  • Objective : This research was carried out for the development of medicine for vitiligo treatment and focused on the effect of Hominis Placenta extract on Melanin synthesis of B16 melanoma cells. Methods : Acitivity of tyrosinase playing a vital role in synthesis of Melanin and the quantity of Melanin, which is the final product in cultured B16 melanoma cells, effects of Hominis Placenta extract were measured. Results: The results indicated that Hominis Placenta extract increased both the amount of Melanin and the activity of tyrosinase according to the concentration, and they also supported by western blot analysis. Conclusion : The results suggests that Hominis Placenta extract has an advantageous effect on the promotion of Melanin synthesis and will contribute to the development of vitiligo treatment through further related studies.

  • Objectives: To investigate the effects of Hominis placenta pharmacopuncture on the blood picture and antioxidative activity in rats. Methods: Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into 3 groups; normal control (n=5), pharmacopuncture at CV12 (CV12 group, n=5), and pharmacopuncture at ST36 (ST36 group, n=5) once every other day for 4 weeks. Blood cell counting was performed and liver superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) activities were analyzed. Results: Values of red blood cell and plasma cell volume were significantly higher in the ST36 group than the normal control. Values of hematocrit, total protein, and albumin were not significantly different among groups. White blood cell count and the percentage of neutrophils, lymphocytes, and eosinophils were not significantly different among groups. However, monocytes and basophils were significantly increased in the ST36, and CV12 groups, respectively. SOD and CAT in the CV12 and ST36 groups were significantly activated than in the normal control group, while the activity of GSH-Px showed no significant difference among groups. Conclusions: Based on the findings of this study, Hominis placenta pharmacopuncture may have positive impact on antioxidative capacity, thus activate various functions of the body.

The both group injected on $GB_{20}$, $GB_{12}$ and $GB_{20}$ for 5 days without medicine. The sleep pattern disturbance score was measured by using 15 questions according to Korean Sleep Scale A(Oh, Jin Joo. Song, Mi. Soon. Kim, Shin Mi. 1998). Results & conclusions : The sleep pattern disturbance score of the experimental group who injected Hominis Placenta herbal acupuncture was significantly lower than that of the control group(t=7.00 p=.00). These results provided that Hominis Placenta herbal acupuncture of $GB_{20}$, $GB_{12}$ and HT, was effective for relieving sleep pattern disturbances, it is need mere sample's number and more treatment's duration.

Methods : We investigated 60 cases of patients with severe dyspepsia, who had been treated at Dept. of Internal Medicine, College of Oriental Medicine Dongeui University from May 2011 to September 2012. We divided patients into two groups : Group I was treated by general acupuncture(ACU, n=30) and Group II was treated by Hominis placenta Pharmacopuncture therapy(PHA, n=30). The symptoms and quality of life were measured with the Nepean dyspepsia index-Korean version(NDI-K) at baseline and 2 weeks. The responsiveness of the NDI-K was evaluated by correlation with symptom scores. Results : In ACU group, the 13 symptom scores were significantly decreased after treatment(p<0.05). In PHA group, the 9 symptom scores were significantly decreased after treatment(p<0.05). In ACU group, the 3 Quality of life(QOL) scores were significantly increased after treatment(p<0.01). In PHA group, the 3 QOL scores were significantly increased after treatment(p<0.05). Conclusions : General acupuncture therapy and Hominis placenta Pharmacopuncture therapy improves the symptoms and the quality of life in patients with severe dyspepsia. But there were no significant differences statistically between the two groups.
