Optimal Shape of Blunt Device for High Speed Vehicle

  • A contact strip shape of a high speed train pantograph system was optimized with CFD to increase the aerodynamic performance and stability of contact force, and the results were validated by a wind tunnel test. For design of the optimal contact strip shape, a Kriging model and genetic algorithm were used to ensure the global search of the optimal point and reduce the computational cost. To enhance the performance and robustness of the contact strip for high speed pantograph, the drag coefficient and the fluctuation of the lift coefficient along the angle of attack were selected as design objectives. Aerodynamic forces were measured by a load cell and HWA (Hot Wire Anemometer) was used to measure the Strouhal number of wake flow. PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry) was adopted to visualize the flow fields. The optimized contact strip shape was shown a lower drag with smaller fluctuation of vertical lift force than the general shaped contact strip. And the acoustic noise source strength of the optimized contact strip was also reduced. Finally, the reduction amount of drag and noise was assessed when the optimized contact strip was applied to three dimensional pantograph system.

An integrated structural health monitoring system for the Xijiang high-speed railway arch bridge

  • Compared with the highway bridges, the relatively higher requirement on the safety and comfort of vehicle makes the high-speed railway (HSR) bridges need to present enhanced dynamic performance. To this end, installing a health monitor system (HMS) on selected key HSR bridges has been widely applied. Typically, the HSR takes fully enclosed operation model and its skylight time is very short, which means that it is not easy to operate the acquisition devices and download data on site. However, current HMS usually involves manual operations, which makes it inconvenient to be used for the HSR. Hence, a HMS named DASP-MTS (Data Acquisition and Signal Processing - Monitoring Test System) that integrates the internet, cloud computing (CC) and virtual instrument (VI) techniques, is developed in this study. DASP-MTS can realize data acquisition and transmission automatically. Furthermore, the acquired data can be timely shared with experts from various locations to deal with the unexpected events. The system works in a Browser/Server frame so that users at any places can obtain real-time data and assess the health situation without installing any software. The developed integrated HMS has been applied to the Xijiang high-speed railway arch bridge. Preliminary analysis results are presented to demonstrate the efficacy of the DASP-MTS as applied to the HSR bridges. This study will provide a reference to design the HMS for other similar bridges.

고속 연안순시선 선형개발과 저항성능에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Hull Form Development and Resistance Performance of a High-Speed Coastal Patrol Boat)

  • Initial hull form of 10 G/T and 40 knots class coastal patrol boat is newly developed. The resistance performances are experimentally and numerically investigated by model test at high speed circulating water channel(CWC) and CFD technique. The effect of a fin attached at hull side and initial trim are studied together. Wave patterns are observed to make clear the relation between the resistance performance and the wave characteristics. it can be found that the initial trim plays a role to increase the resistance performance above a certain velocity.

도시형 자기부상열차용 굴절형 분기장치의 개발(I) (Development of a Piecewise Bendable Switch System for the Urban Transit MagLev(I))

  • This paper presents the status quo of the development of a piecewise bendable switch system for the urban transit MagLev. MagLev system as well as railroad requires switch systems to reach its destination. Requirements of the switch system for commercial lines are high speed operation satisfying about 2-3 minute headway and system reliability, etc. Parallel moving type switch system was installed on the test track of urban transit MagLev in KIMM. In this system, switch operation from one position to another can be done in about 90 seconds. Therefore, we concluded that this system can not satisfy the headway for the commercial lines. We decided to develop a high speed piecewise bendable switch system in which switching can be done in 20 seconds. Designed switch system is very complicated in view of operating mechanism. It consists of 11 segmented girder beams driven by hydraulic cylinders. To gain the idea of a piecewise bendable switch system, we manufactured and tested a 1/5 scale switch model. We are going to construct a full scale piecewise bendable switch system next year.

선저 공기공급에 따른 활주형선의 저항특성 연구 (A Study on the Resistance Characteristics for Planing Craft with Air Injection at the Bottom)

  • 활주형선은 고속 운항시 선저에 동적압력을 발생시켜 선체를 부상시켜 침수표면적을 감소시킴으로서 저항이 감소하게 되어 고속의 항주가 가능하게 된다. 또한, 활주형선 선저부에 공기공급을 유도하면 고속 주행시 선저 공기공급에 따른 접수면 감소로 인하여 전체저항 감소에 따른 속도향상과 연비절감 효과가 있다. 이에, 본 논문에서는 고속 모형시험이 가능한 실 해역모형시험기법을 이용하여 고속 활주형선을 대상으로 선저부에 공기공급을 유도하여 침수표면적 감소에 따른 저항성능 개선을 위해 공기공급 유무에 따른 고속 활주형선의 저항특성을 비교, 분석하였다. 시험결과, 선저 공기공급 활주형선이 공기공급이 없는 선형에 비해 저항감소 효과가 현저하게 나타나는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

