This study was conducted to monitor the antibiotics resistance of human-harmful bacteria isolated in the agricultural environment for hot peppers (Capsicum annuum) and tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum). As a result, we isolated 120 bacterial species (34 on fruits, 48 in soil, 21 in water, and 17 in manure), identified them with the 16S rRNA sequence, analyzed minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) for 26 antibiotics using Sensititre ARIS Hi-Q system and then evaluated whether each bacterial genus acquired resistance for the tested antibiotics or not, according to the CLSI criteria. From difference in MIC between eco-friendly (EFM) and practical (PFM) cultivation farms, Klebsiella spp. isolated from EFM was resistant to ampicillin (AMP) and nalidixic acid (NAL), and that isolated from PFM was resistant to streptomycin (STR) and tetracycline (TET). Enterobacter spp. isolated from EFM was resistant to AMP and azithromycin (AZI), and that isolated from PFM was resistant to AMP, AZI, and STR. Meanwhile, Pseudomonas spp. isolated from EFM and PFM were all resistant to AMP, AZI, cefotaxime (FOT), cefoxitin (FOX), ceftriaxone (AXO), CHL, NAL, and STR. Staphylococcus spp. isolated from EFM and PFM were resistant to gentamycin (GEN), STR, and kanamycin (KAN), and in particular, that from EFM showed resistance for erythromycin (ERY). In conclusion, our study suggested that EFM lead STR antibiotics resistance for human-harmful bacteria to decrease, because only the bacteria isolated from hot pepper and tomato crop with PFM have showed resistance against STR antibiotics, regardless of bacterial genus.
Although human-sized bipedal humanoid robots have been developed as the ideal form of human-friendly robots, studies of humanoid robots from the user perspective and of actual interaction between humanoid robots and the public in daily environments are few. This paper presents a long-term public demonstration that encouraged interaction between a humanoid robot and unspecified individuals. We have collected a significant amount of subjective evaluation data from the public by performing a storytelling demonstration that enhanced people's empathy towards the robot. The evaluation model consists of the robot's human friendliness, which involves its impression on humans, interaction with humans, and imitation of human motions and the robot's human appearance which involves gender, age, height, and body type. This study shows that there is no significant difference in human-friendliness between gender groups (male and female), while there is a significant difference between age groups (children and adults). In human appearance, it appears that there is no significant difference between either gender groups or age groups, except for the case of the robot's height.

In software system development, an application interface is the main communication platform between human developers and applications. Interaction in any software application requires human's mental and physical activities. Although software systems have increased drastically in diverse sectors and many forms to quench human's needs and satisfactions, human always concern about the ease in usability of the software application so that it can be easily understood and navigated. Since many software developers still focus on the quantity of contents instead of the quality of the interface from the user's point of view, it is important to address human factors need in the early stage of the design and to continue addressing them during the entire stages of the software design for the persistent support of usability. In this paper, we propose the Modified Prototype Model (MPM), which helps the software designers and developers to design user-friendly software systems with easy-to-navigate interfaces by uncovering human factors in a convenient way. Moreover, we propose methods that assist to identify more human factors regarding software design. In this paper, we also study the implications of the proposed model and the proposed methods.
In the era of ubiquitous computing, human-friendly man-machine interface is getting more attention due to its possibility to offer convenient services. For this, in this paper, we introduce a 'Half-Mirror Interface System (HMIS)' as a novel type of human-friendly man-machine interfaces. Basically, HMIS consists of half-mirror, USB-Webcam, microphone, 2ch-speaker, and high-speed processing unit. In our HMIS, two principal operation modes are selected by the existence of the user in front of it. The first one, 'mirror-mode', is activated when the user's face is detected via USB-Webcam. In this mode, HMIS provides three basic functions such as 1) make-up assistance by magnifying an interested facial component and TTS (Text-To-Speech) guide for appropriate make-up, 2) Daily weather information provider via WWW service, 3) Health monitoring/diagnosis service using Chinese medicine knowledge. The second one, 'display-mode' is designed to show decorative pictures, family photos, art paintings and so on. This mode is activated when the user's face is not detected for a time being. In display-mode, we also added a 'healing-window' function and 'healing-music player' function for user's psychological comfort and/or relaxation. All these functions are accessible by commercially available voice synthesis/recognition package.
