  • In the research for Unmaned Air Vehicles(UAVs), the use of Vision-sensor has been increased. It is possible to calculate the position information of air vehicle by finding a horizontal line. In this paper, we proposed a vision-based algorithm for finding the horizontal line. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is faster than an existing algorithm.

  • The error diffusion is good for reproducing continuous image to binary image. However the reproduction of edge characteristics is weak in power spectrum analysis of display error. It is suggested for us an edge-enhanced error-diffusion method that is included pre-processing algorithm for edge characteristic enhancement. Pre-processing algorithm is organized horizontal and vertical directional 2nd order differential values and weighting function of pre-filter. The improved Error diffusion using pre-filter, presents a good results visually which edge characteristics is enhanced. The performance of the proposed algorithm is compared with that of the conventional edge-enhanced error diffusion by measuring the RAPSD of display error, the egde correlation and the local average accordance.

  • In this paper, we analyse the characteristics of the edge image and propose a new entropy coding optimized to the compression of the edge image. The pixel values of the edge image have the Gaussian distribution around '0', and most of the pixel values are '0'. By using this analysis, the Zero Block technique is utilized in spatial domain. And the Intra Prediction Mode of the edge image is similar to the mode of the surrounding blocks or likely to be the Planar Mode or the Horizontal Mode. In this paper, we make use of the MPM technique that produces the Intra Prediction Mode with high probability modes. By utilizing the above properties, we design a new entropy coding method that is suitable for edge image and perform the compression. In case the existing compression techniques are applied to edge image, compression ratio is low and the algorithm is complicated as more than necessity and the running time is very long, because those techniques are based on the natural images. However, the compression ratio and the running time of the proposed technique is high and very short, respectively, because the proposed algorithm is optimized to the compression of the edge image. Experimental results indicate that the proposed algorithm provides better visual and PSNR performance up to 11 times than the JPEG.

  • In this paper, we proposed an temporal error concealment (EC) using the proposed boundary matching method and the adaptive block matching method. The proposed boundary matching method improves the spatial correlation of the macroblocks (MBs) by reusing the pixels of the concealed MB to estimate a motion vector of a error MB. The adaptive block matching method inspects the horizontal edge and the vertical edge feature of a error MB surroundings, and it conceals the error MBs in reference to more stronger edge feature. This improves video quality by raising edge connection feature of the error MBs and the neighborhood MBs. In particular, we restore a lost MB as the unit of 8${\times}$16 block or 16${\times}$8 block by using edge feature from the surrounding macroblocks. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm gives better results than the conventional algorithms from a subjective and an objective viewpoint.

  • In this paper, measuring system of 5 DOF motion errors are proposed using two capacitive type sensor, a straight edge and a laser interfoerometer. Yawing error and pitching error are measured using the laser interferometer, and rolling error is measured by the reversal method using a capacitive type sensor. Linear motion errors of horizontal and vertical direction are measured using the sequential two point method. In this case, influence of angular motion errors is compensated using the previously measured angular motion errors. In the horizontal direction, measuring accuracy is within 0.05 $\mu$m and 0.27 arcsec, and in the vertical direction, it is within 0.15 $\mu$m and 0.5 arcsec. From these results, it is confirmed that the proposed measureing system is very effective to the measurement of 5 DOF motion errors in the ultra precision feed tables.

  • This thesis proposes a face detection algorithm using the color and edge informations in color image. The proposed algorithm segments skin color by Cb and Cr in YCbCr coordinates. Then face candidate regions are made after morphological filtering and labeling. For the regions, the Sobel vortical operation and horizontal projection are performed in the Y luminance components. The peak value indicates the eye location. Similarly, the chin location is detected by the Sobel horizontal operation and horizontal projection. The computer simulation shows that the proposed method gains similar detection rates of previous method and prevent facial region from including neck by detection of chin.

  • The error diffusion algorithm is good for reproducing continuous image to binary image. However the reproduction of edge characteristic is weak in power spectrum analysts of display error. In this paper, an error diffusion method which include pre-filter algorithm for edge characteristic enhancement is proposed Pre-filter algorithm is organized horizontal and vertical directional differential value and weighting function of pre-filter First, it is obtained the horizontal and vertical differential value from the peripheral pixels in original image using $3{\times}3$ Sobel operator Secondly weighting function of pre-filter is composed by function including absolute value and sign of differential value The improved Error diffusion algorithm using pre-filter, present a good result visually which edge characteristic is enhanced. The difference between orignal image and halftoning image is compared with edge-enhanced error diffusion algorithm by measuring the radially averaged power spectrum density.

  • The extent of a rectangular conducting plane for measuring electromagnetic interference is discussed. Mutual coupling between the transmit and receive antennas is negligible, the effects of the ground plane on the normalized site attenuation(NSA) are considered by applying GTD(Geometric theory of diffraction). The calculation was done for the case that measuring distance(d) was 3 m for both horizontal and vertical polarizations. As the result, the size of the rectangular ground plane almost never affects upon NSA for horizontal polarization, but for vertical case, when both width and length of the rectangular plane are several times as long as distance, the effects of the edges are reduced under 1 dB.

  • Deinterlacing methods are usually divided into inter-field deinterlacing and intra-field deinterlacing. The most common method of intra-field deinterlacing is the linear method which uses line doubling or line averaging. There are also some edge-enhancement methods such as ELA(Edge Based Line Average) and modified ELA. However, the linear interpolation generates edge blurring or staircase artifacts. The methods using ELA or modified ELA show poor deinterlacing at various types of edges because of insufficient edge information in a certain direction. This paper presents an intra-field deinterlacing algorithm that considers the interpolation based on edges in 7 directions and an edge line in the horizontal direction. It demonstrates better picture quality by reducing the staircase phenomenon of object in the conventional methods.

  • This paper describes the automation of an object generator and an image analyser in a knife scan OTF equipment to enhance the accuracy of OTF measurement. Pinholes and slits of various size in the object generator are used as an objects. A fishtail edge is mounted to the image analyzer and is translated to the direction of 45 degree angle with the horizontal to measure MTF simultaneously in the radial and tangential azimuths. The stepping motor control unit and software for the image analyzer are modified and the accuracy of this equipment is evaluated by measuring the OTF of SIRA group 50 mm standard lens.
