Application of dithering control for the railway wheel squealing noise mitigation

  • A new methodology for mitigation of the wheel squealing is proposed and investigated based on the dithering control. The idea can be applied in railway lines particularly in urban areas. The idea is clearly presented, and applied to a validated model. A full-scale model including the vehicle, curved track and wheel/rail contact is developed in the time domain to analyze the possibility and level of wheel squeal noise. Comparing the numerical results with a field test, the model is validated in different levels namely i) occurrence, ii) squealing frequency and iii) noise level. Two different approaches are proposed a) dithering of the wheel with piezoelectric patches and b) dithering of the rail with piezoelectric stacks. The noise level as well as the wheel responses is compared after applying the control strategy. A parametric study is carried out and effect of the dithering voltage and frequency on the squealing noise is investigated. It is found that both the strategies perform quite effectively within the saturating threshold of piezoelectric actuators.

  • 예측의 중요성은 경제상황의 급변 등으로 점차 중요해지고 있다. 예측 모델을 구현하기 위해서는 다수의 데이터 엔지니어와 사이언티스트들이 프로젝트에 참여하게 된다. 이때 모델을 고도화 시키기 위하여 다양한 예측모델 아이디어가 제시된다. 제시된 모든 아이디어의 유효성을 판단하기 위하여 예측 모델에 대한 정확도를 테스트하고 유효하지 않은 경우 다시 모델을 재설계하고 개발하는데 오랜 시간이 소요된다. 본 연구에서는 다양한 아이디어를 하나의 모델로 통합하는 가장 효율적인 방법론을 찾기 위하여 레고 형태의 개발 방법론을 제시한다. 레고 형태의 개발방법론은 각 아이디어에 대한 개발 코드에 대하여 동일한 데이터 레이아웃을 설정함에 따라 가능하다. 따라서 아이디어 별로 유효성 검증이 가능하고 레고 형태로 개발함에 따라 아이디어의 추가 및 삭제가 용이하여 전체 개발공정 시간을 단축할 수 있다. 마지막으로 제시한 방법이 실제 아이디어의 추가/삭제가 용이한지 개발 및 테스트를 수행하였다.

GROW모델을 활용한 1:1 코칭과 예시 아이디어가 신제품 개발 아이디어 창의성에 미치는 영향 (The effect of the 1:1 coaching and the example ideas with the GROW model on the creativity of new product development ideas)

  • 본 연구는 GROW모델을 활용한 1:1코칭과 예시 아이디어가 신제품 아이디어 창의성에 미치는 영향을 살펴보기 위한 실험 연구이다. 참여자는 신제품 개발 관련 업종과 관계가 없는 성인 32명으로 구성하였으며, 1:1 코칭 그룹, 예시 아이디어 그룹, 통제 그룹으로 무작위 배정하여 실험을 진행하였다. 참가자가 답변한 아이디어는 실험 후 전문가 집단 4인이 참신성, 적합성, 지불의사가격을 측정해 아이디어 창의성을 평가하였으며, 최종분석에는 30명의 실험자료와 3명의 전문 평가 자료가 사용되었다. 연구 결과 GROW 모델을 활용한 1:1 코칭은 신제품 아이디어 창의성에 유의미한 영향을 미쳤으며, 특히 참신성에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 예시 아이디어 그룹은 참신성과 적합성에서 통제집단을 포함한 세 그룹 중 가장 낮은 점수를 받아 아이디어 창의성에 부정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 창의적인 아이디어를 제시하는 업무나 상황에서 코칭 활용에 대한 시사점과 제한점을 논의하였으며, 후속 연구에 대한 제언을 하였다.

The Influence of Cognitive Factors on the Creative Abilities in Design -Focused on the Sensory Modalities and Thinking Modes-

  • The primary purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of Cognitive Factors (CF) on the Creative Abilities (CAs) in design. We set up a model of Cognitive Design Process (CDP), which consists of four domains: Concepts, Experience, Five Senses (FS), and Thinking Modes (TM). Here, experience is first perceived by the five senses, and then recognized by intelligence. We regard design as a transforming process from concept to experience. For this study, two major Sensory Modalities (Visual and Kinesthetic), four Thinking Modes (Brain Dominance Profile), and four Creative Abilities (Fluency, Flexibility, Originality, and Elaboration) were reviewed. We hypothesized that idea generation is influenced by different Sensory Modalities (Visual Sense vs. Kinesthetic Sense) and Thinking Modes, and that these have a close relationship with the attributes of CAs. Firstly, we have examined the cognitive thinking model in design. Then, we adapted the Test of Creative Abilities of Design Thinking (TCADT) for measuring CAs. We surveyed the CAs under CF in particular. Finally, we have investigated the influences of the different Sensory Modalities (Visual Sense vs. Kinesthetic Sense) on CAs. It was found that a close relationship between Brain Dominance and CAs, and Sensory Modalities (SM) have different influence on these creative abilities. As a result, a tool for the Test of CAs and a framework for creative idea generation with the effective CF will be presented. These provide the basis for a new approach to creative idea generation in Experience Design.

