Objectives: The purpose of the study is to investigate the relationship between saliva factors and oral hygiene factors in adults. Methods: The subjects were 112 adults from April 1 to June 15, 2014. The selected salivary factors included stimulated/unstimulated salivary flow rates, salivary buffering capacity and pH, and the selected oral hygiene factors included halitosis, wet weight of tongue plaque and oral humidity in dorsum and inferior surface of tongue. Results: There were significant differences in stimulated/unstimulated salivary flow rates, oral malodor and wet weight of tongue plaque. There were significant differences according to age in stimulated/unstimulated salivary flow rates, salivary buffering capacity and wet weight of tongue plaque. Age had a negative correlation with salivary buffering capacity and had a positive correlation with wet weight of tongue plaque. Unstimulated salivary flow rate had a positive correlation with stimulated salivary flow rate, and stimulated salivary flow rate was positively correlated with oral humidity of inferior surface of tongue, salivary buffering capacity and halitosis. Oral humidity of inferior surface of tongue had a positive correlation with salivary buffering rate, pH and halitosis. Salivary buffering capacity was positively correlated with pH, and pH was negatively correlated with halitosis. Conclusions: The salivary factors were linked to the oral hygiene. As there may be great changes in salivary flow rate and oral hygiene due to various factors, the salivary factors seem to be one of the major factors to ensure oral hygiene and to promote oral health.
Objectives : The objective of this study is to investigate the work value factors and the professional attitude factors of dental hygienists and provide basic data for dental hygiene curricula. Methods : A total of 329 dental hygiene students in 4 universities completed the questionnaire which consisted of 15 questions for the work value factors and 10 questions for the professional attitude factors. Correlation between the work value factors and the professional attitude factors was analyzed. Results : The "students with no clinical practice experience (4.34 points)" were seen to be statistically significant (p= .013) in the work value factors, as compared to the "students with clinical practice experience (4.19 points)". In accordance with the grade level (p= .000), conformity in aptitude (p= .022), satisfaction level for the major (p= .000), desired duration of career (p= .009), and presence of recommendation for dental hygiene department (p= .000), the professional attitude factors had statistically significant differences. The higher the scores of the work value factors of dental hygiene students, the higher the scores of the professional attitude factors appeared, there by showing a positive (+) correlation (r= .367). Conclusions : For the cultivation of work value factors and professional attitude factors for dental hygiene students, it is necessary to improve the educational system that reflects the operation of a counseling and mentoring by the utilization of structured personality type testing tools and an improvement of interpersonal relationships.
Objectives: This study was aimed at investigating the oral hygiene device use by cardiovascular disease patients and assessing related factors. Methods: We used data of 1,630 cardiovascular disease patients (including hypertension, stroke, and myocardial infarction) from the 7th Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2016-2018). The χ2 test and logistic regression analysis were performed to analyze the oral hygiene device use by the subjects and assess related factors. All statistical analyses were performed with the IBM SPSS Statistics, version 20.0. Results: The oral hygiene device use and related factors were significantly higher in patients with an educational level of middle school or below high school, with a score of 1.85 (95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.35-2.53), or college, with a score of 1.93 (95% CI = 1.19-3.14), compared to those with an educational level below primary school. Further, the oral hygiene device use and related factors were significantly higher in patients who answered 'yes', with a score of 1.96 (95% CI = 1.42-2.73), compared to those who answered 'no' to the question on oral examination. Conclusions: More patients with cardiovascular disease did not use oral hygiene devices than those who did. It is necessary to expand the approach of preventive treatment to increase the utilization rate of oral hygiene devices.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate role·activity factors, ideal·value factors stress and stress amount relationship in clinical practice of dental hygiene students. Methods: The participate in this study were 231 dental hygiene department students. the survey was conducted from August 24 to September 30, 2018, using a structured questionnaire(1040460-A-2018-036). The collected data were compared and analyzed using a ANOVA and multiple regression. Results: The factors affecting the amount of stress were investigated. Role and activity factors stress in case of too much assignment, repeat simple and funtional work, ideal and value factors stress in case of utilized as a subsidiary work practice institution rather than clinical practice, lake of awareness that the training institution is a trainee. Conclusions: School institution and departments form organic relationships with industries. Uniform training guidance for each training institution does not help with diversity or creativity and problem-solving skills. It gives some autonomy to the training guidance of training institutions, also a clear standard for the contents of the training. we need a system that can provide and evaluate basic guidelines for what students can do in clinical practice.
