A Study on Development of the Dual-thrust Flight Motor for Enhancing the Hit Probability (명중률 향상을 위한 이중추력형 비행모터 개발에 대한 연구)

  • This paper describes the development of the dual-thrust flight motor for enhancing the hit probability of unguided rockets. We designed dual-thrust flight motor by shape modification of the double base propellant with high burning rate, and confirmed the dual-thrust performance by static firing tests. The test results showed the thrust ratio of about 1:7.6 between sustaining phase and boosting phase, and had a quietly normal dual-thrust characteristics. And the results showed that there was not the fire extinction phenomenon of propellant due to the pressure drop.

  • A variable-state block interference channel model is presented which matches asynchronous multiple-access slow frequency-hopped spread-spectrum systems which suffer from bursts of interference of variable duration. For variable-state block interference channels test pattern techniques combined with interleaving are presented from which the decoder obtain side information about channel states. By examining test patterns the decoder estimates which parts of data blocks are affected by interference and regards the parts of blocks affected by interference as erasures. Since the presence of test patterns reduces the number of bits for data transmission, test patterns are not useful for variable-state block interference channels for small hit probability, It is shown that test patterns increase the capacities of variable-state block interference channels for large hit probability. It is also shown that test patterns provide a almost full side information about channel states for certain values of parameters.

  • In the direct Gun Fire Control System(GFCS), it is essential to analyze the impact of the specific error components on the hit probability to optimize the system design. For this purpose the sensitivity equations of these error components are conveniently used, but it is too difficult to get those equations for the complex system with too many system elements. Normally sensitivity analysis is performed using numerical and statistical methods for the ground combat system. This method requires much computation, and makes us difficult to estimate the sensitivity change of specific error component intuitionally for the changing operating conditions. In this paper we propose a set of sensitivity equations deriving from closed form solution of the ballistic differential equation for the bullet. They are handy equations with very little computations, easy to understand the physical meaning of the related system variables. Some simulation results are shown to demonstrate usefulness of our algorithm for the 30mm projectile.

  • In this paper, we evaluate the performance of a Futurebus based multiprocessor system with MESI cache coherence protocol for four bus transaction types. Graphical symbols and compiler of SLAM II are used in modeling and simulation. A steady-state probability of each state for MESI protocol is computed by a Markov chain. The probability of each state is used as an input value for a correct simulation. Processor utilization, memory utilization, bus utilization, and the waiting time for bus arbitration are measured in terms of the number of processors, the hit ratio of cache memory, the probability of internal operation, and bus bandwidth.

  • Steam generator tubes play an important role in safety because they constitute one of the primary barriers between the radioactive and non-radioactive sides of the nuclear power plant. For this reason, the integrity of the tubes is essential in minimizing the leakage possibility of radioactive water. The integrity of the tubes is evaluated based on NDE (non-destructive evaluation) inspection results. Especially ECT (eddy current test) method is usually used for detecting the flaws in steam generator tubes. However, detection capacity of the NDE is not perfect and all of the "real flaws" which actually existing in steam generator tunes is not known by NDE results. Therefore reliability of NDE system is one of the essential parts in assessing the integrity of steam generators. In this study POD (probability of detection) of ECT system for ODSCC in steam generator tubes is evaluated using multivariate logistic regression. The cracked tube specimens are made using the withdrawn steam generator tubes. Therefore the cracks are not artificial but real. Using the multivariate logistic regression method, continuous POD surfaces are evaluated from hit (detection) and miss (no detection) binary data obtained from destructive and non-destructive evaluation of the cracked tubes. Length and depth of cracks are considered in multivariate logistic regression and their effects on detection capacity are evaluated.

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient surveillance RADAR(RAdio Detection And Ranging) interface control unit(ICU) design in the naval combat system. The proposed design applied a standardized architecture for modules that can be shared in ship combat system software. An error detection function for each link was implemented to increase the recognition speed of disconnection. Messages that used to be sent periodically for human-computer interaction(HCI) are now only transmitted when there is a change in the datagram. This can reduce the processing load of the console. The proposed design supplements the radar with the waterfall scope and time-limited splash recognition in relation to the hit check and zeroing of the shot when the radar processing ability is low due to the adoption of a low-cost commercial radar in the ship. Therefore, it is easy for the operator to determine whether the shot is hit or not, the probability of wrong recognition can be reduced, and the radar's resources can be obtained more effectively.

