Engine mount is used to soften the impact of bumper with elasticity recovery and damping capacity. Inner noise and vibration to influence the comfortableness for passenger cause the engine to the chattering phenomenon. In this study, structural analysis can be done by engine mounts designed with 3D modelling. Natural frequencies and harmonic responses are analyzed by using models with some kinds of configurations. When the simulation model is applied by the force of 600N within the range of natural frequencies, the magnitude of deformation becomes 0 to 3mm. As the number of holes around inside mount increases, the capability of vibration absorption and durability becomes larger. In case of 5holes around inside mount, it can be safest on durability. The life of mount becomes larger by changing the configuration of model. The engine mount improved with durability can be designed through the result of simulation.
Pulse-discharge technology (PDT) is an innovative technology which uses enormous energy developed by electric discharge for a very instant moment of time. Lately, it has been applied to make expanded sections at the ends of piles and anchors. The expanded section is formed by the deformation of bore-hole induced by shockwave energy developed in filling material by the pulse discharge. In this study, considering the phenomenon of pulse-discharge as an underwater explosion, finite element analyses were carried out to model the shockwave development by pulse discharge. The simulation technique was verified by comparing results with underwater discharge test results.
We propose a new method for the formation of an aluminum parting layer in the fabrication of field emitter arrays, in which we used a reflow property of aluminum at a lower temperature than the deformation point of glass. After the sputtered aluminum layer on the gate metal was etched for the formation of gate holes, we carried out a rapid thermal annealing process, by which the aluminum slightly diffused into the gate hole. This reflowed aluminum could be used as a parting layer and emitter arrays were easily fabricated using this method.
R.P.D fabrication can be made if the skills already is properly used in the manufacturing press. You may feel extremely comfortable to wear it. The material used has high elasticity that it can endure the hole process of Acetal Wax pattern casting without any deformation moreover its adaptability is not bad. Because of the poor financial condition of patterns and health insurance, Acetal R.P.D Framework can be one of the best alternatives used for setting clasp partial denture cheaply. R.P.D Framework is aesthetically excellent. The color caused by saliva is so similar to that of the rest of teeth that even dentists as well as patients can not recognize clasp arm. Clasp also helps to secure prosthesis ideally without damaging teeth due to its deep position downward. Since dentists and patients have a good reaction to clasp so far, we are encouraged to apply it to other technical fields.
The paper is devoted to study a mesh-free analysis method of structural elements of engineering structures based on B-spline Wavelet Basis Function. First, by employing the moving-least square method and the weighted residual method to solve the structural displacement field, the control equations and the stiffness equations are obtained. And then constructs the displacement field of the structure by using the m-order B-spline wavelet basis function as a weight function. In the end, the paper selects the plane beam structure and the structure with opening hole to carry out numerical analysis of deformation and stress. The Finite Element Method calculation results are compared with the results of the method proposed, and the calculation results of the relative error norm is compared with Gauss weight function as weight function. Therefore, the clarification verified the validity and accuracy of the proposed method.
This article proposes a digital image correlation (DIC) strain measurement method based on a finite element (FE) algorithm. A two-step digital image correlation is presented. In the first step, the gradient-based subpixels technique is used to search the displacements of a region of interest of the specimen, and then the strain fields are obtained by utilizing the finite element method in the second step. Both simulation and experiment processing, including tensile strain deformation, show that the proposed method can achieve nearly the same accuracy as the cubic spline interpolation method in most cases and higher accuracy in some cases, such as the simulations of uniaxial tension with and without noise. The results show that it also has a good noise-robustness. Finally, this method is used in the uniaxial tensile testing for Dahurian Larch wood specimens with or without a hole, and the obtained strain values are close to the results which were obtained from the strain gauge and the cubic spline interpolation method.
Using ab initio density functional theory, we study the structural and electronic properties of interface between Cu surface and highly electron withdrawing hexaazatriphenylene-hexanitrile (HAT-CN) known as an efficient hole injection layer for organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs). We calculate the equilibrium geometries of the interface with different HAT-CN coverages. Usually, some of C-N bonds located at the edge of the HAT-CN molecule are deformed toward Cu atoms resulting in the reconstruction of Cu surface. By analyzing the electron charge and the potential distributions over the interface, we observe the formation of surface dipoles, which modify the work function at the interface. Such dipole formation is attributed to two origins, one of which is a geometrical nature and the other is a bond dipole. The former is related to structural deformation mentioned above, whereas the latter is due to charge transfer between organic and metal surface.
Generally, it is used the compensation spring to compensate the inaccuracy of screen image induced by thermal deformation in CRT monitor. Its mechanism is hi-metallic system made of heterogeneous metals and these springs are bonded by laser welding. But laser welding induces a non-uniform temperature distribution, and residual stress is yielded locally by these temperature deviation. Therefore, this study measures the curvature constant to assess functions of the compensation spring of shadow mask with respect to increment temperature and estimates the effect of residual stress on the performance of tri-metal used to compensation spring.
The composite beam connections often encountered fracture failure in the welded bottom flange joint, and a bottom flange bolted connection has been proposed to increase the deformation ability of the bottom flange joint. The seismic performance of the bottom flange bolted composite beam connection was suffered from both the composite action of concrete slab and the asymmetric load transfer mechanisms between top and bottom beam flange joints. Thus, this paper presents a comprehensive numerical study on the working mechanism of the bottom flange bolted composite beam connections. Three available modelling methods and a new modelling method on the flange-stud-slab interactions were compared. The efficient numerical modeling method was selected and then applied to the parametric study. The influence of the composite slab, the bottom flange bolts, the shear composite ratio and the web hole shape on the seismic performance of the bottom flange bolted composite beam connections were investigated. A hogging strength calculation method was then proposed based on numerical results.
PURPOSES : The objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of size and depth of cavities on the pavement failure using the full-scale accelerated pavement testing. METHODS : A full-scale testbed was constructed by installing the artificial cavities at a depth of 0.3 m and 0.7 m from the pavement surface for accelerated pavement testing. The cavities were made of ice with a dimension of 0.5 m*0.5m*0.3m, and the thickness of asphalt and base layer were 0.2 m and 0.3 m, respectively. The ground penetrating radar and endoscope testing were conducted to determine the shape and location of cavities. The falling weight deflectometer testing was also performed on the cavity and intact sections to estimate the difference of structural capacity between the two sections. A wheel loading of 80 kN was applied on the pavement section with a speed of 10 km/h in accelerated pavement testing. The permanent deformation was measured periodically at a given number of repetitions. The correlation between the depth and size of cavities and pavement failure was investigated using the accelerated pavement testing results. RESULTS : It is found from FWD testing that the center deflection of cavity section is 10% greater than that of the intact section, indicating the 25% reduction of modulus in subbase layer due to the occurrence of the cavity. The measured permanent deformation of the intact section is approximately 10 mm at 90,000 load repetitions. However, for a cavity section of 0.7 m depth, a permanent deformation of 30 mm was measured at 90,000 load repetitions, which is three times greater than that of the intact section. At cavity section of 0.3 m, the permanent deformation reached up to approximately 90 mm and an elliptical hole occurred at pavement surface after testing. CONCLUSIONS : This study is aimed at determining the pavement failure mechanism due to the occurrence of cavities under the pavement using accelerated pavement testing. In the future, the accelerated pavement testing will be conducted at a pavement section with different depths and sizes of cavities. Test results will be utilized to establish the criteria of risk in road collapse based on the various conditions.