The purpose of the study is to investigate how much customers' environmental consciousness and perception of environmental marketing in the fast food company affect their purchasing intention. Out of 420 questionnaires, 394 were analyzed by SPSS/WIN12.0 for the study. The results are as follows: the more environmental consciousness customers have, the more consumers understand environmental efforts of fast food companies. Second, consumers agree that fast food companies have a responsibility for environmental problems. Third, significant factors related to environmentally friendly marketing are found out. In other words, social psychological factors are more useful than demographic factors drawn from previous studies. Therefore, the empirical study would provide evidence for customers being interested in environmental marketing and valuable data for marketers who will approach environmentally friendly fast food market in the future.
Baker's yeast(Saccharomyces cerevisiae) was used as a biocatalyst for eco-friendly indigo dyeing and the reducing power of yeast according to the alkaline solution type was compared. NaOH solution, lye, and buffer solution were used as alkaline solutions. The reducing power(K/S value, oxidation/reduction potential(ORP), pH) was monitored according to the elapsed time including the initiation of reduction, peak reduction, and the end of reduction. In all alkaline solutions, it was confirmed that yeast can be used reducing agent in indigo reduction dyeing. The pH stability and reducing power of buffer solution was better than that of NaOH alone. Although, pH and ORP stability of the reduction bath in lye were better than that of buffer solution, K/S value in buffer solution was higher compared to lye. The reducing power was different depending on the starting pH of the dye bath, and it was better when starting at pH 10.70 than at pH 11.30. Fastnesses to washing, rubbing, and light were relatively good with above rating 4. There was no significant difference in colorfastness depending on the type of alkaline solutions.
The purpose of this study was to make a close inquiry into the types and characteristics of social responsibility of fashion brands, perceived by consumers in the condition that a systematic frame of social responsibility of fashion brand didn't exist. To achieve the purpose, the study carried out literary survey and FGI (Focus Group Interview) which were qualitative research methods. The study carried out interviews with 9 experts majoring in fashion and 4 staff members in charge of fashion companies. The results of the study were as follows: (1). There were five types of social responsibility activities of fashion brands: fund raising activities, scholarship/cultural volunteer activities, consumer protection activities, recycling/environment-friendly activities, and ethical responsibility activities. (2). Out of the social responsibility of fashion brand, recycling/environment-friendly activities was valued above everything else. It implicates that we should pursue economic profits and sustainability at once by recognizing the importance of environmental management and improving enterprise management. As stated above, it is thought that fashion brand companies should fulfill their social responsibility strategically for long-term profits of fashion brand by grasping and improving the present conditions of social responsibility of fashion brand.
The emotional interface is essential technology for the robot to provide the proper service to the user. In this research, we developed emotional components for the service robot such as a neural network based facial expression recognizer, emotion expression technologies based on 3D graphical face expression and joints movements, considering a user's reaction, behavior selection technology for emotion expression. We used our humanoid robots, AMI and AMIET as the test-beds of our emotional interface. We researched on the emotional interaction between a service robot and a user by integrating the developed technologies. Emotional interface technology for the service robot, enhance the performance of friendly interaction to the service robot, to increase the diversity of the service and the value-added of the robot for human. and it elevates the market growth and also contribute to the popularization of the robot. With the recent advances in radiological science, there was radiographic techniques development and several researches to diagnosing dysphagia. We proposed the new Imaging technology based on Near Infrared radiation (NIR) for video fluoroscopic swallowing study (VFSS). To reduce the risk of the VFSS examination for swallowing rehabilitation, multi-NIR camera system comprised. Based on the multi-NIR camera imaging system, Computational simulation was conducted to identify the potential of the multi-NIR camera imaging system as a clinical tool (screening system). As a result of the simulation applied in this study, the proposed system has a potential to be a clinical solution although there is a few of limitations. we believe that it will be a good tool to support the VFSS as a screening technology in clinical fields.
