The error function can be calculated based on the Simpson method through a subroutine program. An integration program by FORTRAN language was made for diffusion equations of extended source with infinite extent and limited extent. The results on some alloying elements such as C, Co, Cr, Mn, Mo, Ni and V's diffusion in iron, showed the diffusion distance for Ni and Mo can only be $1{\sim}3\;{\mu}m$ and more distance for Co at common sintering temperature of $1120^{\circ}C$. To refine the particle size of the added elements down to a scale of micrometers is an effective way to get homogeneous distribution.
In [8] they introduced a new finite element method for accurate numerical solutions of Poisson equations with corner singularities. They consider the Poisson equations with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition with one corner singularity at the origin, and compute the finite element solution using standard FEM and use the extraction formula to compute the stress intensity factor, then pose a PDE with a regular solution by imposing the nonhomogeneous boundary condition using the computed stress intensity factor, which converges with optimal speed. From the solution they could get an accurate solution just by adding the singular part. This approach uses the polar coordinate and the cut-off function to control the singularity and the boundary condition. In this paper we consider Poisson equations with multiple singular points, which involves different cut-off functions which might overlaps together and shows the way of cording in FreeFEM++ to control the singular functions and cut-off functions with numerical experiments.
An attempt has been made here to study the propagation of SH-type surface waves in an elastic medium, which is initially stressed and heterogeneous and has a point source inside the medium. The upper portion of the composite medium is a sandy layer. It is situated on an initially stressed heterogeneous half-space, whose density, rigidity and internal friction are function of depth. The analysis has been carried out by using Fourier transform and Green's function approach. The phase velocity has been investigated for several particular situations. It has been shown that the results of the study agree with those the case of Love wave propagation in a homogeneous medium in the absence of the sandy layer, when the initial stress is absent. In order to illustrate the validity of the analysis presented here, the derived analytical expression has been computed numerically, by considering an illustrative example and the variances of the concerned physical variables have been presented graphically. It is observed that the velocity of shear wave is amply influenced by the initial stress and heterogeneity parameters and the presence of the sandy layer. The study has an important bearing on investigations of different problems in the earth's interior and also in seismological studies.

Revisited in this paper are Green's functions for unit concentrated forces in an infinite orthotropic Kirchhoff plate. Instead of obtaining Green's functions expressed in explicit forms in terms of Barnett-Lothe tensors and their associated tensors in cylindrical or dual coordinates systems, presented here are Green's functions expressed in two quasi-harmonic functions in a Cartesian coordinates system. These functions could be applied to thin plate problems regardless of whether the plate is homogeneous or inhomogeneous in the thickness direction. With a composite variable defined as $z=x_1+ipx_2$ which is adopted under the necessity of expressing the Green's functions in terms of two quasi-harmonic functions in a Cartesian coordinates system Stroh-like formalism for orthotropic Kirchhoffplates is evolved. Using some identities of logarithmic and arctangent functions given in this paper, the Green's functions are presented in terms of two quasi-harmonic functions. These forms of Green's functions are favorable to obtain the Newtonian potentials associated with defect problems. Thus, the defects in the orthotropic plate may be easily analyzed by way of the Green's function method.

We are enjoying a very comfortable life thanks to modern civilization, however, comfort is not guaranteed to us. Development of software system is a difficult and complex process. Therefore, the main focus of software development is on improving the reliability and stability of a software system. We have become aware of the importance of developing software reliability models and have begun to develop software reliability models. NHPP software reliability models have been developed through the fault intensity rate function and the mean value functions within a controlled testing environment to estimate reliability metrics such as the number of residual faults, failure rate, and reliability of the software. In this paper, we present a new NHPP software reliability model with Burr Type III fault detection rate, and present the goodness-of-fit of the fault detection rate software reliability model and other NHPP models based on two datasets of software testing data. The results show that the proposed model fits significantly better than other NHPP software reliability models.

