Development of High Load/Large Displacement Actuator for Micro-press (마이크로 프레스용 고하중/대변위 액츄에이터 개발)

  • In this paper, a new type of inchworm motion actuator is developed in fabrication of actuators for micro-press machine. This is consisted of three piezoelectric actuators, one is for moving the tool guide and the other are for clamping the guide. The inchworm motor provides both high load and large displacement in small size actuator. PZT has compressive strength and often fails under tensile stress and pulling. Thus, in order to prevent failure, we have designed pre-load housing and accomplished FEM analysis. The pre-load housing was used for determining the optimal design condition by comparing the von-mises stresses with the change of hinge stiffness. Also, in order to predict the performance of the motor under certain conditions, the system model was simulated using MATLAB. This is open loop control actuator and driven by the period of input voltage.

  • This study selected an outdoor RCD'S and verified behavior of change in the housing with time. Weathering tests were carried out as outdoor exposure test (90 degrees, 37 degrees) and laboratory test (xenon lamp), and the results were evaluated based on color difference, gloss, contact angle, and optical microscope. This study can provide basic data for standardization of development and performance evaluation on RCD'S housing products.

  • The case study for this research is a middle school music room located in Iksan City, Korea. Although the room is used for teaching music, indiscreet sound-absorbing materials were applied within the space. Accordingly, a number of difficulties have been experienced when using the room. During a music lesson, the sound-volume is inadequate for music appreciation, while the music performance has an arid sound due to an insufficient echo. In order to control the obstructive factors resulting from a short Reverberation Time, the acoustic factor is optimized in this study by using an Acoustic Simulation, following an arrangement of Acoustic Design. A Psycho-acoustics Experiment was conducted using the Auralizational Technique, whereby the Virtual Acoustic Field can be experienced at the design stage.

A Study on the Sri Autobindo Center Guest House Design (Sri Autobindo Center Guest House 디자인에 관한 연구)

  • The Sri Autobindo Learning Center(SALC) is sponsoring the development of a passive solar village in Creston, Colorado, Situated near the Sangre de Cristo mountains, Savitri Village will be one of several religious communities in the area. This village will incorporate 12 permanent residences and teaching and guest facilities for fifty to one hundred people. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the passive solar elements and performance of guest house at the Sri Autobindo Learning Center(SALC). To do this evaluation, the following tasks needed to be addressed. 1. the guest house design 2. the location of weather data 3. The determination of the building heating load As part of the evaluation process, guest house design will be modified and the building load and solar saving recalculated. This process will be completed until the building performance is deemed satisfactory. The conclusion is as follows; The high solar savings fraction predicted by SUNCODE should taken as an indication that further design changes would probably not be cost effective. But adding removal overhangs or other low costs measures to increase comfort in the summer appear to be appropriate.

A Study on the Performance and the Space Use of Family Events (中都市 居住者의 家庭行事에 대한 硏究-거행 여부, 장소와 공간을 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the performance level of family events, the events places where the events occur. The subjects of 169 households were selected in Jinju city and data were gathered through a questionnaire method. The data were analyzed by the SPSS package program. The major findings are as follows; 1) Most of the families perform the majority of events except lpchun (the first day of spring), the vernal Equinox Day, the Autumnal Equinox Day, the Vega festival Day, Chilsuk, and the Respect-for-the-Aged Day. 2) Birthday parties score to the highest of all family events. 3) In general, the Lunar New Year's Day, the Full Moon Harvest Day, the ancestor worship ceremony, the 15th of January (in lunar calendar), the feast of a hundred day-old baby among lifetime ceremonies, family members'birthdays, housewarming parties among the other general celebrations, and Parents Day among memorial days are held in their homes. 4) The socialized celebration of the following family events is increasing: the first birthday party, banquets for parents'60th birthday, Christmas, and wedding anniversaries.

Development of the Limit Switch Box for a Ship and Its Performance Evaluation against Salt Water

  • A limit switch box is used for an indicator of a valve actuator. This device indicates an opening and closing of a valve or a throttle in the valve actuator. In a ship, equipments require safety and robustness because of a rough environment and a specific condition during a voyage. However, the limit switch box has been used in an indoor environment generally. This study developed a new limit switch box which can be used at an outdoor environment. This study designed the new limit switch box. The housing of the limit switch box was made by an aluminum die cast method with surface painting after anodizing or chromate coating. In order to evaluate the endurance of the housing, the endurance tests against salt water have been conducted. Experiment results showed that the proposed device provides a reliable performance against salt water.

  • The evaluation of the quality of residential environment may be different according to the experts' characteristics. This study aimed at estimating the relative weights of the constituents of a residential environment by AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) through experts' evaluation. The respondent group was composed of 72 experts in the fields of architectural design, housing design, urban design, and urban planning. The findings are as follows(:) 1) the relative weights of residential constituents were different between detailed fields ; 2) the relative weights of residential constituents were not different according to institute in which experts are engaged ; and 3) for the practical application of estimation results of the relative weights, the relation between residential performance constituents and physical design elements should be considered in future.

A Study on Light-shelf system based on IT in Housing Space -Focus on Lighting Energy Saving- (주거공간을 위한 IT결합 광선반시스템 개발 연구 -조명에너지 저감을 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study was to test the effectiveness of the light-shelf system combined with IT to save lighting energy in resident space. According to the multiple variables that affected intensity of illumination, various experiments were designed and conducted. The main findings of this study were following: (1)the optimal level of light-shelf system was formulated which met the appropriate range of intensity of illumination in living-room; (2)although the mixed light-shelf system indicated a high performance, it could often provide discomforts to residents according to the degree of exposure; (3)artificial lights using light-shelf system combined with IT showed a higher effectiveness than those using fixed light-shelf system displayed. This study provided initial information of light-shelf system formative processes that could contribute to the lighting energy diminution. Future studies should focus more on multiple approaches regarding different types of resident space planning.

  • The evaluation of the quality of residential environment, in the planning process, is very important. If the environmental quality can be measured on the design scheme itself, it would be possible not only to estimate the residential environment, but also to apply the results of measuring in the planning and design of new residential projects. This study aimed at estimating the relative weights of the constituents of a residential environment by AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process). For the detailed analysis of relative weights, the respondent of survey were composed of two different groups-dwellers and experts. The findings are as follows (:) 1) the relative weights of residential constituents were different between the respondent groups; 2) the relative weights of residential constituents were different according to socio-demographic characteristics; and 3) for the practical application of estimation results of the relative weights, the relation between residential performance constituents and physical design elements should be considered.

Analysis of Formaldehyde Removal Performance of Gingko Leaf for Indoor air Quality Improvement (실내공기질 개선을 위한 은행잎의 폼알데하이드 제거 성능 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the performance of formaldehyde removal from building materials using catechin contained in ginkgo leaf. A small chamber method was used to set up one control group and three experimental groups. As a result, it showed a reduction of formaldehyde from at least 73.5% to 77% when it was increased by 0.4g compared to the control (0g). In addition, it was confirmed by linear regression analysis that the amount of ginkgo leaf and the amount of formaldehyde emission were negatively correlated. Therefore, it was confirmed that the amount of formaldehyde emission was affected by ginkgo leaf.
