  • Various morphologies of copper oxide (CuO) have been considered to be of both fundamental and practical importance in the field of electronic materials. In this study, using Cu ($0.1{\mu}m$ and $7{\mu}m$) particles, flake-type CuO particles were grown via a wet oxidation method for 5min and 60min at $75^{\circ}C$. Using the prepared CuO, AlN, and silicone base as reagents, thermal interface material (TIM) compounds were synthesized using a high speed paste mixer. The properties of the thermal compounds prepared using the CuO particles were observed by thermal conductivity and breakdown voltage measurement. Most importantly, the volume of thermal compounds created using CuO particles grown from $0.1{\mu}m$ Cu particles increased by 192.5 % and 125 % depending on the growth time. The composition of CuO was confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis; cross sections of the grown CuO particles were observed using focused ion beam (FIB), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), and energy dispersive analysis by X-ray (EDAX). In addition, the thermal compound dispersion of the Cu and Al elements were observed by X-ray elemental mapping.

  • During extruder processing to manufacture cellulose fiber and film using cellulose-NMMO pre-dope produced by a new method, it seems to occur the changes of molecular weight and ${\alpha}$-cellulose content of cellulose upon thermal and mechanical degradation. In an extruder making cellulose solutions from the pre-dope obtained by high-speed mixer, the changes of cellulose molecular weight and ${\alpha}$-cellulose content resulted with the variations of processing temperature, concentration of cellulose, and residence time. The molecular weight and ${\alpha}$-cellulose content of cellulose decreased with decreasing cellulose concentration and increasing processing temperature. At 15% concentration and short residence time region, the change of ${\alpha}$-cellulose content was so high due to high-shear with an increase in temperature. From these processing conditions, the variations of ${\alpha}$-cellulose content and molecular weight showed different behaviors, and these processing conditions for making cellulose solution were found to be important factors.

  • In the parer, we design a non-coherent UWB system by adopting the architecture of a simplified asynchronous transmission and the edge-triggered pulse transmission, which makes e system performance independent of the share of the transmitted waveform, robust to multipath channels. The designed non-coherent UWB transceiver architecture has an advantage of the simple realization since any mixer, high-speed correlator, and high-sampling A/D converter are not necessary at the cost of performance degradation of about 3dB. Further, the designed non-coherent UWB transceiver is actually implemented with the wireless CANVAS prototype testbed in short range indoor application environments such as a lecture room. The implemented prototype testbed is proven to offer the data rate of 115kbps on the conditions of Peer-to-Peer(P-to-P) in the indoor channel within the range of about 10m.

  • This study is concerned with the stability of liquid crystal forming emulsifier with localized depend on change of pH using liquid crystal forming agent of advanced company. The liquid crystal emulsifying agent was localized using Sugar Crystal-LC (bio-tech Co., Ltd., Korea), and comparative samples were measured by using Nikkomulese-LC (Nikko Camicarls, Japan) and Alacel-LC (Croda Camicarls, UK). Liquid crystal formation was confirmed microscopically to show the formation of liquid crystal structure at acidic (pH=4.2), neutral (pH=7.0) and alkaline (pH=11.7). The particles of the liquid crystal were observed with a polarizing microscope according to the stirring speed. The stirring time was all the same for 3 minutes with a homo-mixer, and the stirring speed was increased to 2500 rpm, 3500 rpm and 4500 rpm to observe the liquid crystal state. As a result, it was found that the Korean surfactant was more stable and clear liquid crystal structure was formed than the two foreign acids. In the case of the UK in acid zone, the emulsion particle size was uniform and unstable. In the case of Japanese surfactant, it has similar structure and performance to those of localized Korean. It was found that Korean surfactant had superior emulsifying performance in acid zone compared with foreign products. It is possible to develop various formulations such as liquid crystal cream, lotion, eye cream, etc. using Sugar Crystal-LC emulsifier as an application cosmetic field, and it is expected that it can be widely applied as emulsifying technology for skin care external application in the pharmaceutical industry and the pharmaceutical industry as well as the cosmetics industry.

  • Heat insulation plates of fumed silica were prepared by mixing fumed silica, SiC powder and chopped glass fiber by a high speed mixer followed by pressing of the mixture powder in a stainless steel mold of $100{\times}100mm$. Composition of the plates, particle size of SiC, and type of inorganic binder were varied for observation of their contribution to heat insulation of the plate. The plate was installed on the upper portion of an electric furnace the inside temperature of which was maintained at $400^{\circ}C$ and $600^{\circ}C$, for investigation of heat transfer through the plate from inside of the electric furnace to outside atmosphere. Surface temperatures were measured in real time using a thermographic camera. The particle size of SiC was varied in the range of $1.3{\sim}17.5{\mu}m$ and the insulation was found to be most excellent when SiC of $2.2{\mu}m$ was incorporated. When the size of SiC was smaller or larger than $2.2{\mu}m$, the heat insulation effect was decreased. Inorganic binders of alkali silicate and phosphate were tested and the phosphate was found to maintain the heat insulation property while increasing mechanical properties.

