Riverbed filtration(RBF) system is used to develop ground water and infiltrated water supplies from permeable sand and gravel deposits. RBF plants are constructed with a reinforced concrete caisson that serves as a wet well pumping station. The lateral well screens are projected horizontally into waterbearing deposits from inside the caisson. Riverbed filtration(RBF) is a low-cost and efficient alternative water treatment for drinking-water applications.

Bottom sediments, in various types of sediment transport models, have been usually assumed to be horizontally and/or vertically homogeneous. The assumption may be appropriate in well-sorted sedimentary environments including sand beaches and high turbid regions of fine grained cohesive sediments. (omitted)

Internal waves, including all kinds of wave phenomena inside a stratified fluid system, have been a subject of interest for a long time in geophysics, coastal and ocean engineering, applied mathematics and hydrodynamics. The vast oceans on the earth are a complex stratified fluid system widely distributed with pycnoclines, which are horizontally layered regions with a large density variation, commonly located about 50-150 meters below the ocean surface. In this paper, the eye-opening conditions are investigated for the minimum bandwidth digital transmission systems where the sinc functions is used as a basic pulse so that only the Nyquist bandwidth is required for the channel. In order for these systems to be tolerant to the timing jitter in the receiver, the eye pattern should be open horizontally. It is proved that an eye opening condition which has been understood only as a sufficiency becomes a necessity as well. As its result, having a spectral null at teh Nyquist frequency is shown to have the same meaning as eye opening.

In this paper, TVLEM is selected for the shear wall model which was proposed by Kabeyasawa and the characteristics of spring models composing TVLEM was studied. In axial stiffness spring model, the horizontal displacements when Kabeyasawa model and simple axial stiffness hysteresis model were used, were closely similar. When the large shear-displacement was occured, stiffness degrading model was more adquate to the shear wall modelling than OOHM. Also for the purpose of modelling the horizontally continuous wall, the seperational method for TVLEM was used. The results of nonlinear analysis by this method were closely similar to experimental results .

도시 교통의 혼잡을 개선하기 위하여 대도시에서는 고가도로의 건설이 필수적이며, 고가도로 노선 내에서는 교통흐름의 원활화를 위하여 교량 자체의 평면 형상을 도로선형과 일치시켜야 하므로 특히 곡선교의 건설은 필수적이다. 아치교(arch bridge)나 곡선교(horizontally curved bridge)는 교량건설에 있어서 널리 적용되는 구조이며 적절히 설계가 이루어진다면 미관이 뛰어나고 매우 경제적인 교량구조가 될 수 있다. 또한 건설 지점의 입지조건 등에 의해 곡선교의 건설이 불가피한 경우가 많기 때문에 이에 대한 정확한 해석은 매우 중요하다.(중략)

An analysis is made of hydrodynamic forces acting horizontally on a two-dimensional cylinder, when it is exposed to incident waves and consequently undergoes a swaying motion in shallow water. Applying the method of matched asymptotic expansions the added mass, wave damping and the wave exciting force are obtained in terms of the difference in potential across the cylinder in a simple manner. The potential jump is related to the so-called blockage coefficient which is determined purely from geometry. It is found that the wave damping coefficient can not exceed the blockage coefficient.

Generally, if we want to change the perspectivity of objects, we should change the position of object or camera, forward or backward. In this paper, recognition of the perspectivity of objects is proposed by using a new elemental image array which is made change the pinhole points horizontally.
