연료전지 축전지 복합 동력원의 구동 특성 (Analysis of the FuelCell Battery Hybrid Power System)

  • FuelCell/Battery hybrid power systems were studied to develop high efficient zero-emission fuel cell electric vehicles. Fuel cells were used as an auxiliary energy source and batteries were used as a transient power source. The fuel cell system is used to supply the average power demand. Dynamic response of the hybrid systems was simulated using PSPICE program and also tested experimentally. The results can be used to design the interface module and to determine the power requirement between the fuel cell unit and the battery pack.

  • Recently, hybrid generation systems combine multiple energy sources or storage components to optimize the characteristics of the individual energy sources. In this paper, a battery integrated PV power optimizer for PV-battery hybrid power generation system is proposed. PV system using proposed topology can easily increase battery capacity and remove high power bidirectional converter to control bulky battery bank.

Design of a Cost-Effective Hybrid-Type PBEx Providing a High Power Budget in an Asymmetric 10G-EPON

  • This paper proposes a cost-effective hybrid-type power budget extender (PBEx) that can provide a high power budget of over 45 dB in an asymmetric 10-Gb/s Ethernet passive optical network (10/1G-EPON). The hybrid-type 10/1G-EPON PBEx comprises a central office terminal (COT) and remote terminal (RT) module supporting four channels and uses a coarse wavelength division multiplexing (CWDM) technology between the COT and RT for a reduction of fiber cost and efficient access network design. The proposed 10/1G-EPON PBEx can provide over a 40-km reach and 128-way split per CWDM wavelength with no modification of a legacy 10/1G-EPON system and can satisfy the error-free service in $10^{10}$ packet transmission.

  • GaAs pHEMT와 도파관-마이크로스트립 변환구조를 이용하여 고출력, 고이득 특성을 갖는 Ka-band 하이브리드 전력증폭기 모듈을 개발하였다. 본 전력증폭기는 10 mil 두께의 duroid 기판을 이용한 마이크로스트립 라인과 도파관 마이크로스트립 변환구조로 이루어져 있다. 제작된 도파관-마이크로스트립 변환구조는 32 40 GHz 대역까지 약 1 dB의 삽입손실(back to back)을 보인다. 전력증폭기 모듈의 측정 결과, 36.1 - 37.1 GHz에서 1W 이상의 출력 전력, 23dB 이상의 전력 이득을 보이며 36.5GHz에서 31dBm의 출력전력, 24dB의 전력 이득, 15%의 PAE을 나타내었다.

  • Modularized charge equalization converter for HEV lithium-ion battery cells is proposed in this paper, in which intra-module and inter-module charge equalization can be achieved at the same time. For intra-module charge equalization, the conventional flyback DC/DC converters of low power and small size are employed, in which all of the primary sides are coupled in parallel for selective charge of the specific under charged cell within the module. For inter-module charge equalization, the flyback DC/DC converters are also added, in which all the secondary windings are electrically linked in parallel for automatic charge balancing among the modules. An engineering sample of forty cells hiring the proposed cell balancing scheme is implemented and its experimental result shows that the proposed modularized charge equalization circuit has good cell balancing performance.

  • A new progressive advanced approach (Loop thermosyphon Thermoelectric Power generation System) is suggested to optimize heat recovery ability from vehicle exhaust gas. As an initial look at device feasibility, the present new TE system adopted the loop thermosyphon as a cooling heat exchanger. The TE system with loop thermosyphon was investigated in terms of working fluids, instability of system, amount of working fluid, and so on. Basically, the present experimental works have been focused on finding the optimum working condition of the system to improve thermoelectric power output and to obtain stable power generation to operate hybrid vehicles. The present experimental results with the loop thermosyphon TE module shows possibilities as an improved TE system for future thermoelectric hybrid vehicles.

  • This paper proposes photovoltaic thermal hybrid module to get the electrical and Thermal performance of building integrated photovoltaic(BIPV) system. BIPV system is decreased the system efficiency because output of PV is decreased by the thermal rising on generating. In order to improve the efficiency of BIPV module, water cooling system is applied and generated thermal is used the warm water system. Water cooling system uses the flux control algorithm considering water temperature and power loss. Electrical and thermal performance of proposed photovoltaic thermal hybrid module is confirmed through the actual experiment and herby proved the valid of this paper.

Digital State Feedback Current Control using the Pole Placement Technique

  • A digital state feedback control method for the current mode control of DC-DC converters is proposed in this paper. This approach can precisely achieve interleaved current sharing among the converter modules. As the controller design and system analysis are performed in the time domain, the proposed method can easily satisfy the required converter specification by using the pole placement technique. The digital state feedback controller in the continuous and discrete time domain is derived for the robust tracking control. For the verification of the proposed control scheme, a parallel module bi-directional converter in a prototype 42V/14V hybrid automotive power system, which is a design example in the continuous time domain, and a parallel module buck converter, which is a design example in the discrete time domain, are implemented using a TMS320F2812 digital signal processor (DSP).

  • To improve the cycle-life and efficiency of an energy storage system for HEV, a dynamic control system consisted of a switch between a battery and an ultracapacitor module is proposed, which is appropriate for mild hybrid vehicle with 42V power net. The switch can be controlled based on the status of the battery and the ultracapacitor module, and a control algorithm that could largely decrease the number of high charging current peak is also implemented. Therefore the cycle life of the battery can be improved such that it is suitable for a mild hybrid vehicle with frequent engine start-stop and regenerative-braking. Also, by maximizing the use of the ultracapacitor, the system efficiency during high current charging and discharging operation is improved. Finally, this system has the effects that improves the efficiency of energy storage system and reduces the fuel consumption of a vehicle. To verify the validity of the proposed system, this paper presented cycles test results of different energy storage systems: a simple VRLA battery, hybrid energy Pack (HEP, a VRLA battery in Parallel with Ultracapacitor) and a HEP with a switch that controlled by energy management system (EMS). From the experimental result, it was proved the effectiveness of the algorithm.
