  • This report describes the high speed DC motor (8,000 rpm) that we have designed, manufactured and tested. DC motor is the best drive system in electric-mechanical energy conversion. The design concept for high speed and high energy density to DC motor is to maximize Ampere-conductor in armature and to maximize flux density in armature teeth, armature core, pole, yoke using flux path.

Development of Wound Rotor Synchronous Motor for Belt-Driven e-Assist System

  • The automotive industry is showing widespread interest in belt-driven electric motor-assisted (e-Assist) systems. A belt-driven assist system (BAS) starts and assists the combustion engine in place of the conventional generator. In this study, a water-cooled wound rotor synchronous motor (WRSM) for the e-Assist system was designed and analyzed. The performance of the WRSM was compared with that of an interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM). The WRSM efficiency can be improved for the BAS by adjusting the field flux at high speeds. The field current map to obtain the maximum efficiency based on the speed and torque was developed. To control the field flux via field current control in the WRSM, a general H-bridge circuit was added to the WRSM inverter to get the rapid current response in the high-speed region; the characteristics were compared with the chopper circuit. A WRSM developed for the belt-driven e-Assist system and a prototype 115 V power electronic converter to drive the WRSM were tested with a 900 cc combustion engine. The test results showed that the WRSM-type e-Assist system had good characteristics and could successfully start and assist the 900 cc combustion engine.

  • To get high efficiency in variable speed control of induction motor it is required that the vector control should be separated from flux components current and torque component current. In this paper the vector control is modeled by the estimation of the stator flex. Representing induction motor speed controller as a digital system with he use of he 32bit DSP improves the motor control performance The IGBT is used as the switching device and the validity of the proposed vector control is proved through voltage current wave and the characteristics of the velocity response as the drive circuit being simplified

  • This study is about efficiency of pretreatment process and operating factor to membrane process at continuous coagulation/ultrafiltration process in water treatment. The capacity of pilot plant was $0.06{\beta}(C)/d$. The raw water used was from Nakdong stream which was characteristized by high organic matter and high turbidity. The result of the test was that coagulation is good process as to high removal rate to organic matter and turbidity but It caused problem to membrane pore blocking. This paper is to determine the membrane fouling potential under different membrane flux, backwash pressure and linear velocity. Backwash pressure and flux is important parameter on operation of membrane system. Those are directly affected on membrane system. When backwash pressure increased from 150 kPa to 200 kPa, the result showed that fouling (pressure increase rate) changed from 3.69 kPa/h to 0.93 kPa/h and the recovery rate changed from 90.7 % to 82.0 %. Linear velocity had slightly effect on fouling. Linear velocity increased from 0.2 m/s to 0.5 m/s, the corresponding pressure rate changed from 0.93 kPa/d to 0.77 kPa/d.

High Coercive Nd-Fe-B Sintered Magnets for High Temperature Application

  • Various sintered magnets containing $28{\sim}31\;wt%$ Nd and $0{\sim}7\;wt%$ Dy were evaluated for coercivity and irreversible flux loss as a preliminary study to develop highly-coercive, high-temperature magnets that can be applied for driving motors in a hybrid vehicle. The sintered magnets were prepared in sequence of strip casting, HD treatment, jet milling, magnetic field pressing, sintering and post-annealing. Increasing Dy content and adjusting post-annealing temperature monotonically increased coercivity of magnets from about 14 kOe to 30 kOe. A magnet containing 28 wt% Nd and 7 wt% Dy exhibits a $(BH)_{max}$+$_i{H_c}$ value of almost 64. This is very close to what the automobile industry considers as the minimum value (65) for a hybrid vehicle system. Moreover, irreversible flux loss of the magnet was about 3% at $200^{\circ}C$, which is well less than the allowable limit (5%) to a driving motor in hybrid vehicles.

  • In the context of rapid temperature rise in mid-to-high latitude regions, cold region wetlands have become a hotspot for current wetland carbon cycle research due to their high sensitivity to climate change. Strengthening the monitoring of CO2 fluxes in wetland ecosystems is of great practical significance for clarifying the carbon balance of wetlands and maintaining the ecological balance of wetland ecosystems in China's high latitude regions. In this study, the carbon flux (NEE, Net ecosystem exchange; GPP, Gross Primary Production; RECO, Ecosystem response) of Jingxin Wetland was monitored by eddy correlation method from August 2021 to March 2024.2022-2023 shows CO2 sinks, absorbing 349.4 g C·m-2·yr-1 annually. The correlation analysis showed that Ta, VPD and PPFD were the main environmental factors affecting CO2 flux in Jingxin wetland.

It consists of five ramp-edge junctions with a stacked groundplane and is based on single-flux-quantum (SFQ) operations. The sampler was used to measure current waveforms at picosecond and microampere resolutions. We are developing a system based on the sampler for measuring the current waveform in a room-temperature sample. And measuring current flowing through wiring in a semiconductor large-scale integrated circuit is a promising application for the HTS sampler system.
