  • It is necessary to develop a bridgehead port for trading with northern countries to promote trade through the East Sea because the East Sea Rim economic bloc around the Northeast Asia including South Korea, China, Russia, Japan, and North Korea has a high growth potential in the future. Therefore, this study aims to suggest a strategic direction to enhance the competitiveness of Donghae Port through reinforcement of container cargoes by conducting Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) for stakeholders of Donghae Port. The analysis results suggest that it is necessary to improve the five evaluation factors: attractiveness of container and bulk volumes, appropriate ratio of export/import container quantities, frequency of vessel entry and diversity of sea routes, convenience of complex linked transportation, and competitiveness of cargo handling equipment. The implications of this study are as follows. First, it is necessary to continuously research the current status of container and bulk cargo volumes of the port and ways to increase the absolute cargo volume. Second, we need to consider realistic alternatives to improve the ratio of export/import container quantities. Third, in terms of network, we should establish a service improvement plan to increase the frequency of port calls and the diversity of sea routes. Furthermore, incentives should be provided to increase the trade volume of Donghae Port through strengthened complex linked transportation function. Finally, it is urgently necessary to provide investment support for container handling equipment as an essential requirement for the activation of the container cargoes in Donghae Port.

  • Information service organizations that provide science and technology information with a relatively short information life cycle for free or paid are in need of reflecting rapidly changing user needs and behaviors and grafting the latest technologies. The purpose of this study is to derive improvements for each system by comparing and analyzing general recognition of science and technology information users' domestic and foreign science and technology information sites and importance by science and technology information attributes. A total of 816 users of science and technology information participated in the online survey, and the collected data were analyzed by quantitative methods including IPA (Importance Performance Analysis) technique. The importance was evaluated by the impact value calculated through regression analysis. As a result of data analysis, the general recognition of users on science and technology information sites was relatively high in national science and technology information services, and Google Scholar and Science Direct were also high. Google Scholar was found to have more strength than improvement. A better understanding of the user's preferred system is a good driving force for improving the lack of existing systems. It is necessary to improve the information retrieval of the science and technology information service system, that is, to improve the search speed and functions, and also to improve the user interface with improved convenience and usability.

  • Due to the increase of size and complexity of construction project, the frequency of serious accidents in construction industry has been increased. Especially, the proportion of accidents in formwork of building construction site is very high, and many previous studies have been conducted to preventing them in the viewpoint of the diverse approaches. However, their effectiveness on accidents prevention was poor, and as a result, it is limited to consider the potential risks because many workers and managers tend not to be concerned with unsafe factors in formwork. Therefore, in this study, a realistic and proactive way for analyzing these potential risks was proposed in the manner of quantitatively assessing the potentials resulted from the unsafe factors in formwork. To verify the applicability of the proposed methodology, group survey was carried out, and the results were compared with those of the traditional importance-performance analysis(hereafter IPA) technique. Through the use of the proposed methodology, unsafe factors that were not found in the IPA but have potential risk were identified. Eventually, this study is expected to contribute to the proactive prevention of construction serious disaster accidents in formwork by enabling a more efficient management.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the self-diagnosis methodology based on process for improving the effectiveness in public institutions service and to suggest it. For this goal, we would like to select the management methodology which can be easily handled from the viewpoint of working personnel in the public institutions and make it as a process. First, the strategy for the public institutions and the strategic task for practicing it are acquired using BSC (Balanced Score Card) which is now under the active research. At this time, the relative degree of significance is derived using the AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) which is conducted for the professionals and management to get the degree of importance in the strategic tasks. The acquired relative degree of significance and the figures related to the performance of each strategic task derived from the subsequent questionnaire are used to get the final highly efficient strategic task through IPA (Importance Performance Analysis). In this study, this process based self diagnosis methodology will be explained in detail using the case of Project A in order to verify the effectiveness of the management science technique on the self diagnosis of the public institutions.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the fracture strength between the core and veneering ceramic according to 2 core materials, In-Ceram Alumina and In-Ceram Zirconia, fabricated by electro ceramic layering technique. 2 different fixed partial denture cores of three units were veneered by veneering ceramic(Ceranion, Noritake) (n=10). Methods: The fracture strengths between the core and veneering ceramic were measured through the 3 point bending test. The interfaces between the core and veneering ceramic were observed with the X-ray dot mapping of EPMA. Results: The result of fracture strength was observed that IZP group, In-Ceram Zirconia core, had higher fracture strength. IPA group, In-Ceram Alumina core, had fracture strength of 359.9(${\pm}$86.2) N. IZP group, In-Ceram Zirconia core, had fracture strength of 823.2(${\pm}$243.0) N. X-ray dot mapping observation showed that a major element in the core and veneering ceramic of IPA group was alumina and silica, respectively. No binder was observed in interfaces between the core and veneering ceramic, and no ion diffusion or transition was observed between the core and veneering ceramic. However, apparent ion diffusion or transition was observed between the core and veneering ceramic of IZP group.