180톤 어업지도선 물분사 추진기의 성능시험 연구 (Study on the Performance of Waterjet Propulsion System for 180ton class Fishing Guard Ship)

  • The performance of the waterjet system of 180 ton class fishing guard ship has been experimentally studied. A waterjet propulsion system has many advantages in comparison with a conventional screw propeller especially for high speed craft because of its good cavitation performance. Recently waterjet system has been applied to fishing boats and fishing guard ship because of avoiding a net problem although their speeds are not so high. This paper describes experimental procedure and analysis method of resistance and self-propulsion tests with a 1/14.46-scale model. Experimental results were analyzed according to ITTC 96 standard method. The full-scale effective power and delivered power of the ship were also analyzed and the full-scale speed predicted from the model test results shows a good agreement with the full-scale result from the sea trial tests.

주상활주선형(柱狀滑走船型)의 SPRAY 관측(觀測)과 저면압력분포(底面壓力分布) (Some Tests on Spray of a Prismatic Planing Hull)

  • 고속정은 spray를 수반하는 흐름 특성을 가지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 spray의 흐름 특성을 파악하기 위해 몇가지 실험을 수행하였다. 우선 아크릴판으로 만든 주상활주선형을 이용하여, 예인수조에서 흐름의 가시화를 수행하고, 그 기록으로부터 화상해석을 통하여 spray흐름의 방향, 유속등을 계측하였다. Spray에 의해 발생하는 모델의 양력, 항력을 구하기 위해서는 spray의 두께가 주요한 계측 항목이 된다. 본 연구에서는 운동량 이론을 이용한 새로운 spray의 두께 계측법을 제시하였다. Spray의 두께를 국부적으로 계측하여 저항성분을 구하여 적분하므로써, 본 실험모델이 받는 저항성분중 spray저항을 평가하였다. 또한 활주모델의 저면에서 압력을 계측하여 spray가 발생하는 원리를 보여 주었으며, 계측된 압력을 적분하므로써 모델에 작용하는 압력저항성분을 평가하였다.

Aerodynamic parameters selection and windbreak mechanism of wind barrier for high-speed railway bridge

  • To investigate the optimal aerodynamic parameters of wind barriers for the T-beam of high-speed railway (HSR) bridge and the wind field of the wind barrier-train-bridge system, the three-component forces of the system and the wind pressure on the vehicle surface were tested and analyzed through the sectional model wind test. The effects of wind velocity, with/without wind barrier, the height of wind barrier, and the air permeability of the wind barrier on the aerodynamic characteristics of the train-bridge system are discussed. Additionally, a CFD numerical model is constructed to evaluate the wind environment of the bridge surface with/without the wind barrier, and the impact of wind barrier on the running safety of vehicles are analyzed. Comprehensively considering the running safety of the train and the wind-resistant stability of the bridge, it is more appropriate to set the wind barrier height H as 3.5 m and the porosity 𝛽 as 30% respectively.

Test Generation for Speed-Independent Asynchronous Circuits with Undetectable Faults Identification

  • In this paper, we propose a test pattern generation algorithm on the basis of the identification of undetectable faults for Speed-Independent(SI) asynchronous control circuits. The proposed methodology generates tests from the specification of a target circuit, which describes the behavior of the circuit in the form of Signal Transition Graph (STG). The proposed identification method uses only topological information of a target circuit and reachability information of a fault-free circuit, which is generated in the form of Binary Decision Diagram(BDD) during pre-processing. Experimental results show that high fault coverage over single input stuck-at fault model is obtained for several synthesized SI circuits and the use of the identification process as a preprocessing decreases execution time of the proposed test generation with negligible costs.

마이크로 프로펠러 수차의 성능 특성 (Performance Characteristics of Micro Propeller Turbine)

  • The main objective of this study is to validate the performance characteristics of newly developed micro propeller turbine based on experimental model test. For this purpose, Measurements of efficiency and cavitation tests with variations on the guide vane opening, blade rotational speed, head and load are carried out according to the IEC standard for model testing. From the tests and scale up calculation, the maximum prototype and model efficiency of the runner blade reaches as high as 90.87 % and 90.27 % respectively. Test results show that good cavitation behavior is covered in the range of output 50kW and 100 kW.