  • The rapid development of computer technology and widely application of artificial intelligent provide technology support for realizing navigation automation on the sea. which has achieved great success in shipping advanced countries like japan, England, America, Germany and also in the developing country, China. However, it still remains in the studying Period up to now in aspects of collision avoidance decision-making mathematical model and reasoning mechanism. In this paper, approaches are proposed to establish the collision avoidance automation system. One of them is based on the former studies to realize automation system by make use of finite state machine theory and following the International regulations for Preventing Collision at Sea, 1972. The others are to establish the new idea about automatic collision avoidance system by taking advantage of the free flight idea, hybrid system, game theory used in air traffic management studies in recent years and the common characteristics in both air and sea traffic management.

  • Data security is an important issue in today's computer networks. In order to construct a safe infra in the open communication network, a cryptography is necessarily applied to several communication application fields like a high-speed networking system supporting real-time operation. A cryptography which has already realized by a software is designed by using a hardware to improve a throughput. In this paper, we design hardware architecture of IDEA by using a single iterative round method to improve a encryption throughput. In addition, we intend to develop a hardware design methodology that a specific cryptography operate with high-speed. The hardware model is described in VHDL and synthesized by the Samsung KG 80 Library in the Synopsys development software tool. With a system clock frequency 20MHz, this hardware permits a data conversion rate of more than 116 Mbit/s.

  • In the automobile industry, lamps are frequently used as a mean to emphasize each company's brand identity. Therefore, many detailed design models have emerged in order to realize a differentiated image in preparation for competitive vehicles. Among them, the design of a multi compartment lighting image concept that realizes light divided in multiple space also being introduced by various manufacturers. In this study, in order to solve the problem of cost and weight rise that the existing multi compartment image lamp has, using TRIZ method such as functional analysis modeling and trimming. Through this process, an idea to minimize cost and weight was derived. As the idea was designed in detail, the formation of light did not go as desired, and the diffusion of light also proceeded differently than intended. In order to overcome this problem, a new concept of corrosion and diffusion structure was applied. Eventually, it overcomes various problems and successfully applied it to a real vehicle. The idea was actually reflected in the "Santa Fe" model. Later, the media focused on the lamps to which the idea was applied, and contributed to the sale of a large number of vehicles by providing consumers with a new light sensibility. During the research process, it was possible to secure a number of patents and knowledge of new design concepts.

아이디어 창작을 위한 융합 교육 과정 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on Convergence Curriculum Development for Idea Creation)

  • 융합(Convergence)은 2개 이상의 상이한 요소들을 결합하여 새로운 것을 만들어 내는 것을 말한다. 현재 융합 영역은 이종기술간 결합이라는 개념에서 산업, 교육 분야까지 확대되고 있으며 성공적인 융합의 가장 중요한 핵심은 문제 해결을 위한 아이디어 도출이다. 그러나 기업에서 진행되는 아이디어 도출은 기획 전문가 등의 전문 인력을 채용하여 신제품 기획 및 기업 혁신을 이끌어 낸 사례가 대부분이다. 이러한 경우 다양한 융합 산출물을 기대하기 어려운 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 일반인들의 아이디어 창작을 위한 교육과정을 개발하는 것이다. 개발 모델은 1) 내적 역량 강화를 위한 창의적 사고 능력, 2) 수요자에 맞는 교육과정, 3) 융합 기술에 대한 이해, 4) 아이디어 창작 및 기획 능력 4가지의 개념으로 구성된다. 제안된 교육 모델을 융합 교육에 적용하는 경우 창의적인 아이디어를 갖는 융합 인력이 양성될 것이라고 기대된다.

  • The modern approach for wavelets imposes a Bayesian prior model on the wavelet coefficients to capture the sparseness of the wavelet expansion. The idea is to build flexible probability models for the marginal posterior densities of the wavelet coefficients. In this note, we derive exact expressions for a popular model for the marginal posterior density.
