Modular multilevel converter (MMC)-based high-voltage direct current (HVDC) presents attractive technical advantages and contributes to enhanced system operation and reduced oscillation damping in dynamic MMC-HVDC systems. We propose an advanced small-signal multi-terminal MMC-HVDC based on dynamic phasors and state space for power system stability analysis to enhance computational accuracy and reduce simulation time. In accordance with active and passive network control strategies for multi-terminal MMC-HVDC, the matchable small-signal stability models containing high harmonics and dynamics of internal variables are conducted, and a related theoretical derivation is carried out. The proposed advanced small-signal model is then compared with electromagnetic-transient and traditional small-signal state-space models by adopting a typical multi-terminal MMC-HVDC network with offshore wind generation. Simulation indicates that the advanced small-signal model can successfully follow the electromechanical transient response with small errors and can predict the damped oscillations. The validity and applicability of the proposed model are effectively confirmed.

It is very important to improve the overall efficiency of systems with a source of power that has low-voltage high-current terminal characteristics such as fuel cells. A resonant converter is required for high efficiency systems. However, the peak value of the switches current is large in a resonant converter. This peak current requires a large number of switches and results in system failures. In this paper, an analysis and experiments of a resonant isolation push-pull converter are performed. A switching loss analysis is performed in order to compare losses between a resonant push pull converter and a hard switching push-pull converter. Specially, the conduction loss is studied based on the ratio between the resonant frequency and the switching frequency. In addition, a method for improving the efficiency is implemented with conventional HF insolation converters.
SiC MOSFETs have been used to improve system efficiency in high frequency converters due to their extremely high switching speed. However, this can result in undesirable parasitic oscillations in practical systems. In this paper, models of the key components are introduced first. Then, theoretical formulas are derived to calculate the switching oscillation frequencies after full turn-on and turn-off in clamped inductive circuits. Analysis indicates that the turn-on oscillation frequency depends on the power loop parasitic inductance and parasitic capacitances of the freewheeling diode and load inductor. On the other hand, the turn-off oscillation frequency is found to be determined by the output parasitic capacitance of the SiC MOSFET and power loop parasitic inductance. Moreover, the shifting regularity of the turn-off maximum peak voltage with a varying switching speed is investigated on the basis of time domain simulation. The distortion of the turn-on current is theoretically analyzed. Finally, experimental results verifying the above calculations and analyses are presented.
A split-capacitor (SC) dual-active-bridge (DAB) converter is proposed in this study. The DC-link capacitors of input and output are split in the proposed converter. The primary and secondary windings of transformer are connected to the midpoints of the DC-links. Hence, the SC DAB converter can inherently prevent transformer from saturation. Although the switch current stress of the proposed converter is twice that of the conventional DAB converter, the switch voltage stress is reduced by half. Therefore, the proposed converter can reduce switching loss and achieve high efficiency in a high switching frequency. Given the SC structure, the proposed converter can readily be connected to neutral-point-clamped- or half-bridge-type converters. The topology of the proposed converter is presented and the operating principle is analyzed in detail. A 3-kW hardware prototype was built and tested to verify the performance of the proposed converter.
A solid state transformer (SST) that can interface an MVAC of three-phase 13.2 kV and a 1.5 kV DC distribution. SST consists of an AC/DC converter and a DC/DC converter with a high-frequency isolation transformer (HFIT). The AC/DC converter consists of cascaded NPC full-bridge to cope with the MVAC. The DC/DC converter applies a quad active bridge (QAB) topology to reduce the number of the HFIT. Topology analysis and controller design for this specific structure are discussed. In addition, the insulation of HFIT used in DC/DC converters is considered. The discussion is validated using a 300 kVA three-phase SST prototype.

because the output of solar cell is direct, it is necessary to install D/A converter system for A.C load, and in case of driving utility line system, it is possible to drive system relation when the system supplies sinusodal current ant voltage having unit power factor. As the characteristics of the soar cell output the is influenced by dailysunight charge, for more electric power it is essential to control the direction toward the san so that the driving point of solar cell can always operate near maximum output point. PWM modulation device among electric power converters must have stable modulation at anytime when it includes noise-factors such as noise-wave and noises on electric voltage wave, a synchronous signal system. In dealing with synchronous signal for control and control signal by microprocessor, it is necessary to compensate it because there is time difference between sample paint and carrier wave. On this papers, single phase PWM current type invertor controled the solar cell having typical voltage dropping character has optimun short current in short, reduces D.C reactance, composes controller for modulation and keeps lower harmonic and high power factor keeping maximum output of solar cell according daily sunlight charge variation.

This paper proposes a confronting feedback control structure and controllers for positive output elementary super lift Luo converters (POESLLCs) working in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM). The POESLLC offers the merits like high voltage transfer gain, good efficiency, and minimized coil current and capacitor voltage ripples. The POESLLC working in DCM holds the value of not having right half pole zero (RHPZ) in their control to output transfer function unlike continuous conduction mode (CCM). Also the DCM bestows superlative dynamic response, eliminates the reverse recovery troubles of diode and retains the stability. The proposed control structure involves two controllers respectively to control the voltage (outer) loop and the current (inner) loop to confront the time-varying ON/OFF characteristics of variable structured systems (VSSs) like POESLLC. This study involves two different combination of feedback controllers viz. the proportional integral controller (PIC) plus sliding mode controller (SMC) and the fuzzy logic controller (FLC) plus SMC. The state space averaging modeling of POESLLC in DCM is reviewed first, then design of PIC, FLC and SMC are detailed. The performance of developed controller combinations is studied at different working states of the POESLLC system by MATLAB-Simulink implementation. Further the experimental corroboration is done through implementation of the developed controllers in PIC 16F877A processor. The prototype uses IRF250 MOSFET, IR2110 driver and UF5408 diodes. The results reassured the proficiency of designed FLC plus SMC combination over its counterpart PIC plus SMC.
The Differential Power Processing (DPP) converter is a promising multi-module photovoltaic inverter architecture recently proposed for photovoltaic systems. In this paper, a DPP converter architecture, in which each PV-panel has its own DPP converter in shunt, performs distributed maximum power point tracking (DMPPT) control. It maintains a high energy conversion efficiency, even under partial shading conditions. The system architecture only deals with the power differences among the PV panels, which reduces the power capacity of the converters. Therefore, the DPP systems can easily overcome the conventional disadvantages of PCS such as centralized, string, and module integrated converter (MIC) topologies. Among the various types of the DPP systems, the feed-forward method has been selected for both its voltage balancing and power transfer to a modified H-bridge inverter that needs charge balancing of the input capacitors. The modified H-bridge multi-level inverter had some advantages such as a low part count and cost competitiveness when compared to conventional multi-level inverters. Therefore, it is frequently used in photovoltaic (PV) power conditioning system (PCS). However, its simplified switching network draws input current asymmetrically. Therefore, input capacitors in series suffer from a problem due to a charge imbalance. This paper validates the operating principle and feasibility of the proposed topology through the simulation and experimental results. They show that the input-capacitor voltages maintain the voltage balance with the PV MPPT control operating with a 140-W hardware prototype.
