This study examined the magnitude and distribution of earth pressure on the excavation wall in jointed rock mass by considering different groundwater conditions under various rock types, joint inclination angles, and earth pressure coefficients. Based on a physical model test (Son and Park, 2014), extended studies were conducted considering rock-structure interactions based on the discrete element method, which can consider the joints characteristics of rock mass. The results showed that the earth pressure was highly influenced by the groundwater condition as well as the rock type, joint inclination angle, and earth pressure coefficient. The results were also compared with Peck's earth pressure for soil ground, and clearly showed that the earth pressure in jointed rock mass can be greatly different from that in soil ground.
To study the evolution mechanism of cracks in rocks with multiple defects, rock-like samples with multiple defects, such as strip-shaped through-going cracks and cavity groups, are used, and the crack propagation law and changes in AE (acoustic emission) and strain of cavity groups under different inclination angles are studied. According to the test results, an increase in the cavity group inclination angle can facilitate the initial damage degree of the rock and weaken the crack initiation stress; the initial crack initiation direction is approximately 90°, and the extension angle is approximately 75~90° from the strip-shaped through-going cracks; thus, the relationship between crack development and cavity group initiation strengthens. The specific performance is as follows: when the initiation angle is 30°, the cracks between the cavities in the cavity group develop relatively independently along the parallel direction of the external load; when the angle is 75°, the cracks between the cavities in the cavity group can interpenetrate, and slip can occur along the inclination of the cavity group under the action of the shear mechanism rupture. With the increase in the inclination angle of the cavity group, the AE energy fluctuation frequency at the peak stress increases, and the stress drop is obvious. The larger the cavity group inclination angle is, the more obvious the energy accumulation and the more severe the rock damage; when the cavity group angle is 30° or 75°, the peak strain of the local area below the strip-shaped through-going fracture plane is approximately three times that when the cavity group angle is 45° and 60°, indicating that cracks are easily generated in the local area monitored by the strain gauge at this angle, and the further development of the cracks weakens the strength of the rock, thereby increasing the probability of major engineering quality damage. The research results will have important reference value for hazard prevention in underground engineering projects through rock with natural and artificial defects, including tunnels and air-raid shelters.
The simple method of the geometric reconstruction of satellite linear pushbroom images is investigated. The model of the sensor used is based on the SPOT model that is developed by Kraiky. The satellite trajectory is a Keplerian trajectory in the approximation. Four orbital parameters, longitude of the ascending $node(\omega),$ inclination of the orbit plan(I), latitude argument of the satellite(W) and distance between earth center and satellite, are used for the camera modeling. We suppose that four orbital parameters and satellite attitude angles are exactly acquired. Then, in order to refine model, the given attitude angles and orbital parameters is not changed, but time-independent four parameters associated with LOS(Line Of Sight) vector is updated. A pair of SPOT-5 images has been used for validation of proposed method. Two GCPs acquired by GPS survey is used to controlling the LOS vector. The results are that the RMSE of 16 checking points are about 4.5m. Because the ground resolution of SPOT-5 is 2.5m, the result obtained in this study has a good accuracy. It demonstrates that the sensor model developed by this study can be used to reconstruct the geometry of satellite image taken by pushbroom camera.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the stationarity of the electromyographic signal in various flexion angles, loads, and window sizes, which influence the result of the mean power frequency (MPF) and median frequency (MNF) analysis. Six healthy subjects participated in the experiment. They were tested in the combination of 3-level flexion angles (0 degree, 22.5 degree, 45 degree) and 3-level loads (0Nm, 30Nm, 60Nm). Electromyographic data were collected for 20 seconds during isometric contraction. The stationarity of collected data were analyzed with four different window sizes including 250, 500, 1000 and 2000ms. Two test methods for stationarity such as Reverse Arrangements Test and Modified Reverse Arrangements Test were used. In order to show the effect of nonstationarity, the increasing/decreasing trend of MPF and MNF trend were discussed. In results, the stationarity of the electromyographic signal decreased as flexion angle increased and load decreased while window size decreased based on Reverse Arrangements Test. The highest stationarity was shown at 500 ms window in Modified Reverse Arrangements Test. The inclination of MNF and MPF indicated 3.6-6.3%, 3.8-5.1% discrepancy compared to the result from stationary data.

Film cooling performance from two rows of holes with opposite orientation angles is evaluated in terms of heat flux ratio. The film cooling hole has a fixed inclination angle of 35°and orientation angle of 45°for the downstream row and -45°for the upstream row. Four film cooling hole arrangements including inline and staggered configurations are investigated. The blowing ratio studied was 1.0. Boundary layer temperature distributions are measured to investigate injectant behaviors and mixing characteristics. Detailed distributions of the adiabatic film cooling effectiveness and the heat transfer coefficient are measured using TLC(Thermochromic Liquid Crystal). For the inline configuration, there forms a downwash flow at the downstream hole exit to make the injectant well attach to the wall, which gives high adiabatic film cooling effectiveness and heat transfer coefficient. The evaluation of heat flux ratio shows that the inline configuration gives better film cooling performance with the help of the downwash flow at the downstream hole exits.