Objectives: This study was conducted to investigate the factors that prevent dental patients from visiting the dental clinic. Methods: From June 22, 2020 to July 17, 2020, among patients 10 years or older who had visited the dental clinic, 314 individuals who agreed to the study were asked to fill out a self-administered questionnaire. The data were analyzed using the SPSS Statistics 22.0 program, and the significance level was set at 0.05. Results: The dental avoidance factors according to the general characteristics were high in women and housewives, and among the dental-related characteristics, the most common reason for visiting the dental clinic was experiencing pain. The factors influencing anxiety were fear, environment, stimulus, age, and exercise, and the factors influencing the fear were anxiety, stimulus, subjective oral health status, education, and exercise. The factors influencing the stimulus were environmental factors, fear, anxiety, and age, and the factors that influenced environmental factors were stimulus and anxiety. Conclusions: There is a need to develop measures and policies to overcome fear of dental procedures, such as developing a dental experience program and allowing patients to experience dental fear and anxiety in advance.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was related factors of oral health of scaling patients in dental hygiene department. Methods: The sample consisted of 218 at the scaling practice room of dental hygiene department in D College from March to November 2011. Chi-square test was used to analyze the relation the oral health behavior or oral hygiene and oral health, and losistic regression analysis was performed to analyze the factors asociated with oral health. Results: Scaling patients was 43.6% of the male and 56.4% of the women. Their age group was 79.8% of the twenty. Lately they was smoking status 69.7%. Brushing three times a day, 55.8% in male and female were 74.0% with significant differences(p=0.019). Kind of toothbrush "normal" the response was the highest, 45.3% male, 62.6% women were significantly higher in women(p=0.012). Toothbrushing educational experienced 33.7% men, women's educational experience rate of 52.8% was significantly higher(p=0.006), use of oral hygiene products education experienced 15.8% of the men and women 27.6% had significant difference(p=0.049). Scaling experience is not in the Dental plaque index the number of "bad" was significantly higher(p=0.035), toothbrushing educational experience is not in the Dental plaque index the number of "bad" and significantly higher(p=0.008) and Gingival bleeding index was significantly higher(p=0.033). Use of oral hygiene products educational experience if you do not have the number of the Dental plaque index "bad" were higher(p=0.011). Gingival bleeding index, affecting demographic variables were smoking(p=0.024). Dental plaque index the influence of experience with oral hygiene products factors(p=0.044) and gingival bleeding index was influenced Toothbrushing of educational experience(p=0.029). Conclusion: The results reported here confirm the factors associated with the oral health were education of oral hygiene products factors and Toothbrushing experience.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relevance of stress and stress amounts of physical environment factors and interpersonal factors of clinical practice institution of dental hygiene department students. It is in order to create condition to focus on clinical practice institution. Methods: The participants in this study were 231 dental hygiene department students engaged in clinical practice; the survey was conducted from September 1 to 30, 2018, using a structured questionnaire (1040460-A-2018-036). The questionnaire consisted of items on participants' general characteristics (4 items), characteristics of the clinical practice institution (9 items), stress from environmental factors (8 items), stress from interpersonal factors (7 items), and stress amounts of BEPSI (5 items). The collected data were compared and analyzed using a t-test, ANOVA, and multiple regression. Results: The physical environment and interpersonal factors of stress according in clinical practice institutions were statistically significant. In case of a number of dentists (p<0.05), subjective practice atmosphere (p<0.001), practice satisfaction (p<0.001), and kindly teach (p<0.001). The factors affecting the amount of stress on the characteristics of the clinical practice institution were that the dental clinic, the relationship with the dental hygienist is common, the number of dentists is 4 or more, and there is no resting room. Conclusions: The selected clinical practice institutions should provide dental hygiene department students with places to relax and a systematic hands-on manual.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate factors influencing care workers' intention of hand hygiene implementation in long-term care hospitals. Methods: A total of 180 care workers working at long-term care hospitals were recruited. Data collection was done from July 22 to September 7, 2018. Results: The significant TPB variables influencing the intention of hand hygiene implementation were perceived behavior control (β=.41, p<.001), normative belief (β=.28, p<.001) and attitude toward behavior (β=.15, p=.014). These factors explain 39% of care workers' intension of implementing hand hygiene in long-term care hospitals. Conclusion: In order to strengthen the commitment of hand hygiene, it is necessary to have a positive attitude toward hand hygiene by eliminating the obstacles to hand hygiene.
Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine the awareness-perception factors and oral health promotion behavior of dental hygiene and nonhealth-related students in an effort to find out factors affecting their oral health promotion behavior. Methods : The subjects in this study were students in the three-year-course dental hygiene and students in the two-year-course nonhealth-related department in G college located in the city of Gwangju. After a survey was conducted, the collected data were analyzed and compared. Results : 1. The dental hygiene students were statistically significantly ahead of the nonhealth-related students in perceived oral health knowledge(p<0.001), awareness of the importance of oral health(p<0.001), perceived oral health status(p<0.001) and oral health interest(p<0.001). 2. Concerning the characteristics of oral health promotion behavior, the dental hygiene students were statistically significantly better at toothbrushing(p<0.001) and the use of dental floss(p<0.001) than the nonhealth-related students. 3. Regarding factors affecting oral health promotion behavior, oral health knowledge and oral health interest were identified as the factors that impacted on oral health promotion behavior. Out of the two, oral health interest exercised a greater influence on that. Conclusions : It seems that oral health education could motivate students to be concerned about their oral health, to acquire knowledge on that and eventually to change their oral health behavior and attitude. As for college students, oral health education provides a final chance for them to check their oral health knowledge, attitude and oral health promotion behavior before they start to work as full-fledged adults, and institutional measures should be taken to offer more intensive official oral health education.
Background: This study was aimed at investigating the type of work of dental hygienists and identifying factors affecting the subjective health status according to hazardous risk factors in the working environment. Methods: From May 15 to 31, 2019, we surveyed 411 dental hygienists working at dental hospitals in the metropolitan area. SPSS 25.0 was used to perform the frequency analysis, t-test, one-way analysis of variance, Pearson's correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. Results: Regarding factors related to the degree of exposure to hazardous risk factors in the work environment and subjective health status, the more exposed the ergonomic (p<0.05) and psychological (p< 0.001)factors, the worse is the subjective health status. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that the working environment should be improved for dental hygienists such that they can perform their duties in a safe environment.
