The purpose of this study was to analyze the preferences for the physical features of return farmer housing. Housing problems of rural areas is one of the important factors that determine the quality of life in rural areas. Through these return farmer housing as it wants to improve the living environment of rural areas. The purpose of this study aims to find the required characteristics of the return farmer for rural activation. The survey was conducted to target the return farmer households living in housing and expectant return farmer living in the rural. The results of this study were as follows. First, expectant return farmer than return farmer are more importance to house outside(environmental) factors. Showed that environmental conditions are more important than housing conditions, expectant return farmer of residential satisfaction. Second, return farmer prefer ratio was higher House prices and sizes, expectant return farmer among the external factors such as environmental conditions is the distance to the workplace were very important. The results of this study can be a basis for effective strategies for future rural activation. More sustainable in the future, including the analysis of various parameters in progress by being linked to policy measures that will be provided. This study aims to be the foundation of sustainable housing policies for return farmer households.

Korea is moving toward an aging society faster than the other advance countries such as the U.S. and France. Such aging phenomena are posing greater problems in rural areas than in urban areas, and particularly, decrease in productivity caused by aging population leads to economic difficulties and hinders the improvement of housing life. The purpose of this research is to examine and identify the housing conditions of the vulnerable in rural areas and to present ways to improve the elderly housing and the housing environment in rural areas and to provide basic data for materializing the policies to enhance the quality of life. The results of this research are as follows. First, the elderly in rural areas were found to receive relatively smooth supports for services related to clothing and food through the government and social organizations. But for the housing problems, it was found that there were not any supports. Second, the poor housing environment may cause diseases to the elderly with weak immunity, so ways to remedy these problems are urgently needed. Third, the vulnerable in rural areas can hardly bear the burden of improving the housing environment, so supports from the government and social organizations are needed. Fourth, ways to support the vulnerable such as households receiving basic living subsidies and to support the poor who are not receiving such subsidies should be explored.
By taking an ecological approach, The purpose of this thesis was to 1. analyze the existing literary work about design directives for the elderly housing. 2. case study about actual housing conditions of elderly people, 3. grasp the level of satisfaction and level of requirement about housing environment by Korean elderly, 4. by integrating the above three, provide foundational data arranging the appropriate housing design directives pertaining to Korea's actual circumstances. The major findings in this study were surmmarized as follows. (1) From the six literary works, 27 items as Microsystem, 1,249 items as Mesosystem, and 330 items as Exosystem were founded and there was no evidence of directives for Macrosystem. (2) As a result of the case study, there appeared a substantial difference between actual conditions of housing environment for the Korean elderly and the design directives perceived in the literary works. (3) The level of satisfaction and for the Korean elderly housing environment were founded differently in each directives. (4) By ecological approach for the Korean elderly housing environment design directives as follows. In microsystem (13 items) in mesosystem(83 items), in exosystem(24 items), in macrosystem(15 items), 135 items in total were suggested as design directives for Korean Elderly housing environment.

