Thermal Model of High-Speed Spindle Units

  • For the purpose to facilitate development of high-speed spindle units (SUs) running on rolling bearings, we have developed a beam element model, algorithms, and software for computer analysis of thermal characteristics of SUs. The thermal model incorporates a model of heat generation in rolling bearings, a model of heat transfer from bearings, and models for estimation of temperature and temperature deformations of SU elements. We have carried out experimental test and made quantitative evaluation of the effect of operation conditions on friction and thermal characteristics of the SUs of grinding and turning machines of typical structures. It is found out that the operation conditions make stronger effect on SU temperatures when rpm increases. A comparison between the results of analysis and experiment proves their good mutual correspondence and allows us to recommend application of the models and software developed for design and research of high-speed SUs running on rolling bearings.

  • Because streaming mode connection server suitable to wide area ATM networks performs transmission, reception and lookup with time restriction for the transmission time of a cell, it has demerits of large cell loss incase that burst traffic occurs. Therefore, in this paper to decrease cell loss we propose a high speed CAM (Content Addressable Memory) which is capable of processing data of streaming mode connections server at a high speed. the proposed CAM is applied to forwarding table VPC map which performs function to output connection numbers about input VPI(Virtual Path Identifier)/VCI(Virtual Channel Identifier). The designed high speed CAM consist of DBL(Dual Bit Line) CAM structure performed independently write operation and match operation and two-port SRAM structure. Also, its simulation verification and full-custom layout is performed by Hspice and Composs tools in 0.8 .$\mu$m design rule.

  • When the high speed train (KTX) departs from station in the high-speed line, intermittent on-board signal disappearance causes a hindrance of the operation punctuality. Therefore, we have a research objective to verify the causes of hindrance and to find an improvement plan. process of research, when train leaves the station, we applied sand on the rail to improve adhesive power, that sand has an effect on the ATC(Automatic Train Control) signal wave. We detected & analyzed signal waves which is came from detecting device by changing operation condition in accordance with sand material overage detection to be achieved.

  • Performance Evaluation of end mills for high speed cutting has been performed in a view of dynamic characteristics and noise-vibration under operation. The tools tested in this research consist of three foreign country made and one korean made. In addition, numerical models using finite element method are established, which are confirmed by experimental results. The evaluation results has been feedback for developing high performance end mills fur high speed cutting tools.

  • According as zone of life of big city is expanded by new city development etc.., need special skill master plan compensation which can be systematic for wide area traffic problem solution and confusion expense minimization in the metropolitan area because wide area of capital region traffic is gone continuously and continues. Accordingly, Kyonggi Province suggested rapid-transit railway achievement that can connect Seoul Gangnam in 20 minutes with Dongtan new city recently. MLTM(Ministry of Land Transport and Maritime Affaris) announced "Capital region railway network improvement plan research services (2007.12)" result that Gangnam High-speed railway route (Suse $\sim$ Dongtan $\sim$ Pyeongtaek) construction for offer High-speed railway service to capital region and Kyonggi southern part area inhabitantses and need to line capacity tribe solution by Seoul-Busan high-speed railway second-stage and Honam high speed railroad completion. Is judged that need examination about wide area rapid-transit railway combined application operation that take advantage of rail track reserve capacity of High-speed railway for utilization efficiency elevation of country and efficient investment of national finance according as High-speed railway and Gangnam rapid-transit railway route that is suggested in Kyonggi Province are overlaped. Therefore, in this research, I wish to quote investment efficiency plan of railroad business by that different kind's train is run in uniformity track by presenting combined application operation plan and working expenses curtailment effect etc. that is optimized through analysis of roadbed and E & M technology condition, intermediate station plan, train operation planning etc. in case of wide area rapid-transit railway and high-speed railway run combined application.

  • In switched reluctance motor(SRM) deives, the turn-on and turn-off angles of each phase switch should be accurately controlled for accuracy and efficiency. The accuracy of the switching angles is mainly dependent upon the resolution of the encoder and the sampling period of the microprocessor, that are used to provide the information of the rotor position and to implement a control algorithm of the SRM, respectively. Thus, the higher the speed of the SRM is increased, the larger the amount of the switching angle deviations are from preset turn-on and turn-off angles. Consequently, the motor can not be driven stably high speed region. There fore, a simples and low cost encoder suitable for the practical and stable SRM drive is proposed and the control algorithm to provide the switching signals using a simple digital logic circuit is also presented for a wide speed range operation.

  • By most sensorless speed control schemes for induction motor. the control performances in high speed range are good, but it is difficult to obtain satisfactory results in low speed region. This paper proposes a new method controlling the low and the high speed regions separately to attain the stable operation in the overall range. The current error compensation method, in which the controlled stator voltage is applied to the induction motor so that the error between stator currents of the numerical model and the actual motor can be forced to decay to zero as time proceeds. is used in the low speed region In the high speed region. the method with adaptive observer is utilized. This control strategy contains an adaptive state observer for flux estimation. The rotor speed can be calculated from the rotor flux and the motor currents. The experimental results indicate good speed and load responses from the very low speed range to the high, and also show accurate speed changing performance between the low and the high speed range.

Multi-bit Sigma-Delta Modulator for Low Distortion and High-Speed Operation

  • A multi-bit sigma-delta modulator architecture is described for low-distortion performance and a high-speed operation. The proposed architecture uses both a delayed code and a delayed differential code of analog-to-digital converter in the feedback path, thereby suppressing signal components in the integrators and relaxing the timing requirement of the analog-to-digital converter and the scrambler logic. Implemented by a 0.13 ${\mu}m$ CMOS process, the sigma-delta modulator achieves high linearity. The measured spurious-free dynamic range is 89.1 dB for -6 dBFS input signal.

  • Improvement projects has been progressed for railway electrification and double track line in the conventional line as well as high speed line for the high speed and large transportation capability of railway. Especially, many variable operation plans are possible such as interaction between high speed line and conventional line and operation of tilting train due to the electrification of the conventional line. Railway electrification is more energy efficient and environmentally-friendly, but it has some problems such as an enormous initial construction and maintenance costs and electrical accidents. Therefore, the more intensive research will be progressed about railway electrification effectiveness for the continuous electrification project. So, we analyzed railway electrification effectiveness about the energy side using annual operation data of electric car and diesel car. The energy side was divided into energy costs and national energy consumption for analyzing electrification effectiveness about entire line and specific line. We verified advantage of energy costs and national energy consumption in this paper and this result will contribute to the progress of the continuous electrification project and the more efficient operation ways in electrification line
