CMOS-Memristor Hybrid 4-bit Multiplier Circuit for Energy-Efficient Computing

  • In this paper, we propose a CMOS-memristor hybrid circuit that can perform 4-bit multiplication for future energy-efficient computing in nano-scale digital systems. The proposed CMOS-memristor hybrid circuit is based on the parallel architecture with AND and OR planes. This parallel architecture can be very useful in improving the power-delay product of the proposed circuit compared to the conventional CMOS array multiplier. Particularly, from the SPECTRE simulation of the proposed hybrid circuit with 0.13-mm CMOS devices and memristors, this proposed multiplier is estimated to have better power-delay product by 48% compared to the conventional CMOS array multiplier. In addition to this improvement in energy efficiency, this 4-bit multiplier circuit can occupy smaller area than the conventional array multiplier, because each cross-point memristor can be made only as small as $4F^2$.

Modeling and Energy Management Strategy in Energetic Macroscopic Representation for a Fuel Cell Hybrid Electric Vehicle

  • Fuel cell hybrid electric vehicle is an attractive solution to reduce pollutants, such as noise and carbon dioxide emission. This study presents an approach for energy management and control algorithm based on energetic macroscopic representation for a fuel cell hybrid electric vehicle that is powered by proton exchange membrane fuel cell, battery and supercapacitor. First, the detailed model of the fuel cell hybrid electric vehicle, including fuel cell, battery, supercapacitor, DC-DC converters and powertrain system, are built on the energetic macroscopic representation. Next, the power management strategy was applied to manage the energy among the three power sources. Moreover, the control scheme that was based on back-stepping sliding mode control and inversed-model control techniques were deduced. Simulation tests that used a worldwide harmonized light vehicle test procedure standard driving cycle showed the effectiveness of the proposed control method.

  • Recently, the global automobile market is rapidly changing from internal combustion engine vehicles to eco-friendly vehicles including electric vehicles. Among eco-friendly vehicles, LPG vehicles are low in fine dust and are suggested as a realistic way to replace diesel vehicles. In addition, it is more economical than gasoline in its class, showing a cost-saving effect. In Korea, the business of converting gasoline into LPG is active. Research is being conducted to apply this to hybrid vehicles. In this study, the difference in energy consumption efficiency was analyzed when LPG fuel was applied by selecting a 2-liter GDI hybrid electric vehicle. The operation of the hybrid system according to various driving characteristics was confirmed by selecting the WLTC mode. As a result, it was confirmed that the BSFC was about 5% lower than that of gasoline fuel when using LPG fuel. This is due to the active operation of the motor while driving. Optimization is required as battery consumption increases from an energy perspective.

환원제염조건에서 가압경수로 구조재료의 틈부식 특성 (Crevice Corrosion Properties of PWR Structure Materials Under Reductive Decontamination Conditions)

  • 가압경수로의 일차계통 제염을 위해 개발된 HYBRID 제염제의 재료부식 특성을 틈부식 시험방법을 사용하여 수행하였다. 기존 제염제의 부식특성과 비교하기 위하여 상용 제염제인 OA, CITROX 제염제의 부식특성도 함께 평가하였다. 시험재료는 가압경수로의 일차계통의 주 재료인 Alloy 600과 304 SS을 대상으로 시험하였다. 틈부식 시험은 가혹조건의 부식시험으로써 내식성이 강한 원전 구조재료의 건전성을 짧은 시간에 잘 확인할 수 있었다. 시험결과 OA와 CITROX 제염제에서는 crevice 시편 표면에 pitting과 IGA가 나타났으나 HYBRID 제염제에서는 국부부식이 전혀 발생되지 않았다. 무게감소 측정결과 HYBRID 제염조건에서는 $1.3{\times}10^{-3}{\mu}m/h$ 이하의 매우 낮은 부식속도를 나타내었다. 반면에, OA 제염제의 경우 Alloy 600은 $4.0{\times}10^{-2}{\mu}m/h$ 로 비교적 균일한 부식율을 나타내었으나, 304 SS의 경우 pH = 2.0 이하에서 급격한 가속부식을 나타내었다. HYBRID 제염제의 경우 일반부식에서뿐만 아니라 crevice 부식조건에서도 거의 부식이 일어나지 않아 PWR 계통제염 시 산화막 용해 후 제염제가 계통재료에 노출되어도 재료의 건전성이 입증되었다.

