The heating load using solar hot water is lower in summer than in the other seasons. This decreased heating load leads to the overheating solar collectors and related components. To prevent overheating of the solar collectors, air cooling and shading shields were used. On the other hand, it requires additional mechanical components, and reduces the system reliability. The geothermal heat dump system to release the high temperature heat (over $150^{\circ}C$) transferred from the heat pipe solar collectors was investigated in the present study. Research on the heat dump to cool the solar collector is rare. Therefore, the present study was carried out to collect possible data of a geothermal heat dump to cool the solar collector. A helical type geothermal heat exchanger was buried at a 1.2m depth. Experimentally and numerically, the geothermal heat dump was investigated in terms of the effects of parameters, such as the quantity of solar radiation, aperture area of the collector and the mass flow rate. A pipe length of 50m on the geothermal heat exchanger was suitable with a 0.33 kg/s flow rate. The water reservoir was a possible co-operation solution linked to the geothermal heat exchanger.
This research and project is going on the Korean government. The objective of project is that developing total energy management solution. So, this paper is going to introduce a proposal that energy total operating system development using spatial information visualization and energy monitoring. It could efficiently operate the building energy wirelessly controling cooling/heating, lighting, air-conditioning and geothermal system. The metering data is collected to total database. The data is linked to BAS gateway, which is connected the device by the standard protocol.

The amount of the heating and cooling energy of water source heat pump using the raw water from the Paldang water intake station is investigated in the study. The Han river water is conveyed in the large-size shallowly buried pipe. Averaged water temperature at the position, 27 km from the Paldang water intake station, is increased by $1.11^{\circ}C$ due to the geothermal energy transfer under the ground, therefore the raw water has more thermal energy than the river water. To estimate of the thermal energy for the raw water, it is assumed that the water source heat pump is used for the heating and cooling ventilation. When $5.0^{\circ}C$ temperature difference energy of the raw water is used in the heat pump system all the year except for the January and February in which $3.0^{\circ}C$ temperature difference energy is used. It is predicted that total 5,766.3 Tcal could be used in the metropolitan area a year, which is about 3.0% of the river water unutilized energy resources.
Ground source heat pump system can achieve high efficiency of performance by utilizing annually constant underground temperature to provide heat source for space heating and cooling. Generally, the depth of constant-temperature zone under the ground depends on surface heat flux and soil properties. The deeper the ground heat exchanger is installed, the higher the heat exchange rate can be acquired. However, in order to optimally design the system, it is necessary to consider both the installation cost and the system performance. In this study, performance analysis of ground source heat pump system according to the depth has been conducted through the case study.

This study compared constant water bath performances of conventional water-cooled refrigerator and electric heater with an air-cooled VRF chiller and electric heater equipped with optimal control algorithm. In heating mode, the air cooled VRF chiller and electric heater combination reduced the set temperature arrival time by an average of 42 minutes, and energy was also reduced by 18%. In cooling mode, the two systems took 70 minutes to reach the set temperature and showed no difference. Energy was reduced by 33.5% with the new system. For constant temperature maintaining experiment, after reaching the set temperature of $15^{\circ}C$, $20^{\circ}C$ and $22^{\circ}C$, temperature deviations were all in the range of $-0.2^{\circ}C$ to $+0.1^{\circ}C$. Energy was reduced by an average of 84.9%. Through this study, possibility of precise temperature control by an air cooled VRF chiller system was confirmed.
Schools are one of favorable public buildings for Renewable Energy(RE) systems due to site conditions and their energy demand profiles(e.g. daytime-based use of hot water and heating/cooling). Although the government encourages schools to be equipped with RE systems, the adoption of RE systems in existing energy supply systems faces technical and financial barriers. For example, when installing a RE-based combination system(RECS) to meet the energy demand at various school scales, identifying cost effective combination of capacities of the RECS is not trivial since it usually requires technically intensive work including detailed simulation and demand/supply analysis with extensive data. This kind of simulation-based approaches is hardly implementable in practice. To address this, a simpler and applicable decision-supporting method is suggested in this study. This paper presents a simplified model in support of decision-making for optimal capacities of RECS within given budget scales and schools sizes. The proposed model was derived from detailed simulation results and statistical data. Using this model, the optimal capacities of RECS can be induced from the number of classes in a school.
Geothermal energy is easy to take advantage of renewable energy stored in the earth and the heat exchanger can be collected through a heat exchange piping system. In this study, have been developed a heat exchange pipe loop system which it could be installed in tunnel segmental linings to collect geothermal energy around the tunnel. The heat exchange pipe loop system incorporated in the tunnel segments circulate fluid to transport with heat from the surrounding ground and the heat can be used for heating and cooling of nearby structures or districts. The segmental lining incorporating heat exchange pipe loop system are called as ELS (Energy Lining Segment). There are a number of examples incorporating a heat exchange pipe loop system in a tunnel lining in Europe. In this study, a field case using Energy Lining Segment in Germany and applications in urban area are thoroughly examined. In addition, a CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) analysis was carried out to investigate heat flow in Energy Lining Segment.

Energy consumption savings in buildings should be reviewed in diverse areas such as air conditioning system and lighting responsible for cooling and heating, and energy management systems such as BAS (Building Automation System) and BEMS (Building Energy Management System) are introduced to improve energy consumption efficiency and to promote economic control of related facilities by integrated management of energy generated and consumption in buildings. The measured building of this study uses regenerative geothermal system. Measured values of heat pump and system COP were 4.7 and 4.2 respectively, and they were found to be higher 11.9% and 23.5% than rated values. As a result of analyzing the air conditioning and lighting energy from the first floor to the fourth floor performing the air conditioning, the second and third floors, which have a high frequency of use, are compared with the first and fourth floors 50% higher energy consumption ratio. On the other hand, the general heat storage system uses the nighttime power of the previous day to store heat and use it the next day. The total number of days of abnormal operation during the summer season is 61 days. The electricity cost corresponding to the abnormal operation is 1,840,641 KRW, and the normal operation using the nighttime power is 1,363,561 KRW, which is difference of 477,080 KRW, 35% increase in cost. We will utilize it as the main data of BEMS through analysis of winter operation characteristics as well as summer operation characteristics.
As $CO_2$ emission with imprudent using fossil fuel, annual mean temperature of earth is increased in every year. Geothermal energy is inexhaustible energy resource to solve this problem. Heat pump performance and heat exchange efficiency of ground loop are important to distribute widely. Thus, this study are performed to increase heat pump performance and heat exchange efficiency of ground loop with dual expansion valves and spacer. As a results, COP of cooling & heating is obtained improvement up to 11.4% using dual expansion valves, and heat exchange efficiency is increased up to 17.5% using spacer. It will be reduced initial installation cost due to increasing heat pump performance and heat exchange efficiency of ground loop.
