UPS management system in the HFC network

  • The HFC network is one of the most useful network for high-speed data communication. Optical node unit, Trunk branch amplifier, Tap-offs, and Uninterrupted power supplies (UPS) are in this network. Since power failures of the equipments in the network is crucial, UPS should be periodically monitored and controlled by the Host to prevent long power failures. This paper describes a UPS management system which is to monitor and control UPS to supply electric power to ONUs and TBAs in the network.

  • Since power failures in high-speed communication network, especially in HFC(Hybrid Fiber Coaxial cable) network are critical, microcontroller-based UPS(Uninterrupted Power Supply) are commonly used in the network. Hardware and software of UPS management system is designed and implemented to monitor and control UPS status to supply electric power to ONU and TBA in the HFC network. The result of laboratory tests and field tess of this system shows the scan rate to be 1 to 10 minutes to sufficiently monitor the status of UPS in the network.

High-speed Performance of Single Flux Quantum Circuits Test Probe (단자속 양자 회로 측정용 고속 프로브의 성능 시험)

  • High-speed probe made to test single flux quantum(SFQ) circuits was comprised of semi-rigid coaxial cables and microstrip lines. The impedance was set at 50 $\Omega$to carry high-speed signals without much loss. To do performance test of high-speed probe, we have attempted to fabricate a test chip which has a coplanar waveguide(CPW) structure. Electromagnetic simulation was done to optimize the dimension of CPW so that the CPW structure has an impedance of 50$\Omega$, matching in impedance with the probe. We also used the simulation to investigate the effect of the width of signal line and the gap between signal line and ground plane to the characteristics of CPW structure. We fabricated the CPW structure with a gold film deposited on Si wafer whose resistivity was above $1.5\times$10$_4$$\Omega$.cm. The magnitudes of S/sub 21/ of CPW at 6 ㎓ in simulations and in the actual measurements done with a network analyzer were: -0.1 ㏈ and -0.33 ㏈ (type A),-0.2 ㏈ and -0.48 ㏈ (type B), respectively. Using the test chip, we have successfully tested the performance of high-speed probe made for SFQ circuits. The probe showed the good performance overthe bandwidth of 10 ㎓.

  • The Korean railroad has developed as a foundation of nation's nucleus network. Nowadays Korea has entered into a new era because of the operation of KTX(Korea Train Express). As an introduction of KTX, the Korean railroad system has advanced Korean style high speed rail(HSR-350x), which is based on transfer and own technology. It is expected that the Korean rail road system has the leading design and production ability. Korea is planning to develop its own high speed railroad system until 2007. So the present task is to initiate a strategic export method for the development and value-added of Korean high speed railroad system. Furthermore this study proposes the administrative and technical policy for the basic technical research and creativeness predominance.

  • In this paper, we implemented sigmoid active function which make it difficult to design of the digital neuron networks. Therefore, we designed of the high speed processing of the sigmoid function in order to digital neural networks. we designed of the MAC(Multiplier and Accumulator) operation unit used residue number system without carry propagation for the high speed operation. we designed of MAC operation unit and sigmoid processing unit are proved that it could run of the high speed. On the simulation, the faster than 4.6ns on the each order, we expected that it adapted to the implementation of the high speed digital neural network.

  • As the on-board electric devices determine the performances of vehicles, production of reliable devices is important. To keep the reliability of devices constant, management of performance evaluation of the on-board devices is crucial. Because temperature has a serious effect on failures of the components of the devices, its measurement is the first step for good management. In this study, we described performance characteristics of domestic auxiliary block developed through G7 project. We measured the performances of auxiliary block during test running by the developed on-line measurement system. After we save the input real-time data from each signal of Korean High Speed Train through the network line, we can acquire necessary information through post-processing program. We verify the motor block characteristics of Korean High Speed Train by this system.

  • Because streaming mode connection server suitable to wide area ATM networks performs transmission, reception and lookup with time restriction for the transmission time of a cell, it has demerits of large cell loss incase that burst traffic occurs. Therefore, in this paper to decrease cell loss we propose a high speed CAM (Content Addressable Memory) which is capable of processing data of streaming mode connections server at a high speed. the proposed CAM is applied to forwarding table VPC map which performs function to output connection numbers about input VPI(Virtual Path Identifier)/VCI(Virtual Channel Identifier). The designed high speed CAM consist of DBL(Dual Bit Line) CAM structure performed independently write operation and match operation and two-port SRAM structure. Also, its simulation verification and full-custom layout is performed by Hspice and Composs tools in 0.8 .$\mu$m design rule.

  • This study was carried out about the system engineering, the design, and Mock-up for the development of passenger car of Korean High Speed Train of maximum operating speed of 350km/h. The design was studied to carbody section & lay out, ring, fitting, carbody, electrical system based on Korean-TGV. The design of aluminium alloy carbody which was enabled to reduce the weight of carbody structure and was studied with construction of air-tightness. Air pressure controlled system provided to comfort passenger due to a reduction of difference pressure between inside and outside of passenger room on running of the tunnel. The Interior design was performed in order to satisfy high speed and comfort to study by the modern design. The electrical system was designed two parts of logic and network for high reliability of train.

  • In this paper, We design a RF control system capable of handling multiple POS thermal printers. The system has three parts including embedded master controller, RF controller and high-speed thermal printer. Specially the designed linux embedded controller has simple structure and high performance to connect the TCP/IP network. The effectiveness of the developed RF control system is shown by proposed food ordering system.
