  • This study carried out to evaluate the quality deviation according to Premixed and Non-Premixed cement for normal and high strength concrete using blast furnace slag and fly ash. The results of experiment are founded that concrete using premixed cement have more performance than non-premixed cement at a point of view for the quality deviations both strength and Chloride ion diffusion. Therefore, it is desirable that premixed cement should be used to decrease strength deviation in high strength concrete and durability deviation in normal strength concrete.

  • PURPOSES: This study investigates the mechanical performance of carbon-capturing concrete that mainly contains blast furnace slag. METHODS: The mixture variables were considered; these included Portland cement content, which was varied from 10% to 40% of the blast furnace slag by weight. The specimens were exposed to different conditions such as high $N_2$ and $O_2$ concentrations, laboratory conditions and high $CO_2$ conditions. Mechanical performances, including compressive and flexural strengths and carbon-capturing depth, were evaluated. RESULTS : The slump, air content and unit weight were not affected significantly by the variation in cement content. The strength development when the specimens were exposed to high purity air was slightly greater than that when exposed to high $CO_2$. As the cement content increased the compressive and flexural strength increased but not considerably. The carbon-capturing capacity decreased as the cement content increased. The specimens exposed in the field for 70 days had flexural strength greater than 3 MPa. CONCLUSIONS : The results indicate that cement content is not an important parameter in the development of compressive and flexural strengths. However, the carbon-capturing depth was higher for less cement content. Even after field exposure for 70 days, neither any significant damage on the surface nor any decrease in strength was observed.

  • An experimental investigation on the strength and behavior of High Performance Fiber Reinforced Cement Composite(HPFRCC) column with Polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) fibers under axial load have been carried out. The columns were subjected to monotonic axial compression until failure. The variables in this study are the combination ratio of PVA, and the volumetric ratio of transverse reinforcement. Test results showed that the fibers, when used in PVA2.0, could result in superior composite performance compared to their individual fiber reinforced cement composites.

  • Recently in the construction site is required various performance of mortar to deal with reliability, economy. Especially of environment-friendly, saving resources and high performance of mortar it began to require improvement of performance. Therefore, in this study, a series of tests was designed to develop a using mud flat mortar in view of the high absorption rate of tidal flats, to fix the water cement ratio to 70%. The mixing ratio were 10:0, 9:1, 8:2, 7:3, 6:4, 5:5, 4:6 of fine aggregate and mud flats. Compared the flow value, chloride content, compressive strength, tensile strength, and workability of fine aggregate the substituted mud flat mortar and basic cement mortar, present the basic data on the characteristics and effects of mud flat mortar.

  • In recent years, many studies have been done on the performance of concrete containing glass powder (GP). For the purpose of widespread use of GP in concrete mixes, a knowledge of the performance of such a mixture after a fire is essential for the perspective of structural use. This research work was carried out to evaluate the performance of High Performance Concrete (HPC) made with GP after being exposed to elevated temperature. The studied mixtures include partial replacement of cement by GP with up to 30%. The mechanical performance and structural alterations were assessed after high temperature treatment from 200℃ to 800℃. The mechanical performance was evaluated by testing the specimens to the compressive and tensile strength. In addition, the mass loss and the porosity were measured to notice the structural alterations. Changes in microstructure due to temperature was also investigated by the X-ray diffraction (XRD) and thermal gravimetric analyses (TGA) as well as porosity adsorption tests. The results of the concrete strength tests showed a slight difference in compressive strength and the same tensile strength performance when replacing a part of the cement by GP. However, after high temperature exposition, concrete with GP showed better performance than the reference concrete for temperature below 600℃. But, after heating at 800℃, the strength of the concrete with GP drop slightly more than reference concrete. This is accompanied by an important increase in mass loss and water porosity. After the microstructure analysis, no important changes happened differently for concrete with GP at high temperature except a new calcium silica form appears after the 800℃ heating.

  • By the increasing amount of waste materials, it eventually dumped into the environment and covering a larger area of the landfill which cause several environmental pollution problems. The utilization of Palm Kernal Shell Ash (PKSA) in concrete might bring a great benefit in addressing both environmental and economic issues. This article investigates the effect of PKSA as a partial cement replacement of High Strength Concrete (HSC). Several concrete mixtures were prepared with different PKSA of 0%, 10%, 20%, and 30% replaced by the cement mass. This procedure was replicated twice for the two different target mean strengths of 40 MPa and 50 MPa. The mixtures were prepared to test different fresh and hardened properties of HSC including slump test, the compressive strength of 3, 7, 14, 28, and 90 days, flexural strength of 28-days, drying shrinkage, density measurement, and sorptivity. It was observed 10% PKSA replacement as optimum percentage which reduced the drying shrinkage, sorptivity, and density and improved the late-age compressive strength of concrete.

  • With reent changes in energy sources, infrastructure facilities for energy charging are increasing around living areas. The infrastructure facilities have a slight possibility of explosion, and for this research on protection is needed. In this study, the performance of the reinforcement type is reviewed by examining the destructive properties after applying the impact by the high-velocity projectile to the cement composite to which various reinforcement methods are applied.

  • In the present work appropriate concrete material models have been proposed to predict drying shrinkage and specific creep of High-performance concrete (HPC) using Artificial Neural Network (ANN). The ANN models are trained, tested and validated using 106 different experimental measured set of data collected from different literatures. The developed models consist of 12 input parameters which include quantities of ingredients namely ordinary Portland cement, fly ash, silica fume, ground granulated blast-furnace slag, water, and other aggregate to cement ratio, volume to surface area ratio, compressive strength at age of loading, relative humidity, age of drying commencement and age of concrete. The Feed-forward backpropagation networks with Levenberg-Marquardt training function are chosen for proposed ANN models and same implemented on MATLAB platform. The results shows that the proposed ANN models are more rational as well as computationally more efficient to predict time-dependent properties of drying shrinkage and specific creep of HPC with high level accuracy.

  • Nanoscale materials are of great interest due to their unique optical, electrical and magnetic properties. Due to the recent amazing achievements in nano technology, new materials were developed. But these nano technology is not apply to the construction part in spite of exellent properties of nano size material. The purpose of this study is to apply to nano technology into building materials. To develop the high performance concrete, nano cement particles is prepared by mechanical method. In the results of this study, the nano silica powder increase effect according to increase of the mixing amount, appeared that compressive strength increased but is limit in increment. For the production of high-strength concrete, nano silica powder was suitable the binder ratio from 20$\%$. And, the compressive strength of concrete are especially dependent on the curing temperature.

  • In order to improve the flow performance of high performance concrete, use of high performance water reducing agent and low viscosity type water reducing agent is a study of suitable range of use due to side effects. in this study, we aimed at reducing viscosity and yield value using high performance water reducing agent and low viscosity type water reducing agent, and this was evaluated using a rheometer. as a result of analysis of viscosity and yield value, it was found that the high performance water reducing agent has higher reduction effect than the low viscosity type water reducing agent. however, the larger the viscosity lowering effect is, the lower the usable range is, compared to general high performance water reducing agents, and it was found that sufficient consideration for this judgment of appropriate quantity is necessary.