The Directed Energy Deposition (DED) is a representative metal additive manufacturing method. Owing to its strong point of repairment, its application is gradually spreading in aerospace applications, power generation, military components, and mold making. 5-axis cladding is needed to repair damage, such as wear and scratches on cylindrical surfaces to circular-shaped parts, including sleeves and liners. Furthermore, the condition of cladding on inclined parts must also be considered to prevent interference between the nozzle and the part. In this study, the effects of changes in scanning speed due to the 5-axis control system and differences from the height of laser beam irradiation due to inclination are evaluated among the items that should be additionally considered in 5-axis cladding compared to 3-axis cladding. Moreover, the trends of the width and height of the clad are identified by different tilting angles via single line cladding. Lastly, cladding methods on cylindrical surfaces at various angles are proposed to enhance the clad quality and post-processing efficacy. These results can be applied with 5-axis cladding on inclined surfaces, including cylindrical surfaces.
In Taiwan, an efficient approach for enhancing the stability of colluvium slopes is the drilled shaft method. For slopes with drilled shafts, the soil arching effect is one of the primary factors influencing slope stability and intertwines to the failure mechanism of the pile-soil system. In this study, the contribution of soil arching effect to slope stability is evaluated using the FEM software (Plaxis 3D) with the built-in strength reduction technique. The result indicates the depth of the failure surface is influenced by the S/D ratio (the distance to the diameter of piles), which can reflect the contribution of the soil arching effect to soil stability. When α (rock inclination angles)=β (slope angles) is considered and the S/D ratio=4, the failure surface of the slope is not significantly influenced by the piles. Overall, the soil arching effect is more significant on α=β, especially for the steep slopes. Additionally, the soil arching effect has been included in the proposed stability charts. The proposed charts were validated through two case studies, including that of the well-known Woo-Wan-Chai field in Taiwan. The differences in safety factor (FoS) values between the referenced literature and this study was approximately 4.9%.
A new deformation of reinforcing bar in coils was proposed to improve a machinability of straightening process, which has crescent-shaped transverse ribs with an inclination angle of 50 degrees, a crest width of $0.15d_b$, and a flank inclination of 55 degrees. The proposed deformation can increase contact area between a surface of re-bar and a groove of a roller during a straightening process and, therefore, it might reduce a damage of ribs, improve a final straightness, and enhance an efficiency of the straightening process. Splice tests were conducted to evaluate bond strengths of three types of re-bar in coils including the proposed re-bar, of which the inclination angles of transverse ribs were 50, 60, and 90 degrees, respectively. Test results show that the re-bars in coils have higher bond strengths than predicted strengths by equations of Orangun et al., ACI 408, and KCI by at least 10%. Correlation coefficients of bond strengths between a straight bar and re-bars in coils are 0.94 and more. Consequently, equations of the KCI code for determining development and splice lengths can be applied to the tested re-bars in coils.

The change detection in remote sensing results in errors due to the camera's optical factors, seasonal factors, and land cover characteristics. The inclination of the building in the image was simulated according to the camera angle using the Cycle Generative Adversarial Network method, and the simulated image was used to contribute to the improvement of change detection accuracy. Based on CycleGAN, the inclination of the building was similarly simulated to the building in the other image based on the image of one of the two periods, and the error of the original image and the inclination of the building was compared and analyzed. The experimental data were taken at different times at different angles, and Kompsat-3A high-resolution satellite images including urban areas with dense buildings were used. As a result of the experiment, the number of incorrect detection pixels per building in the two images for the building area in the image was shown to be reduced by approximately 7 times from 12,632 in the original image and 1,730 in the CycleGAN-based simulation image. Therefore, it was confirmed that the proposed method can reduce detection errors due to the inclination of the building.
To construct the extrusion die surface, a B-Spline surface scheme based on the cubic B-Spline curve interpolation method is proposed in the present work. The inlet and outlet profiles are described with B-Spline curves by using the centripetal method for uniform parameterization. The interior control points of surface are generated using the derivative characteristics of B-Spline curve. A complete B-Spline surface is constructed by using appropriate coordinate transformation and knot deletion. In the present study, a quantitative measure for the control of surface is suggested by introducing the tangential vector and inclination angles at the inlet and outlet sections. To verify the validity of the proposed method, automatic surface generation is carried out for the various types of extrusion die surface.