Images are easily corrupted by noise during the data transmission, data capture and data processing. A technical method of noise analyzing and adaptive filtering for reducing of quantum noise in radiography is presented. By adjusting the characteristics of the filter according to local statistics around each pixel of the image as moving windowing, it is possible to suppress noise sufficiently while preserve edge and other significant information required in reading. We have proposed adaptive weighted median(AWM) filters based on local statistics. We show two ways of realizing the AWM filters. One is a simple type of AWM filter, whose weights are given by a simple non-linear function of three local characteristics. The other is the AWM filter which is constructed by homogeneous factor(HF). Homogeneous factor(HF) from the quantum noise models that enables the filter to recognize the local structures of the image is introduced, and an algorithm for determining the HF fitted to the detection systems with various inner statistical properties is proposed. We show by the experimented that the performances of proposed method is superior to these of other filters and models in preserving small details and suppressing the noise at homogeneous region. The proposed algorithms were implemented by visual C++ language on a IBM-PC Pentium 550 for testing purposes, the effects and results of the noise filtering were proposed by comparing with images of the other existing filtering methods.
This paper shows the results of a series of model bests on the behavior of single steel pipe pile which is subjected to lateral load in Nak-dong river sand. The purpose of the present paper is to estimate the effect of Non -homogeneous soil, constraint condition of pile head, lateral load velocity, relative density of soil, embedded pile length, and flexural stiffness of pile on the behavior of single pile which is embedded in Nak-dong river strand. These effects can be quantined only by the results of model tests. The nonlinear responses of lateral loadieflection relationships are fitted to 2nd polynomial equations by model tests results. Also, the lateral load of a deflection, yield and ultimate lateral load max. bending moment, and yield bending moment can be expressed as exponential function in terms of relative density and deflection ratio. By comparing Brom's results with model results on the lateral ultimate load, it is found that short and long pile show the contrary results with each other. The contrary results are due to the smaller assumed soil reaction than the soil reaction of the Nakiong river sand at deep point. By comparing lateral behavior on the homogeneous soil with non-homogeneous soil, it is shown that lateral loadieflection relationship is very dependent on the upper relative density. This phenomenon is shown remarkably as the difference between upper and lower relative density increases.
The seismic velocity at the formation varies widely with physical properties in the layers. These features on seismic shot gathers are not capable of reproducing normally by numerical modeling of homogeneous medium, so that we need that of random inhomogeneous medium instead. In this study, we conducted Gaussian autocorrelation function (ACF), exponential autocorrelation function and von Karman autocorrelation function for getting inhomogeneous velocity model and applied a simple geological model. According to the results, von Karman autocorrelation function showed short wavelength to the inhomogeneous velocity medium. For numerical modeling for a gas hydrate, we determined a geological model based on field data set gathered in the East sea. The numerical modeling results showed that the von Karman autocorrelation function could properly describe scattering phenomena in the gas hydrate velocity model which contains an inhomogeneous layer. Besides, bottom-simulating-reflectors and scattered waves which appear at seismic shot gather of the field data showed properly in the inhomogeneous numerical modeling.
Despite improvements in operative techniques and perioperative care, post-hepatectomy liver failure (PHLF) remains the most serious cause of morbidity and mortality after surgery, and several risk factors have been identified to predict PHLF. Although volumetric assessment using imaging contributes to surgical simulation by estimating the function of future liver remnants in predicting PHLF, liver function is assumed to be homogeneous throughout the liver. The combination of volumetric and functional analyses may be more useful for an accurate evaluation of liver function and prediction of PHLF than only volumetric analysis. Gadoxetic acid is a hepatocyte-specific magnetic resonance (MR) contrast agent that is taken up by hepatocytes via the OATP1 transporter after intravenous administration. Gadoxetic acid-enhanced MR imaging (MRI) offers information regarding both global and regional functions, leading to a more precise evaluation even in cases with heterogeneous liver function. Various indices, including signal intensity-based methods and MR relaxometry, have been proposed for the estimation of liver function and prediction of PHLF using gadoxetic acid-enhanced MRI. Recent developments in MR techniques, including high-resolution hepatobiliary phase images using deep learning image reconstruction and whole-liver T1 map acquisition, have enabled a more detailed and accurate estimation of liver function in gadoxetic acid-enhanced MRI.
This paper analyzed the social cost function of a congestion-prone service system, which is developed from the social cost minimization problem. The analysis focused on the following two issues that have not been explicitly explored in the previous studies: the effect of the heterogeneity of value-of-travel-times among customers on the structure of cost functions; and the structure of the supplier cost function constituting the social cost function. The analysis gave a number of findings that could be summarized as follows. First, the social marginal cost for one unit increase in system output having a certain value-of-travel-time is the sum of the service time cost for that value-of-travel-time and the marginal congestion cost for the average value-of-service-time of all the system outputs. Second, the marginal congestion cost equals the marginal supplier cost of system output under the condition that supplier compensates the customers for the changed service time costs which is incurred by the marginal capacity increase necessary for economically facilitating an additional system output. Third, the compensated marginal cost is the multiple of the marginal capacity cost and the inverse of system utilization ratio, if the service time function is homogeneous of degree zero in its inputs.
