  • At the Korea Land and Housing Corporation(LH), concretes with high design strength of 50 MPa and 80 MPa that are composed only of ordinary Portland cement, blast furnace slag, and fly ash are developed. To determine whether the developed high strength concretes have the same properties when they are produced in batch plant(B/P) condition in the ready mixed concrete plant, and as existing high strength concretes, field tests are performed and material properties are evaluated. To investigate the material properties of the high strength concretes before and after pumping, compressive strength, flowability, air content, hydration temperature, pumping and compactability are evaluated. In field tests, before and after pumping, flowability satisfied the relevant criteria. In terms of air content, while it was slightly decreased after pumping, it satisfied the requirements. Hydration temperature criteria were satisfied, and compactability was excellent as well. The study found that the developed ternary high strength concretes have the same properties as existing high strength concretes. They can also be useful for the construction of high-rise buildings, as they are economical.

  • This study is performed to evaluate flowability of high flowable concrete using ordinary portland cement, crushed coarse aggregate, crushed sand, sea sand, fly ash, lime powder and superplasticizer. The slump flow and air content are increased with increasing the content of lime powder. But, the O-type funneling time and Box-type passing are decreased with increasing the content of lime powder. The slump flow, air content, O-type funneling time, Box-type passing and L-type filling of target compressive strength 21-27 MPa and 35-42 MPa at curing age 28 days are 47-50 cm and 56-60 cm, 4.2-5.5% and 4.0-5.7%, 8-12s and 5-10s, 4.3-5.0 cm and 3.4-5.0 cm, and excellent, respectively. These concrete can be used for high flowable concrete.

  • In this paper, the flowability, strengths, impact resistance and sulfuric acid resistance of steel fiber reinforced high performance concrete (SFHPC) for the steel fiber content and fly ash and blast furnace slag as admixtures were presented. For evaluating flowability particularly, tests of slump flow, box-type passing ability and L-type filling ability were performed. The slump flow of SFHPC was some decreased with increase of the steel fiber content. At the box-type passing ability, the difference of box height of SFHPC is greatly increased with increasing the fiber content. The L-type filling ability of SFHPC was not excellent above $0.75\% of the steel fiber content. Also, the compressive strength of SFHPC was decreased with increase of the steel fiber content, but the flexural strength of SFHPC was much higher than that of the concrete without the steel fiber. At the impact resistance, drop number of SFHPC for reaching final fracture was increased with increase of the fiber content. Also, the drop number for reaching initial fracture of lmm was increased with increase of the fiber content. At the sulfuric acid resistance, 4-week weight change of SFHPC with the steel fiber was almost similarity that of HPC without the steel fiber and was in the range of 73.6 to 81.5.

  • In this study, the properties of super flowing cocrete containing gly ash were experimentally investigated and compared with those of ordinary concrete. Tests were carried out on five types of super flowing concrete mixes containing fly ash and three types of ordinary concrete mixes without fly ash. Flow test, O-funnel test, box test, Ltype thest and slump test were carried out to obtain the properties for the workability of fresh concrete. Compressime strength, splitting tensile strength, modulus of elasticity. creep and shrinkage test were also obtained as the mechanical properties of hardened concrete. In fresh concrete, it was found that super flowing concrete had excellent workability and flowability compared with ordinary concrete, and the volume ratio of coarse aggregate to concrete volume greatly influenced flowability. Super flowing concrete also had good mechanical properties at both early and late ages with compressive strengths reaching as high as 40 MPa at 28 days. The creep deformation of super flowing concrete investigated were relatively lower than that of ordinary concrete.

  • This study investigated the flowability and mechanical properties of cost-effective steel fiber reinforced ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) by using locally available materials for field-cast application. To examine the effect of mixture constituents, five mixtures with different fractions of silica fume, silica powder, ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS), silica sand, and crushed natural sand were proportionally prepared. Comprehensive experiments for different mixture designs were conducted to evaluate the fresh- and hardened-state properties of self-consolidating UHPC. The results showed that the proposed UHPC had similar mechanical properties compared with conventional UHPC while the flow retention over time was enhanced so that the field-cast application seemed appropriately cost-effective. The self-consolidating UHPC with high flowability and low viscosity takes less total mixing time than conventional UHPC up to 6.7 times. The X-ray computed tomographic imaging was performed to investigate the steel fiber distribution inside the UHPC by visualizing the spatial distribution of steel fibers well. Finally, the tensile stress-strain curve for the proposed UHPC was proposed for the implementation to the structural analysis and design.

  • In this paper, we described the basic elements (relative flowing area ratio and funeling velocity ratio in mortar, flowability and self-compactibility in concrete, and etc.) required for the maximum mix design of the super flowing concrete (SFC) using manufactured sand. Also, manufactured sand and fly ash were used for investigating characteristics of SFC through various experiments (replacement ratio of manufactured sand, optimum mix condition) before producing the concrete in batch plant. As the result of this project, the SFC using manufactured sand up to 50% showed high flowability and self-compactibility in fresh concrete. Furthermore, its compressive strength is higher than normal concrete without manufactured sand. From now on, this study may suggest how to apply manufactured sand in the SFC.

  • In this study, the concrete, in which the steel fiber(SF) with different volume-surface ratios and lengths was intermixed in High flowing Self-Compacting Concrete(HSCC), was produced to compare with steel fiber reinforced concrete as a part of plan to improve the workability and the quality of steel fiber reinforced concrete. As the result of experiment, the flowing and passing characteristics of HSCC intermixed with SF was highly improved as there was no fiber ball phenomenon due to the effect of high flowability and the viscosity, and in the identical range of compressive strength, it showed the tendency that the splitting and flexural strength was increasing as the length was getting longer regardless of volume-surface ratio when compared with HSCC which was intermixed with SF. It is estimated that in case of application of HSCC intermixed with steel fiber to work sites, it would be possible to improve the workability and the quality which would be better than that of steel fiber reinforced concrete which has been used.

  • High flowing concrete has flowability, passability, segregation resistance and so on, and there are so many influence factor to affect to fluidity of high flowing concrete, therefore it is so difficult to evaluate exactly the properties in fresh state. This study is to analyze and evaluate thefluidity of high flowing concrete affected by fine aggregate with test method such as, slump-flow test, V-lot test, L-flow test, Box filling test.

  • The densified mixture design algorithm (DMDA) was employed to manufacture high-performance lightweight concrete (LWAC) using silt dredged from reservoirs in southern Taiwan. Dredged silt undergoing hydration and high-temperature sintering was made into a lightweight aggregate for concrete mixing. The workability and durability of the resulting concrete were examined. The LWAC made from dredged silt had high flowability, which implies good workability. Additionally, the LWAC also had good compressive strength and anti-corrosion properties, high surface electrical resistivity and ultrasonic pulse velocity as well as low chloride penetration, all of which are indicators of good durability.

  • This study is performed to examine the flowability and filling ability of steel fiber reinforced high performance concrete. For the estimation of the flowability and filling ability, slump flow, box height difference and L-shape filling appearence are measured and compared. The test result shows that the slump flow is $60{\pm}5cm$ to make no difference with containing steel fiber, box height difference is increased with increasing steel fiber and L-shape filling appearence is to bad with increasing steel fiber. But, proper containg of steel fiber is considered to be applied for high performance concrete without decreasing of slump flow and filling ability.
