The Elderly's Perspectives on Apartments as a Healthy Home Environments (공동주택 거주 고령자의 건강주거 인식특성 및 요구에 관한 연구)

  • This study focuses on a concrete understanding of the characteristics of perceptions and needs about healthy housing of the elderly, who represent the most vulnerable group of people in society, on the four evaluation dimensions of healthy housing as part of the research for evaluation indicators development for housing health performance in apartments. First, it was found that the elderly perceive an environment where their physical health is well supported as the most important factor for healthy housing. Additionally, the management support of the housing was perceived as the second most important consideration. Second, the most frequently used area for the elderly is the living room and a desired place to be added to indoor spaces was a room of their own or a 'living room', which clearly indicates the importance of the indoor environment for the elderly. Third, the biggest factor for the interior environment that affected the satisfaction level of the elderly in their housing was largely based on the convenience factor that helped lesson the discomfort in their daily life due to the physical aging process, and also on factors related to the pleasant indoor surroundings. Based on the concepts discovered in this study on healthy housing, more concrete items should be developed in the future for an extensive indicator for health performance evaluation, and actual research on the general public should follow suit.

The Development of Measurement Model for Evaluation of Residential Environment in Low Income Families by LISREL Program (LISREL을 이용한 주거환경 평가 측정모델 개발 -대전시 저소득층을 대상으로-)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a measurement model for evaluation of residential environment in low-income families. Residential environment means the housing unit itself and neighborhoods and community characteristics. Based on the previous research on housing environment, six factors (comfortable environment in indoor and outdoor, facilities environment in complex and community, sociopsychological environment, management and economic environment) were selected to evaluate residential environment and to provided a foundation for exploring the multidimensional factors of this research. As s confirmatory study, an Analysis of Linear Structural Relationships(LISREL) was utilized to develop the model. Despite of some measurement errors, the goodness of fit of an overall model was acceptable. Facilities environment in complex and sociopsychological environment were the most important factors in residential environmental evaluation of the low income families. the findings showed that housing policies and programs to improve the quality of homes in low-income families seemed to be beneficial to improve residential satisfaction of the residents.

  • This study was conducted to develop standards for evaluating what extant the physical environments of housing which can cope with the needs of the aging society. This study was consisted through literature investigation research mainly, and research target literature limits keyword to elderly housing environment and chose connected domestic various literatures. The study are as follows; First, in outdoor only area from design environment element accessibility, and safety emphasized from equipment element, health of community territory was expose from design'environment element that supportiveness is emphasized from equipment element. Second, in living room safety emphasized from design' environment element in bedroom and bathroom of indoor individuation space, vestibule, balcony supportiveness, health was expose that is emphasized kitchen and mess. Also, was expose that supportiveness is emphasized from equipment element of all individuation spaces. Third, was expose that design environment element in corridor that is indoor official business space, stair, lobby, elevator and safety from equipment element and supportiveness are emphasized.

  • The principle of Korean Traditional Housing was to be harmonized with the nature with shapes according to regional climate and materials easily available from the region. These environmentally friendly characteristics protected indoor environment from climate changes. The characteristics of Korean traditional housing to control indoor environment would be very useful for contemporary housing in that current issues, improving housing amenity and wellbeing, had basic goals same with what Korean Traditional Housing had. Though it could be found characteristics of indoor thermal environment heated by Ondol Heating System, analyses of evaluation made by occupants of the rooms were insufficient because most of the studies had been focused on the measurement of indoor thermal factors. Thus, with an evaluation of occupants for the indoor thermal comfort and an estimation of discomfort derived from the result of vertical temperature distribution, it was studied whether the agreeable indoor range of rooms, of which was Jeonju Hanok Living Experience Center, heated by Ondol Heating System corresponded to the agreeable indoor range presented in references.