  • In this paper, we fabricated along distance wireless communication transmitter and receiver over the 100 which used NRD technology. To make the transmitter and receiver of 400Hz band using the non radiative dielectric wave guide, transmitter was composed of gm oscillator, m modulator and antenna, receiver was composed of local gum oscillator, balanced mixer, 3dB direction coupler and antenna. Also we executed a wireless communication image transmission examination to the transmitter and receiver. We receive the image information in real-time data transmission from receiver after we send the image signal in the wireless distance of the 10km. Therefore, the 400Hz band U transmitter and receiver to be developed will be used widely for the transmission system CATV or broadband transmission system. This will be utilized also to the link device of a long distance high speed wireless communication network.

  • Plasticized cellulose diacetate(CDA) was prepared by homogenizing cellulose diacetate(CDA), triacetin(TA) and epoxidized soybean oil (ESO) in a high-speed mixer, then the CDA mixture was mixed with ramie fiber to produce a green composite material. In DMA analysis, the glass transition temperature of plasticized CDA and the composite was observed at $85\;^{\circ}C\;and\;140\;^{\circ}C$, respectively. A composite reinforced with alkali treated ramie fiber exhibited significantly higher mechanical properties, such as $15\;^{\circ}C$ increase in tensile strength as well as $41\;^{\circ}C$ increase in Young's modulus when compared with commercial polypropylene. In the SEM image analysis, much enhanced adhesion between plasticized CDA and alkali treated ramie fiber (AIRa) was observed.

  • Cellulose diacetate (CDA) was plasticized with triacetine (TA) and epoxidized soybean oil (ESO) in a high speed mixer. Composites of plasticized CDA and zeolite were prepared by a melting process. The $T_g$ value, $106^{\circ}C$ of the plasticized CDA was confirmed by DMA analysis. The $T_g$ value of the CDA with 50% zeolite was $125^{\circ}C$. As the content of zeolite was increased from 10 to 50% the modulus of the composite was increased from 1.7to 3.6 GPa by two times over the plasticized CDA, and its tensile strength was increased to 62 MPa and then decreased down 51 MPa, and its elongation was increased to 10% and then decreased down 3.2%. In the SEM image, the compatibility between CDA and zeolite was observed. Increasing the amount of zeolite in the composites resulted in further enhancement of the $CH_3COOH$ absorption effects.

  • Effect of solvents on physical characteristics and release characteristics of monolithic acetaminophen (APAP) hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (HPMC) matrix granules and tablets were examined. Various types and amounts of solvents were employed for granulation and coating. APAP and other excipients were mixed and were then wet-granulated in a high-speed mixer. The dried granules were then directly compressed and film-coated with low viscosity grade HPMC. As the amount of water increased, the size of granules also increased, showing more spherical and regular shape. However, manufacturing problems such as capping and lamination in tableting occurred when water was used alone as a granulating solvent. The physical properties of HPMC matrix granules were not affected by the batch size. The initial release rate as well as the amount of APAP dissolved had a tendency to decrease as the water level increased. Addition of nonaqueous solvent like ethanol to water resulted in good physical properties of granules. When compared to water/ethanol as a coating solvent, the release rate of film-coated HPMC matrix tablets was more sensitive to the conditions of coating and drying in methylene chloride/ethanol. Most of all, monolithic HPMC matrix tablet when granulated in ethanol/water showed dual release with about $50\%$ drug release immediately within few minutes followed by extended release. It was evident that the type and amount of solvents (mainly water and ethanol) were very important for wet granulation and film-coating of monolithic HPMC matrix tablet, because the plastic deforming and fragmenting properties of material were changed by the different strengths of the different solvents.

  • As modern industries are highly being developed, it is required that mechanical parts have to be manufactured with a high precision. In order to have precise parts, error-free designs have to be done before manufacturing with accuracy. For this intention being fulfilled, a mechanical analysis is essential for design proof. Nowadays, FEM simulation is a popular tool for verifying a machine design. In this paper, an impeller, being utilized in a compressor or an oil mixer as an actuator, is studied for an evaluation. The purpose of this study is to present a safety of an impeller for a proof of its mechanical stability. A static analysis for stress, strain, and deformation within a regular usage is examined. This simulation test shows 357.26×106 Pa for maximum equivalent stress and 0.207mm for total deformation. A fatigue test is carried to provide durability and its result shows that minimum safety factor is 3.2889, which guarantees that it runs without a fatigue failure in 106 cycles. The natural frequencies for the impeller is ranged from 228.09Hz to 1,253.6Hz for the 1st to the 6th mode. Total deformations at these natural frequencies are shown from 6.84mm to 12.631mm. Furthermore, Campbell diagram reveals that a critical speed is not found throughout regular rotational speeds. From the test results for the analysis, this paper concludes that the suggested impeller is proved for its mechanical safety and good to utilize at industries.