  • Many factors such as wind direction, wind strength, temperature, and obstacles affect a munition's trajectory. Since these factors eventually determines the probability of hit and the hitting point of a target, these factors should be considered to obtain reliable weapon effectiveness data. In this study, we propose the extension of the MSDL(Military Scenario Definition Language) to reflect these factors to improve the reliability of weapon effectiveness data. Based on the existing MSDL, which has been used to set the initial condition of a military simulation scenarios, the newly identified subelements are added in ScenarioID, Environment, Organizations, and Installations as a scenario schema. Also, DamageAssessment and DesignOfExperiments element are added to make weapon effectiveness data easily. The extended MSDL enables to automatically generate the simulation scenarios that reflect various factors which affect the probability of hit or kill. This extended MSDL is applied to an integrated simulation software of weapon systems, named AddSIM version 4.0 for generation of weapon effectiveness data.

Improving Probability of Precipitation of Meso-scale NWP Using Precipitable Water and Artificial Neural Network (가강수량과 인공신경망을 이용한 중규모수치예보의 강수확률예측 개선기법)

  • 본 연구는 한반도 영역을 대상으로 2001년 7, 8월과 2002년 6월로 홍수기를 대상으로 RDAPS 모형, AWS, 상층기상관측(upper-air sounding)의 자료를 이용하였다. 또한 수치예보자료를 범주적 예측확률로 변환하고 인공신경망기법(ANN)을 이용하여 강수발생확률의 예측정확성을 향상시키는데 있다. 신경망의 예측인자로 사용된 대기변수는 500/ 750/ 1000hpa에서의 지위고도, 500-1000hpa에서의 층후(thickness), 500hpa에서의 X와 Y의 바람성분, 750hpa에서의 X와 Y의 바람성분, 표면풍속, 500/ 750hpa/ 표면에서의 온도, 평균해면기압, 3시간 누적 강수, AWS관측소에서 관측된 RDAPS모형 실행전의 6시간과 12시간동안의 누적강수, 가강수량, 상대습도이며, 예측변수로는 강수발생확률로 선택하였다. 강우는 다양한 대기변수들의 비선형 조합으로 발생되기 때문에 예측인자와 예측변수 사이의 복잡한 비선형성을 고려하는데 유용한 인공신경망을 사용하였다. 신경망의 구조는 전방향 다층퍼셉트론으로 구성하였으며 역전파알고리즘을 학습방법으로 사용하였다. 강수예측성과의 질을 평가하기 위해서 $2{\times}2$ 분할표를 이용하여 Hit rate, Threat score, Probability of detection, Kuipers Skill Score를 사용하였으며, 신경망 학습후의 강수발생확률은 학습전의 강수발생확률에 비하여 한반도영역에서 평균적으로 Kuipers Skill Score가 0.2231에서 0.4293로 92.39% 상승하였다.

  • In this paper, we have designed the Anti-Aircraft Artillery(AAA) model for the surface-to-air virtual engagement. The AAA model for the virtual combat simulation needs to detect the present target and estimate the target flight trajectory to find the aiming point. To find collision point of projectile fired from the artillery with the moving air target, we have presented the estimating technique for artillery aiming point. And we have analyzed the target probability of kill using Calton Hit function. Anti-air threat envelops are presented when the target velocity, position and the arrangement of four AAA are varying. Then we have compared the analyzed result using developed model with AEM model of MSA program.

  • In the field of financial technology, it is the U.S. initiative, and Japan is obliged to flattery in many respect. Currently Japan is in a too much defenseless situation that the economic structure is based on U.S. theory, In the conventional stochastic theory, it is also face that the prediction sometimes does not hit in the actual problem because it assumes a known probability distribution, none of which illustrates the real situation. A new research and development of management prediction support system is proposed based on fuzzy measures, that deals with the ambiguous, subjective evaluation by the people living in the real world well. Especially, the system will support venture, small and medium companies.
