Dynamic Analysis of a Moving Vehicle on Flexible beam Structure (II) : Application

  • Recently, mechanical systems such as a high-speed vehicles and railway trains moving on flexible beam structures have become a very important issue to consider. Using the general approach proposed in the first part of this paper, it is possible to predict motion of the constrained mechanical system and the elastic structure, with various kinds of foundation supporting conditions. Combined differential-algebraic equation of motion derived from both multibody dynamics theory and finite element method can be analyzed numerically using a generalized coordinate partitioning algorithm. To verify the validity of this approach, results from the simply supported elastic beam subjected to a moving load are compared with the exact solution from a reference. Finally, parametric study is conducted for a moving vehicle model on a simply supported 3-span bridge.

  • The On-Board Computer System Used for rolling stocks is one of the core equipments in trains, which deals with collecting real-time data of a train to display and record the train's status, control the train, and assist the driver and maintenance function. To design control software for such complex control system, in this paper UML based modeling technique is applied. A behaviorally expressive set of diagrammatic languages for modeling object-oriented systems is presented. It constitutes the constructive subset of UML, and also it enables model execution and full code synthesis.

  • As railroad industry face the new Renaissance era, effective and efficient maintenance methods for rolling stock operation are required with advanced railroad technology. All kinds of railroad systems such as high speed long distance train, metropolitan mass transit and light rail require systematic maintenance technology in order to maintain the safe railroad operation. Simulation models for detailed operations of the sample maintenance center are developed. In this study, standard maintenance procedures, layout, equipments and number of workers of Siheung Metropolitan Railroad Maintenance Rolling Stock Depot are considered. The proposed simulation models are developed using simulation package ARENA. Three simulation analysis using the developed simulation model are done. First, the bottleneck operation is identified. Second, the relationship between maintenance center size, number of workers and cycle time is analyzed. Lastly, the scheduling performances between PERT/CPM and Critical Chain Project Management(CCPM) are compared.

  • The concurrent engineering technologies have been broadly used in the field of the design, testing, manufacturing and maintenance works to reduce development time and costs. For this purpose, many design environments with the product data management system, the virtual engineering system and web database system are developed. In this research, we developed the driving simulator of the KTX(Korea Train Express) as a basic study for building the concurrent engineering design environment of rolling stock. The virtual track was developed from the Seoul to the Busan and the Daejeon to Mockpo to generate immersible driving environment. Also. fault generation systems were developed to educate drivers of the KTX. We expect to reduce the time and costs of newly developed rolling stock using the design environment developed in the research.

  • The utilization of System Design Data(SDD) based upon Model Based Systems Engineering(MBSE) process is as important as the building of them. This paper describes the development and the utilization of a report template which can extract and modify data we need from SDD. A report template is defined as a set of elements in the Reporting Facility and is created by placing a sequence of Reporting elements onto a Behavior Diagram-like structure called a ReportNet. We focus on the development of a report template to secure and validate requirements traceability.

Contact Loss Simulator to Analyze the Contact Loss of a Rigid Catenary System

  • In this paper, a contact loss simulator for a rigid catenary system was designed and used to analyze the effect on the power source according to the conditions of the rigid catenary system and pantograph. R-bar applied to a high-speed train among the real rigid catenary system was used in the contact loss simulator for rigid catenary systems. The excitation frequency generated with the movement of the railway vehicle was simulated. The characteristics according to the frequency and amplitude of the excitation frequency and the presence or absence of pantograph movement were analyzed. This work is considered to be helpful in analyzing the characteristics of contact loss in the interface between a real rigid catenary system and a rail vehicle.

체결장치 비선형 거동을 고려한 교량 단부에서의 체결장치 압상력 평가 (Evaluation of Uplift Forces Acting on Fastening Systems at the Bridge Deck End Considering Nonlinear Behaviors of the Fastening Systems)

  • 실제 체결장치는 들림하중이 작용할 때 압축하중이 작용할 때와 동일한 강성은 작은 하중범위 내에서 유지되고 어느 정도 들림하중이 커지면 매우 강한 비선형 거동특성을 보인다. 압상력 기준을 초과하는 개소들에서는 보통보다 매우 고가인 특수체결장치를 부설하여야하는데, 설계하고자하는 선로 전체구간에서 그 비용은 매우 크게 소요될 수 있다. 따라서 경제적 설계를 위하여 체결장치의 비선형 거동특성을 반영하여 압상력을 정확하게 평가할 필요가 있다. 본 연구에서는 현재 국내 콘크리트궤도에서 주로 사용되고 있는 일반 체결장치들(SFC와 System 300-1)을 대상으로 압상력 작용 시 거동특성을 파악하기 위하여 실내시험을 실시하였다. 시험결과를 토대로 수치해석에 적용하기 위한 체결장치의 비선형 하중-변위선도를 도출하였다. 기존의 선형모델과 더불어 도출된 비선형모델을 적용하여 교량단부의 변형에 따른 체결장치에 작용하는 압상력을 평가하였다. 또한 교량단부 체결장치 압상력에 미치는 영향요소인 침목간격, 교좌장치 중심으로부터 교량상판 최 끝단에 위치한 체결장치까지의 수평거리, 교량 거더높이 등에 대한 매개 변수연구를 통하여 이들 영향요소가 체결장치의 최대 압상력에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 평가결과 경제적인 궤도 설계를 위해서는 교량단부에 부설되는 체결장치의 사용성 검토 시에 체결장치의 비선형 특성이 반영될 필요가 있음을 알 수 있었다.

두께 불균일 AA6005 압출재의 하중제어 마찰교반접합에서 접합 조건과 툴 형상이 결함발생에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Welding Condition and Tool Shape on Defect Formation of Extruded AA6005 with Non-uniform Thickness using Load-Controlled Friction Stir Welding Technique)

  • Friction stir welding using aluminum alloys has been widely applied for transportation vehicles because of the light specific weight, which can be used to obtain sound joint and high mechanical properties. This study shows the effects of rotation speed, welding speed, welding load, and tool shape on defect formation with extruded AA6005, which is used for railway vehicle structures of non-uniform thickness welded by friction stir welding using load control systems. Optical microscopy observations and liquid penetrant testing of each FSW joint were carried out in order to observe defect formation. Two kinds of defects, that of probe wear and that of lack of penetration in the bottom of the welded zone, were observed. In the case of using a taper shaped tool, the defect free zone is very narrow, within 100 kgf; however, in case of using a cylindrical shape tool, the defect free zone is wider.