The Planning Directions corresponding to Satisfaction of Residents on Housing Environment in Rural Munhwa-Mauel (거주자의 만족도에 근거한 농촌 문화마을의 계획방향)

  • The objective of this dissertation is to provide appropriate planning guidelines making on Munwha-Mauel. This study carries out the investigation on rural housing environment conditions and conducts the subjective evaluation by residents about the conditions. Both a field survey and a questionnaire survey are used for the study. The evaluation of housing environment are based on safety, health, efficiency, amenity, and local community. The concepts suggested by WHO are adjusted for the study. Eight villages were selected comprising of two newly built, four expanded, and two renovated. As a results of this study, residents´ satisfaction about the housing environment is categorized by the village type, whether a resident works on agriculture, and the residential backgrounds The results show evident differences. Important variables which affect the overall satisfaction are the interactions among the residents, the living convenience. Planning guidelines on Munwha-Mauel are suggested to based on the results.

Documentary research and questionnaire survey methods were used in this research. The sample was taken from 320 the residents living in Bundang. Data were analyzed with the SPSS PC+window version. The results were as follows: 1) residents were satisfied with rather their housing unit than residential environment, 2) there is significant difference the evaluation of residential satisfaction according to the age of husband and wife, the educational level of wife, 3) there is significant difference the evaluation of residential satisfaction according to living area, housing type, housing size. homeownership, living period

Evaluation System for Selecting Residents of Supportive Housing in Seoul

  • Purpose: This study aims to improve the evaluation system for selecting supportive housing applicants, addressing inconsistency, lack of health and care evaluation, and the need for a quantitative evaluation tool. Proposed improvements include a consistent evaluation index and items for each resident type, selecting suitable residents for independent living and community integration. Research design, data and methodology: This study analyzed the supportive housing selection checklist provided by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the supportive housing ordinance, and the SH Corporation's operation guidelines. Results: Study finds current supportive housing tenant selection system lacks consistency and proposes improvements. The same terms should be used for the same evaluation items, health and care evaluation items should be added for all tenants, and a quantitative evaluation tool should be used. Consistent evaluation index and items should be created for each resident type in the same evaluation area. The aim is to select suitable tenants with potential for independent living and community integration. Conclusions: This study improves the evaluation system for selecting supportive housing applicants by addressing inconsistencies and adding essential evaluation items related to health and care. While the study is significant, future research should focus on developing quantitative evaluation tools for all detailed items.

  • Sustainable development is one of the important concept of the 21st century. Especially, Social sustainability is an important factor in today's society with the weakened community, and is needed exploring social sustainability in the residential environment as a container of human life. The purpose of this study was to develop the evaluation indicators and evaluation system of social sustainability in residential environment. In order to develop evaluation indicators first, the delphi expert survey was conducted to assess the adequacy of selected the evaluation indicators in previous studies. Second, expert survey using the method of AHP was progressed in order to analyze importance and weight of evaluation indicators and was analyzed using Expert Choice. The findings of this study are as followings; the evaluation system was composed of locality, communality and organisms. The communality is the most important. The locality was composed of historical and cultural, reflection of regional identity and homogeneous of regions. Reflection of local identity is the most important in locality area. The communality was composed of social integration environment, community activities and the community space. The community activities are the most important in communality area. The organism was composed of employment, self-sufficiency, welfare, population, safety and housing. Safety is the most important in the organism area.

  • In this paper, it was studied and analyzed how the project for improvement of rural housing environment has filled the resident's requirements relative to characteristics of a rural environment, temporal and social requirements and so on. The project for improvement of rural housing environment has been executed in a few way : the rural housing environment, the development of territories for settlement, the development of a desolate region, composition of villages. To analyze and assess the accomplishments, it was considered codes and process relative to the project for improvement of rural housing environment and was analyzed present conditions and problems, through many reference books and administrative datas. 126 of residents in Chongwon county were carried out for researchs with questionaires. This study includes basic life conditions, status for improvement of rural housing environment, degrees of resident's satisfactions and so on.
