Study for the Energy Efficiency of Hydraulic System of Turnover-Type Sluice Gate (전도 수문용 유압장치의 에너지 효율에 관한 연구)

  • The turnover-type sluice gate is typically actuated by the hydrauic system. The hydraulic system may be a open circuit type or a closed circuit type. The open circuit type hydraulic system is composed of a uni-directional pump, a directional control valve, pilot operated check valves, flow control valves, single-rod cylinders. The closed circuit type hydraulic system is composed of a bi-directional pump, pilot operated check valves, check valves, a counter balance valve, single-rod cylinders. The energy efficiencies of two hydraulic systems for the turnover-type sluice gate are compared here.

Synchronization Control of Two Hydraulic Cylinders Using Feedback Linearization Compensator and Disturbance Observer (피드백 선형화 보상기와 외란 관측기를 이용한 2개 유압 실린더의 동기 제어)

  • In the study, a control strategy using a feedback linearization compensator and a disturbance observer was suggested and applied to the synchronization control of two hydraulic cylinders. The hydraulic system consists of a proportional directional control valve with overlap characteristic near the neutral position, a conventional hydraulic cylinder and an external load. The control performances of the system were verified through numerical simulations. From the simulations, it was ascertained that excellent control performances were obtained with the suggested control strategy.

  • Performance and efficiency of hybrid (hydraulic-mechanical) pick-up device of deep sea manganese nodules collector are very sensitive to altitude and altitude of pick-up head relative to undulating seafloor. For this reason, motion control of pick-up head relative to the changing deep sea topography and other disturbances is of particular importance in design of pick-up device. The concept of design axiom is applied to a pick-up device of hybrid type. Kinematic analysis conducted in absolute Cartesian coordinates gives position, velocity, and acceleration of the hydraulic cylinders which enable the pick-up head to keep the preset optimal distance from seafloor. Inverse dynamic analysis provides the driving forces of hydraulic cylinders and the reaction forces at each joint. Design sensitivity analysis is performed in order to investigate the effects of possible design variables on the change of the maximum strokes of hydraulic cylinders. The direct differentiation method is used to obtain the design sensitivity coefficients.

  • In this paper, a theoretical analysis is carried out to study the lubrication characteristics of sealless piston for hydraulic cylinders. The analytical pressure distributions are obtained solving one-dimensional Reynolds equation with partially tapered moving piston. Nearly analytical expressions for lateral forces acting on the piston and leakage flow rate through the clearance are also presented. Using the analytical expressions, the influence of design parameters on lubrication characteristics can be easily evaluated without numerical analysis. Composite-shaped piston which minimizes the leakage flow rate is the optimum in sealless piston for hydraulic cylinder.

  • A main technology of opening and closing a sluice gate is accurate synchronous and position control for the two cylinders when they are moving with the sluice gate together over 10[m]. Since the supply flow and supply pressure of cylinders are not constant and a nonlinear friction force of the piston in cylinders exists, a difference will be made between the displacement of two cylinders. This difference causes the sluice gate to deform and abrade, and even it may be out of order. In order to solve this problem we design two kinds of fuzzy PI controllers. The former is for a position control of two cylinders, the latter is for their synchronous control. We show some simulation results compare the performance of fuzzy PI controller to the conventional PID controller.

  • Performance and efficiency of deep seabed collector is a primary factor for feasibility of commercial deep ocean mining. The efficiency of manganese nodules collector depends on vehicle mobility relative to undulating seafloor and is attributed pickup head to keep altitude and elevation of it against seafloor.   • Vortex-induced vibration of three circular cylinders (each of diameter D) in an equilateral triangular arrangement is investigated using the immersed boundary method. The cylinders, with one placed upstream and the other two side-by-side downstream, are free to vibrate in the cross-flow direction. The cylinder center-to-center spacing L is adopted as L/D = 2.0. Other parameters include the Reynolds number Re = 100, mass ratio $m^*=2.0$, reduced velocity $U_r=2{\sim}15$ and damping ratio ${\zeta}=0$. Cylinder vibration responses are dependent on $U_r$ and classified into five regimes, i.e. Regime I ($U_r{\leq}3.2$), Regime II ($3.2<U_r{\leq}5.0$), Regime III ($5.0<U_r{\leq}6.4$), Regime IV ($6.4<U_r{\leq}9.2$) and Regime V ($U_r>9.2$). Different facets of vibration amplitude, hydrodynamic forces, wake patterns and displacement spectra are extracted and presented in detail for each regime.

  • In general a main technology of control a sluice gate is accurate synchronous position control for the two cylinders when they are moving with the sluice gate together over 10[m]. Because the nonlinear friction and the unconstant supply flow. Cylinders' displacement will be different. In this case the sluice gate may be deformed and abraded, and even the sluice gate may unable to work. In order to design the controller for this system, we designed two kinds of Fuzzy PI controllers. Fuzzy PI position controller and Fuzzy PI synchronous controller have been designed. We show some simulation results for its availability.

Analysis of the Stresses for Hydraulic Actuator Cylinders using Boundary Element Method (경계요소법을 이용한 유압 엑츄에이터 실린더의 응력해석)

  • The stress distributions of hydranlic actuator cylinder tube acting in uniform inner pressure were analysed by the boundary element method(BEM). STKM13C tube was utilized for machine structural purposes model, its inner radius was 100 mm and outer radius was 140 mm. Axial length was semi-infinite and the isoparametric element of BEM was used. Radial and tangential stresses are maximum(-20.3 MPa and 52 MPa) at the inner radius and the minimum at the outer radius of the hydraulic actuator cylinders for an industrial systems. Stress diminution ratio was about 0.6 MPa/mm. And then coincidence between the simulation techniques as exact results(Lame' equation) and finite element method(FEM) is found to be fairly good, showing that the proposed analysis by BEM is reliable.

  • This paper presents dynamic analysis of a hydraulic excavator based on experimental data. A three dimensional multibody model of a hydraulic excavator is modeled for the computer simulation. The hydraulic pressures acting on the cylinders are measured from experiments, and the forces exerting on the cylinders are calculated from the measured pressures. Using these forces, the dynamic analysis of the excavator is carried out to regenerate the motion in the computer simulation. A proper operation scheme is assumed to match the computational result and the experiment. The DADS program is used for the dynamic analysis.
