Central Flux Scheme과 WENO Scheme을 이용한 고차 정확도 Hybrid Scheme의 개발 (Development of a High-Order Accurate Hybrid Scheme Using the Central Flux and WENO Schemes)

  • A hybrid central-WENO scheme is proposed. The fifth order WENO-LF scheme is coupled with a central flux scheme at cell face. Two sub-schemes, the WENO-LF scheme and the central flux scheme, are switched by a weighting function. The efficiency and accuracy of the proposed hybrid central-WENO scheme is validated through several numerical experiments.

  • Calculation of accurate wall heat flux for high enthalpy flows requires a dense grid system, which leads to significantly large computational time. A high-order scheme can improve the efficiency of calculation because wall heat flux can be obtained accurately even with a relatively coarse grid system. However, conventional high order schemes have some drawbacks such as oscillations near a discontinuity and instability in multi-dimensional problem. To resolve these problems, enhanced Multi-dimensional Limiting Process(e-MLP) was applied as a high-order scheme. It could provide robust and accurate solutions with high order accuracy in calculation of high enthalpy flows within a short time. We could confirm the efficiency of the high order e-MLP scheme through grid convergence tests with different grid densities in a hypersonic blunt nose problem.

  • An adaptive wavelet transformation method with high order accuracy is proposed to allow efficient and accurate flow computations. While maintaining the original numerical accuracy of a conventional solver, the scheme offers efficient numerical procedure by using only adapted dataset. The main algorithm includes 3rd order wavelet decomposition and thresholding procedure. After the wavelet transformation, 3rd order of spatial and temporal accurate high order interpolation schemes are executed only at the points of the adapted dataset. For the other points, high order of interpolation method is utilized for residual evaluation. This high order interpolation scheme with high order adaptive wavelet transformation was applied to unsteady Euler flow computations. Through these processes, both computational efficiency and numerical accuracy are validated even in case of high order accurate unsteady flow computations.

  • The flow field around a high-speed train including cross-wind effects has been simulated. This study solves 3-D unsteady incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in the inertial frame using the iterative time marching scheme. The governing equations are differenced with 1st-order accurate backward difference scheme for the time derivatives, 3th-order accurate QUICK scheme for the convective terms and 2nd-order accurate central difference scheme for the viscous terms. The Marker-and-Cell concept was applied to efficiently solve continuity equation, which is differenced with 2nd-order accurate central difference scheme. The 4th-order artificial damping is added to the continuity equation for numerical stability. A C-H type of elliptic grid system is generated around a high-speed train including ground. The Baldwin-Lomax turbulent model was implemented to simulate the turbulent flows. To validate the present procedure, the flow around a high speed train at constant yaw angle of $45^{\circ}\;and\;90^{\circ}$ has been simulated. The simulation shows 3-D vortex generation in the lee corner. The flow separation is also observed around the rear of the train. It has concluded that the results of present study properly agree with physical flow phenomena.

자유표면 유동 시뮬레이션을 위한 고정확도 수치도식의 검토 (Study on High Accurate Schemes for Simulation of Free-surface Flow)

  • Numerical schemes for spacing and time are tested to accurately simulate the wave propagation. The tested numerical schemesinclude 2nd-order central differencing, l-order upwind scheme, 2nd-order Leith scheme, 3rd-order MUSCLE, QUICK and QUICKEST schemes in spacing and the Euler and 4th-order Runge-Kutta(R-K) schemes in time. It is seen that more accurate results are expected when the higher-order schemes, especially the schemes combined with a TVD control limiter, are used for solving the wave equation. The 3rd-order upwind scheme with limiter and the 4th-order R-K scheme in tim£ are finally applied to the wave-making simulation in a digital wave tank.

A Fourth-Order Accurate Numerical Boundary Scheme for the Planar Dielectric Interface: a 2-D TM Case

  • Preserving high-order accuracy in high-order FDTD solutions across dielectric interfaces is very important for practical time-domain electromagnetic simulations. This paper presents a fourth-order accurate numerical boundary scheme for the planar dielectric interface to be used in the fourth-order FDTD method proposed earlier by the author. The interface scheme for the two-dimensional (2-D) transverse magnetic (TM) polarization case is derived and validated by monitoring the $L_2$ norm errors in the numerical solutions of a partially-filled cavity demonstrating its fourth-order convergence and long-time numerical stability in the presence of the planar dielectric interface.

A FOURTH-ORDER ACCURATE FINITE DIFFERENCE SCHEME FOR THE EXTENDED-FISHER-KOLMOGOROV EQUATION

  • In this paper, a nonlinear high-order difference scheme is proposed to solve the Extended-Fisher-Kolmogorov equation. The existence, uniqueness of difference solution and priori estimates are obtained. Furthermore, the convergence of the difference scheme is proved by utilizing the energy method to be of fourth-order in space and second-order in time in the discrete $L^{\infty}-norm$. Some numerical examples are given in order to validate the theoretical results.

유동방향 국소격자를 이용한 비격자법의 대류항에 관한 수치도식 (Meshless Advection using Flow Directional Local Grid)

  • In this paper an accurate and stable gridless method that can be applied to multi-dimensional convection problems is developed on a flow directional local grid. A two dimensional pure convection problem is calculated and more accurate and stable solution is obtained compared with other schemes in grid method. The tested numerical schemes include 1st-order upwind scheme, 2nd-order Leith scheme, 3rd-order MUSCL, and QUICK scheme. It is seen that more accurate results are expected when the schemes combined with a MMT control limiter.

  • The WENO filter is presented for unsteady flow analysis. The filter is low dissipative and dispersive. The results using the present WENO filter show more accurate resolution than those using other filters. The numerical analyses for several test cases are performed.

  • Compact schemes are shown to be effective for a class of problems including convection-diffusion equations when combined with multigrid algorithms [7, 8] and V-cycle convergence is proved[5]. We apply the multigrid algorithm for an semianalytic finite difference scheme, which is desinged to preserve high order accuracy despite of singularities.
