used. It provides services such as information, movie contents and broadcasting through TV using super-high speed networks. Developments of Wireless LAN and IP network technology create various and fusional services such as IPTV, VoIP that are based on IP network. The development of Wireless LAN is very important in IPTV network field which requires the best quality of service on the security, QoS and bandwidth. In this Paper, We configure the experimental network in its RIP and OSPF environment to test the Video Quality of IPTV in Wireless LAN. We measure and evaluate broadcasting quality by using PSNR to show the corelation of Routing Protocols in Wireless LAN in which how they affect to the IPTV real-time Video Quality.

Due to the advancement of IPTV technologies, Mobile IPTV service is needed to be supported for service and content protection. CAS is generally used in the IPTV service to protect service and content. However, the CAS is not efficient in the Mobile IPTV. The CAS needs too much bandwidth for Service Key update to the each subscriber. Moreover, the CAS is increasing computation burden for the service key refreshment in the key management server when the subscriber frequently changes of the IPTV service group. To solve the problems, we used hierarchical key structure based on pre-shared key that is securely stored into smart card or USIM and do not use the EMM for Service Key update. As a result, the proposed scheme decreases computation burden at the key management server and wireless bandwidth burden in the Mobile IPTV service.

IPTV has risen as a new driving force amid concerns against the saturated internet market and gained enormous attention of both the government and industry as niche market. Especially, IPTV banking which is one of the major services, IPTV has risen up recently as another financial service channel. Prior to the expansion of the new technology, this study attempts to predict its success possibility. In order to grasp variables that would effect formation of user intention of potential adopters, and external variables that influence user intention of IPTV banking have been confirmed and studied empirically based on Technology Acceptance Model(TAM). As a result, it was validated that self?efficacy, facilitating condition, social influence, and perceived importance to TV banking needs are the influential variables. Therefore, one may able to find appropriate direction of marketing activities for effective expansion of IPTV banking service through this study. Also, considering the fact that the number of service users has absolute influence over profit determination in the IPTV banking service industry, the study about characteristics and intention of such potential adopters could certainly be significant.

The IPTV which was commercialized and is being serviced to customers at present has a complicated GUI (Graphical User Interface) to provide two-way services and a remote control containing more than 40 buttons unlike the conventional TV. Accordingly, the remote control becomes one of the causes that make the usability of the IPTV worsen. In this paper, we suggest a LED button guide system as a solution to improve a usability of the IPTV, and analyze the effects of the interface obtained from the user evaluation on the user action.

The principal objective of the work is to confirm the effects of perceived interactivity, trust, and emotion on intentions to use IPTV service. The empirical investigation into IPTV service users suggests that (i) the perception of interactivity should be directly related with trust, (ii) Users' trust should bolster users' emotion in a positive or negative aspect, and (iii) such emotion is verified to affect the intention to use IPTV continuously. More specifically, we demonstrate that positive and negative emotions influence user intentions positively and negatively. Additionally, we find that the trust mediates perceived interactivity and emotions, and both trust and emotion mediate the relationship between perceived interactivity and intentions to use IPTV. The work indicates that trust and emotion of users should be considered from IS perspective in an attempt to build the intention to use IPTV. IPTV firms should consider in their IPTV design and offering strategy how to enhance positive emotions for user retention and eventually bolster intentions to use IPTV continuously.

IPTV, which is convergence of Communication and Broadcasting, has improved quickly recently. This service can provide high quality and various services to their customers, such as choosing channels freely, VOD and many kinds of Interactive service. As the technology of IPTV rapid development, more and more people worry about its disadvantages during the spread and apply, for instance, the illegal application, illegal copy, access authority abuse and the danger of the IPTV contents. This paper will provide the solution to solve these problems, through the Public Key Certificate of PKI(Public Key Infrastructure) and the Attribute Certificate of PMI(Privilege Management Infrastructure).

본 연구의 목적은 기존의 미디어 패러다임을 급격히 변화시키고 있는 IPTV 서비스를 대상으로 도입 3년 시점에서의 경제적 성과를 분석하는 한편, 향후 3년간 IPTV 서비스 도입에 따른 경제적 파급효과와 비교 분석하는 것이다. 비교대상이 되는 경제적 성과는 생산유발효과, 소득유발효과, 고용 유발효과를 포함한다. 우리는 이 분석을 통하여 IPTV 서비스가 과거 3년동안 어떤 산업에 어느 정도의 영향을 미쳤으며, 향후 어떤 산업에 큰 영향을 미칠지 전망할 수 있다.