As a result of rapid aging speed in our society, it is necessary to supply a lot of housing for older people in near future. When we think that high portion of residence in rental housing complex composed of small units is the elderly, the housing units in those apartments have to be designed for the physical, mental, social, and economical conditions of elderly people who lives in such a residential complex. Considering these living conditions of the elderly, this study proposes a remodeling prototype of a living unit for older people in rental housing complex. For the research of this topic, various characteristics of the elderly and the environmental requirements for them firstly have been analysed from the literature survey and the interviews with two residents living in a rental apartment. And the design considerations for each space of the housing unit such as entrance, living room, bed room, bath room, and so forth have been explored. Based on the design guidelines above, the remodeling plan of a housing unit for older people has been propose as a result of this study.
This study was conducted to derive useful predictive variations for the qualitative supply of homes to provide information to real estate venture businesses and other business owners in neighborhood amenities and significant basic information to housing suppliers and policy makers. For this purpose, a number of apartment dwellers in Seoul were surveyed to examine their housing satisfaction, difference in housing satisfaction according to variables, and any relevant correlations. In detail, 500 apartment dwellers in Seoul were surveyed from September 1, 2009 to September 20, 2009 to gather resources that were processed through SPSS 14.0 to find percentage of frequency, mean, standard deviations, t-test, ANOVA, and Duncan Multiple Ranger's Test. The following were the findings of this study: First, housing satisfaction of apartment dwellers in Seoul was above average with the highest satisfaction with neighborhood environment. Second, satisfaction with amenities was significantly affected by dweller-related variables. Gangnam dwellers were more satisfied with housing environment and community environment than Gangbuk dwellers. By age, people in 20s and 30s showed high satisfaction with housing environment. Satisfaction with community environment was high among 20s, 30s and 40s. Satisfaction with management conditions was high among 20s. Also, satisfaction was high when housing period was between 1 and 10 years. By size, dwellers in 40py or larger homes showed high satisfaction with housing environment and management conditions. Dwellers in 30py and 40py or larger homes were satisfied with community environment. By ownership, dwellers with ownership of their homes showed high satisfaction. Third, there was a significant difference in satisfaction with neighborhood and social environments according to dweller-related variables. By region, dwellers of Gangnam area showed high satisfaction with neighborhood environment. By age, people in 20s, 30s and 40s showed high satisfaction with neighborhood environment. Also, satisfaction with neighborhood environment was high when housing period was around 10 years. By size, dwellers in 30py and 40py or larger homes were satisfied with neighborhood and social environments. Fourth, there was a close correlation between satisfaction with housing environment and satisfaction with community environment, and between satisfaction with community environment and satisfaction with management conditions. Thus, most dwellers that were satisfied with one variable of housing environment showed high satisfaction with other variables.
The aim of this study is to find out the solutions for an improvement of residential environment through the relation between satisfaction of residential environment and amenity awareness of the local residents in Chonnam Mokpo city. For this purpose, it is conducted a questionnaire survey of 203 local residents on the attributes of residential environment. The satisfaction factors of residential environment consist of 8 types of factors such as housing structure, stability, green tract of an avenue, convenience, housing environment, sanitary conditions, waterside facilities, and familiarity. It is analyzed that there is a great difference of the satisfaction between new town dwellers and old town dwellers in three satisfaction factors of a housing structure, convenience, and housing environment. The attributes of amenity awareness consist of 6 types of factors such as fitness, comfort, intimacy, vitality, naturalness, and brilliance. The new town dwellers have a high satisfaction in fitness and vitality factors, and the old town dwellers have a high satisfaction in naturalness factors. Through the analysis to the importance on the satisfaction factors of residential environment related to amenity awareness, it is founded that intimacy factor have importance in order of stability, familiarity, green tract of an avenue and sanitary conditions. Naturalness factor have importance in order of stability, waterside facilities, familiarity and green tract of a avenue. Fitness factor have importance in order of housing structure and sanitary conditions. Comfort factor have importance in order of stability, housing environment and sanitary conditions. And vitality factor have importance in order of housing environment, convenience and green tract of an avenue. Therefore, it is needed that the development plan of residential environment take into consideration in accordance with the importance on the satisfaction of residential environment in Mokpo city.
Korea has experienced a remarkable economic achievement since the 1960s. However, behind this facade of growth and progress, a chronic housing shortage in the capital region, declining owner-occupation, rising housing costs, and polarization in housing conditions between the better-off and the worse-off clearly illustrate the impasse and crisis in housing that Korea now faces. In addition, the IMF crisis and the late global financial crisis shocked the Korean housing market. The Korean government has made significant policy changes to improve housing security for less-privileged groups. In order to achieve housing policy development, the Korean government has tried to employ of advanced countries. What are the benefits(merits) and dangers(demerits) of housing policy transfer between countries? This paper emphasizes that we must recognize about 'differences' rather than 'commonalities' between countries with respect to policy transfer. It also maintains that the government should play a main role as an enabler rather as a provider of 'low-cost' housing.
People have experienced physical problems including vision problems with aging; some are normal and some are abnormal. When they have abnormal and impaired vision, they have a lower level of life satisfaction than their sighted peers. For the elderly with sight loss, well-designed housing could be an important indicator for their quality of life. Housing adjustment and modification could help the elderly cope with sight loss, do daily activities more independently, and lead to better quality of life. The purpose of this study is to investigate housing conditions for the elderly with vision impaired, state of housing adjustment or modifications, and the effects of housing conditions on the wellness of the elderly in Korea. For this study, 18 housing cases were investigated and a total number of 65 visually impaired people aged over 55 participated. Housing condition of those participated was poor. Most observed home hazards are level differences in living areas, obstacles in the hallway, confined space that is not allowed structural modification, swing doors from wardrobe or cabinets, color contrast, poor lightings, and etc. Majority of households participated in this study did not make modification or refurbishments, rather many of them tend to adapt themselves to their residential environments. Older adults living in better housing condition and under less difficult environments are likely to have higher life satisfaction. The effects of housing condition on wellness could be more influential when individual capabilities (e.g. health condition) are weaker. The findings underline that with intervention of individual characteristics, the effects of housing and physical environment on negative outcomes of vision loss would get ameliorated or reduced.
The purpose of this study is to provide a practical guide for the actual conditions and the preference of student housing in a regional university. The data are collected through questionnaire surveys from the students of a regional university. 265 samples are collected, and are analyzed by using SPSS-PC. The results are as follows: 1) The actual conditions of student housing Most residents of student housing(76.3%) come from the Capital region. Most of student housing are located at 30 minute distance from the school. Most of house style are Offistel as one room style. Most of housing size are within 10 minute distance from the school. The most inconvenient factor is the lack of soundproofing in the current student housing. 2) The preference of student housing The most preferred location is in the walking distance from the school, and the apartment is the most preferred housing style. The most preferred installation of inside is internet connection. When choosing student housing, students prefer the distance from the school as the most important factor. Most female students reside with a roommate within 10 py of housing size, cook for themselves, and consider rent and maintenance fee as the decision factors in choosing housing. The most preferred style of house is apartment, and they prefer to install basic furniture and kitchen system inside of housing. As students go up to higher grade, they prefer the apartment, and prefer to cook for themselves. More fresh men reside with a roommate compared to other grades. They prefer Offistel with meals service at a walking distance from the school.

In this study, we try to understand the present condition of elderly housing facilities in Contra Costa County, California, USA. We got the basic information of 92 facilities through the interview with the chief of elderly housing department in Contra Costa County, California. In practical way of research, this study bears various components of the elderly housing facilities, which are type of facility, financial aids, type of apartment, and provided living services. The short summerising of researches are; The present conditions of elderly housing facilities can be classified as Independent Living(53), Congregate Housing(23), Assisted Living(33), Dementia Care(12). The financial aid conditions are shown like SSI, HA, HUD. The types of apartment are studio type, 1 bedroom type, 2 bedroom type. These facilities provides meals, housekeeping, transportation, small pets. As a result of studying the present condition of elderly housing facilities in Contra Costa County, we propose the basic statistical report on the most general type of housing, financial aids, type of services that people of the states want to get.
