중학생의 건강위해 행위 및 관련요인에 대한 진단적 연구 -PRECEDE 모형을 근간으로- (A Diagnostic Study on Middle School Students' Health Hazard Behaviors and Influential Variables - Based on the PRECEDE model-)

  • The middle school students' health hazard behaviors, health education needs, related to health hazard behaviors and life, were investigated on the basis of the PRECEDE model, for the purpose of a diagnostic research on health education. The data for this study were collected from the sample consisted of the middle school in Chongju for two weeks period in December, 2001. In analyzing the data, t-test, one-way ANOVA and $x^2$-test were done by using SPSS 10.1 for window to compare data between the sexes of the students and grades of the students. A Pearson's correlation analysis was carried out to determine the relationships among the diagnostic variables. The Pearson's correlation between health behavior and life satisfaction was .52, which was significant at the level of P<.01. The Pearson's correlation between drug use behavior and mental health was .40, which was significant at the level of P<.01. The relationships between each diagnosis variable suggested by the PRECEDE model had been experimentally proven to be valid, supporting the conceptual framework of the study as appropriate for assessing the students' health and health education needs. The significance of this research is that it has diagnosed the needs of middle school health education by assessment of factors related to health hazard behaviors and meantal health of the students. The research findings suggest an integrated system of school health education to be contrieved to enhance the effectiveness of the education by strengthening the related factors such as parents' interest to improve the health of middle school students.

  • Amyloidosis is a systemic disorder associated with clonal plasma cell dyscrasia. Nephrotic syndrome, congestive heart failure, autonomic and peripheral neuropathy is often associated features in amyloidosis. Early diagnosis is most important because of different prognosis by stage. The diagnosis can be delayed since symptoms of amyloidosis may vary or nonspecific. We describe a patient of myeloma-associated amyloidosis, who showed orthostatic intolerance as the first symptom of the disease.

ICHPPC에 의(依)한 학생(學生)들이 건강문제(健康問題) 분류(分類)에 관(關)한 연구 (A study of Status of Students' Health Problems by ICHPPC Method)

  • This study was conducted for the development of recording system of students' health problems, and for the application of International Classification of Health Problem in Primary Care(ICHPPC) as a tool of morbidity classification in school health care. The data were collected from 12th of September to 24th of September in 1988. The objects were composed of health problems written by 10 school nurses who take service in the elementary school. The results were as follows: 1. The features of students' health problmes. The health problems of students were 68 problems from the total numbers of 361 codes of ICHPPC. The 93.4% of health problems was contained in 20 descriptive diagnoses and 97.0% was contained in 30 descriptive diagnoses. According to frequency of main health problems, There were abrasion, scratch and blister(26.7%); disorder of stomach function, other disease of stomach and duodenum (20.4%); headache(10.6%); bruise and contusion (5.3%); acute URI (5.0%); laceration and open wound(4.6%); Insect bite and sting(4.0%); epistaxis(3.4%): abdominal pain(2.6%): superficial tissue(1.7%). Out of all health problems, Category 17(accident, injury and poisoning was 44.7%. and Category 9(digestive system Disease) was 22.2%. 2. Applicability of ICHPPC by the school nurses. School nurses used 68 codes, among the total number of 361 codes from ICHPPC. According to ICHPPC method, school nurses can classified more diverse health problems systematically and objectively than that in other studies on school nurses activities. ICHPPC was found as a useful and applicable tool of morbidity classification in the practice of school nurses.

여중생의 자기신체평가, 자아존중감, 건강행위간의 관련성 - 서울 일부지역을 중심으로 - (The Relations of Self-Body Evaluation, Self-Esteem, and Health Behavior of Junior High School Girls - In Partial Areas of Seoul -)

  • Objectives: This study was conducted to examine the relations of 'self-body evaluation', self-esteem, and health behavior among junior high school girls, analysing influencing factors for their health behavior, and building a base for its improvement. Methods: Data collection was conducted by self-report survey. Survey participants were 330 junior high school girl students in the area of Seoul, 221 from women's junior high schools and 109, coed schools. Survey included general characteristics, self-body evaluation, self-esteem, and health behavior. Results: 1. In their self-body evaluation, the students gave themselves $3.27{\pm}.53$ scores of the total 5, and of general characteristics, BMI, ideal BMI, personality, living standard were statistically significant different. 2. The scores for the girl students' health behavior were $2.77{\pm}0.37$ of total 4, and of general characteristics, school forms, grades, living standard were statistically significant different. characteristics, school forms, personality, school grades, living standard were statistically significant different. 3. The girls' self-body evaluation and self-esteem showed a low level of negative significant difference and their self-body evaluation and health behavior were significantly different, but a low level of negative significant difference. And the relationship between self-esteem and health behavior showed a high level of positive significant difference. 4. Influencing factors for the girls' health behavior showed a significant difference in self-esteem and school forms of general characteristics, self-body evaluation, and self-esteem.

양호교사의 교직관이 역할수행에 미치는 영향(影響) (A Study on the Relation of School Nurse's Teaching Profession and Role Performance)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze correlation between the view of teaching profession and the role performance of school nurse. For the achievement of this purpose 188 school nurses in Tae-Gu city and Kyung-Sang Buk-Do are randomly selected in 1992. Major findings of this study were as follows: 1) Role performance of the school nurse showed school health room, health planning, health education, disease control, environment sanitation and management of health organization, in the order named. 2) Degree of school nurse role performance showed 84.7% of the total respondents as highly. 3) Relationship between the view of teaching profession and the role performance was statistically significant correlation. 4) Role performance of school nurse was explained 29.4% by the view of teaching profession (public life, human relation & leading student) of the total variables.

보건교사 배치기준의 변천과정 및 배치정책의 문제 연구 (A Study on the Change in Health Teacher Placement Standards and the Problems in the Placement Policy)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to provide basic data for a more reasonable health teacher placement policy sending teachers to more appropriate sites, by analyzing the change process of the health teacher placement standards and the problems caused by an unreasonable placement policy. Methods: This study mainly analyzed relevant research data and existing studies focusing on a literature analysis. Results: To date, the placement policy for health teachers has changed, going through expansion, reduction, and retrogression, since its establishment. The standard, placing health teachers only in elementary schools with more than 18 classes, was created in 1952. Despite the expansion of the role of health teachers and the revision of the school health law in 2007, this standard has been applied to date without modification. In the meantime, there have been many problems caused by inappropriate placement of health teachers. It was difficult for health teachers in large schools to carry out proper health education; and, in many schools, passive health management, such as first aid, health tests, and student health management, was mainly executed rather than active health management. Students in small schools were not even given an opportunity to receive health education and health management owing to the absence of health teachers. Also, compared to teachers teaching other subjects, health teachers have had very unfair placement standards. Conclusion: The placement policy for health teachers, which has been applied to the present, has never reflected social change, the increase of student health issues, and the demand from the school area. Although the role of health teachers expanded with the execution of health education, the current placement standards for health teachers are very unreasonable. Accordingly, it is necessary to review the health teacher placement policy in a reasonable manner and to revise the standards considering the reality.
