참치뼈로부터 제조한 Hydroxyapatite 소결체의 랫드에 대한 급성피하독성시험 (Study on Acute Subcutaneous Toxicity of Hydroxyapatite Sinter Produced from Tuna Bone in Sprague-Dawley Rats)

  • This study was performed to evaluate the actue sbucutaneous toxicity of hydroxyapatite sinter produced from tuna bone in Sprague-Dawley(SD) rats. Hydroxyapatite sinter was administrated at dose levels of 5000, 2500, 1250, 625, 312.5 and 0 mg/kg. After single subcutaneous adiminstration to both sexes to both sexes SD rats, we observed rats for 14 days. Hydroxyapatite sinter did not induce any toxic signs inmortalities, clinical findings, body weights and gross findings of the rats. In view of result, it was impossible to estimate LD/ sub 50/ values in SD rats. In conclusion, these results suggest that hydroxyapatite sinter produced from tuna bone has no effect on acute subcutaneous toxicity in SD rats.

  • In the present study, a simple method was successfully used for hydroxyapatite coatings on Ti-6Al-4V substrates deposited by using a sol-gel derived precursor. Prior to hydroxyapatite coating the samples were micropolished (0.1 micron) and divided into three sets. The first set,were the micropolished samples kept as such. The second set were coated with titania sol and the third set was treated with 5M NaOH. After three repetitions of hydroxyapatite coating procedures on each set and heat treatment at 600 $^{\circ}\Delta C$, the formation of hydroxyapatite has been confirmed by XRD analyses and the substrate material was found to be oxidized with negligible amount of CaO in the coating. The SEM studies revealed surface morphology. Hydroxyapatite, calcined at 600$^{\circ}\Delta C$, displaying a porous structure arisen from heating of the bulk. But, it is very meaningful in trying to approach morale management plans with an object of dental technicians. It is necessary that dental technicians should make efforts to control themselves.

Birnessite와 Hydroxyapatite에 의한 납과 카드뮴 오염퇴적토의 독성저감 평가 (Toxicity Assessment of Pb or Cd Contaminated Sediments Amended with Birnessite or Hydroxyapatite)

  • The success of stabilization treatment in heavy metal contaminated sediment depends on the heavy metal bioavailability reduction through the sequestration of the heavy metals. This study was performed to assess the changes in the bioavailability of Pb or Cd in the Pb or Cd contaminated sediments by using birnessite and hydroxyapatite as stabilizing agents. The toxicity tests were carried out using a microorganism (Vibrio fischeri), an amphipod (Hyalella azteca) and an earthworm (Eisenia foetida). With Vibrio fischeri, the toxicities of both Pb and Cd were reduced by more than ten times in the presence of birnessite and hydroxyapatite compared to that of in the absence of birnessite and hydroxyapatite. The concentrations of Pb and Cd in the contaminated sediments were lethal to Hyalella azteca, however, in the presence of birnessite and hydroxyapatite more than 90%, on average, of Hyalella azteca survived. With Eisenia foetida, the bioaccumulated concentrations of both Pb and Cd were reduced by more than 75%, on average, lower with the addition of birnessite and hydroxyapatite to the contaminated sediments. These results show that the addition of birnessite and hydroxyapatite can reduce the bioavailability of Pb and Cd in contaminated sediments. In addition, the in situ and ex situ performance of birnessite and hydroxyapatite as stabilizing agents can be verified using the toxicity tests with Hyalella azteca and Eisenia foetida, respectively.

  • The hydroxyapatite with different amounts of strontium was synthesized with wet chemical technique. The structural, morphological and chemical characterizations for the prepared hydroxyapatite with various strontium amounts were carried out with XRD, SEM, EDS, and FT-IR. Strontium is quantitatively incorporated into hydroxyapatite where its substitution for calcium provokes a well distribution in the EDS mapping and a linear shift of the infrared absorption bands of the hydroxyl and phosphate groups, coherent with the greater ionic radius of strontium.

  • In order to evaluate the safety of hydroxyapatite sinter produced from tuna bone in Syrian hamsters, oral mucous membrane irritation test was carried out. Oral mucous membrane irritation test was infected in Syrian hamsters as dose of 5 g/kg BW with hydroxyapatite sinder under pentobarbital sodium anesthesia. Each animal`s left cheek pouch was everted, and the samples were loosely placed at the bottom of the pouch with a double-suture technique for 14 days. Hamsters of control group were treated without inserting the hydroxylapatite sinter. Any abnormal clinical signs in both cheek pouches of control and treatment group were not observed for 14 days. There were no significant differences in body weight changes between hamsters of control and treatment group. Therefore, it suggest that hydroxyapatite sinter produced from tuna bone has no particular changes of oral mucous membrane irritation in Syrian hamsters.

  • The effects of starting composition, sintering temperature and porosity on the mechanical properties of hydroxyapatite ceramics were investigated. The hydroxyapatite powder were prepared by precipitation method using Ca(NO3)2.4H2O and (NH4)2.HPO4. The obtained powders were Ca-deficient hydroxyapatites and as the Ca/P mole ration in the initial solution was increased, the particle size of the precipitates was decreased, and the decomposition of hydroxyapatite to $\beta$-TCP was controlled. The porosity, as well as Ca/P mole ratio in starting composition and sintering temperature, plays major role in the mechanical properties of dense hydroxyapatite ceramics.

유산칼슘이 합성 수산화인회석의 탈회에 미치는 영향 (EFFECT OF CALCIUM LACTATE ON DEMINERALIZATION OF SYNTHETIC HYDROXYAPATITE)

  • Many kinds of soluble calcium salts such as calcium lactate are known to reduce the enamel demineralization. In this study, calcium lactate was tested for its effect on the demineralization process of hydroxyapatite. Synthetic hydroxyapatites were used as a standardized material instead of human enamel which is rarely heterogenous. And, for the purpose of hydroxyapatite demineralization, lactic acid was used. By comparing the weight of hydroxyapatite pre-demineralization and post-demineralization, it was possible to examine the effect of calcium lactate on demineralization. The weight of demineralized hydroxyapatite was reduced by about 46% and 59% with 20mM and 40mM calcium lactate, respectively. In conclusion, low concentrations of calcium lactate showed an inhibitory effect on the demineralization of synthetic hydroxyapatite.

굴패각과 인산으로부터 수산화아파타이트 분말 합성에 관한 연구 (A Study on The Synthesis of Hydroxyapatite Powders Using Oyster Shells and H3PO4)

  • Hydroxyapatite powders were prepared after heating at $1250^{\circ}C$ by the direct reaction using oyster shells and $H_3$$PO_4$. Properties of hydroxyapatite powders were investigated as XRF, XRD, DTA, FT-IR, SEM. Only hydroxyapatite was observed in XRD powders which was heated at $1250^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours and there was no remained CaO in that sample. And the results of FT-IR of sample was confirmed hydroxyapatite. Sample was agglomerated together, but needle shape morphology was observed in powders heated at $1250^{\circ}C$.

하이드록시아파타이트 필터의 항균성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Antibacteria of Hydroxyapatite Filter)

  • A hydroxyapatite air filter was made with hydroxyapatite powder, water and chitosan solution. The structures of the sintered HAp samples were determined by MP-XRD. Hydroxyapatite has antibacteria properties against Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Escherichia coli. The bacteria removal rate was 99.9%. In the case of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Colon bacterium and Listeria monocytogenes, the hydroxyapatite air filters had a clear zone which confirmed antibacteria properties. Using the microscopy, we observed that the HAp powder absorbed E. coli bacteria.