LNG-FPSO용 막-흡수 하이브리드 공정 전산모사 (Simulation of Membrane-absorption Hybrid Process for LNG-FPSO)

  • LNG-FPSO 산성가스 제거 공정에서 막-흡수 하이브리드 시스템 적용을 위한 설계를 수행하였다. 상용 공정 모사기인 Promax version 4.0을 이용하여 아민 흡수 공정과 하이브리드 공정의 산성가스 제거 성능을 비교하였다. 전사 모사 결과를 통해 하이브리드 공정은 아민 용매 순환량, 에너지 소모량, 장치 사이즈가 아민 흡수 공정에 비하여 작아지는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 따라서, 컴팩트한 장치 사이즈와 에너지 절감 공정인 하이브리드 공정은 LNG-FPSO 천연가스 전처리 공정에 적용하기에 적합한 방안임을 확인하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 독립된 풍력 복합발전 시스템을 대상으로 시스템의 모델링과 다양한 환경에서 체계적으로 동작시키기 위한 멀티에이전트 기반의 제어방법을 제안한다. 멀티에이전트 제어는 풍력발전기, 디젤발전기, 배터리, 부하로 구성되는 새로운 형식의 하이브리드 제어방법이고, 풍속과 배터리의 충전상태에 따라 풍력 복합발전 시스템의 운전은 14개의 모드로 나누어 수행된다. 시뮬레이션 성능평가를 통해 제안된 알고리즘이 독립된 풍력 복합발전 시스템에서 다양한 풍속변화가 존재하는 경우에도 효율적으로 운전될 수 있음을 보여준다.

달 착륙선 하이브리드 충격 흡수장치의 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on Development of the Hybrid Shock Absorber for Lunar Lander)

  • The shock absorber is very important in various mechanical field. Without the shock absorber, the structure might be broken. For lunar lander, honeycomb shock absorber to absorber the shock by using plastic deformation of honeycomb has been used. It is cheap and simple to use but impossible using again without changing the honeycomb. The oleo-pneumatic type shock absorber is not able to use in the cosmos because it is vacuum and its temperature. This study suggests the hybrid shock absorber combined spring-ratchet mechanical shock absorber and eddy current electromagnetic damper. The ratchet restricts rebound of lunar lander and the spring converts the impact energy to the potential energy of the spring. The eddy current damper dissipates the impact energy by eddy current force without contact between the parts. This hybrid shock absorber is reusable while the honeycomb shock absorber isn't. The impact absorbing test of the hybrid shock absorber was carried out. This paper shows that the compared results the hybrid shock absorber with ratchet and without ratchet and evaluates the possibility of using for lunar lander.

국내 보급 예정 하이브리드 자동차의 유형별 편익 고찰 (A Study on the Feasibility of the Three Prospective Types of HEV)

  • More people have become interested in hybrid vehicles - which have been heralded as environmentally friendly automobiles - recently as the opening of domestic hybrid vehicle market draws near. Since gasoline, diesel and LPG hybrid vehicles will be produced, a need exists to conduct economic feasibility study of each vehicle type. This research analyzed projected benefits of these hybrid vehicles based on the 1600cc model. There are two categories of benefits: 1) reduced fuel costs for the owners of the vehicles; and 2) reduced environmental pollution cost. We conducted a sensitivity analysis and estimated the domestic consumer fuel costs based on the international oil prices of 100USD, 150USD, and 200USD per barrel. The analysis showed savings of 2 to 4 million Won in fuel cost and 1 to 2 million Won in environmental pollution cost; therefore, the hybrid vehicles are not economically feasible if they are between 3 to 5 million Won more expensive than the conventional internal combustion engine vehicles.

강재 레일과 CFRP 기둥으로 이루어진 방호울타리의 최적화 설계 (Design Optimization of Safety Barrier Consisting of Steel Rail and CFRP Post)

  • In this study a hybrid safety barrier system consisting of steel rail and carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) post is considered. W hile CFRP post is selected for impact energy reflection due to its high strength, steel rail is selected for impact energy absorption due to its high ductility. A numerical model considering the elastoplastic behavior of steel is formulated to simulate the dynamic responses of the hybrid system subject to an impact load. A hybrid roadside guard rail system of steel rail and CFRP post is proposed and analyzed with a case study. The numerical model for the hybrid roadside guard rail system is used to find optimized design of the proposed hybrid system.

에너지 절감형 전기 유류 겸용 온풍기 개발 (Development of Electrical and Oil Heater for Energy Saving)

  • This study was carried out to evaluate the structural stability of hybrid type fan heater. The evaluation of structural safety of hybrid fan heater was conducted by using Ansys Workbench and CFX-11 under the design condition. The hybrid fan heater was operated by heat transfer for heat source supplied from electric heater and combustion gas. According to result of structural analysis, the maximum equivalent stress of hybrid fan heater was 150MPa when the temperature of heat transfer fluids was $150^{\circ}C$. It was found that the hybrid fan was structurally safe because the value of maximum equivalent stress was smaller than that of yield stress of the material.
