  • This study intends analyzes the experience urbanites need regarding rural amenities when visiting rural areas for leisure. For this purpose, 18 rural amenities that can be experienced at 65 traditional rural villages and are designated by the rural development administration(RDA) were selected. Based on rural amenity selection, a questionnaire survey was conducted in 10 cities with 1,052 urban residents. The cities were divided into 5 metropolitan cities(Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Kwangju and Daejeon) and 5 small cities in each province(Chuncheon, Suwon, Jeonju, Chungju and Pohang). The study results suggest that of the 18 rural amenities, urbanites want greater experience with landscape resources near water and forests, health resources related to food and traditional resources such as traditional architecture and culture. Those amenities not chosen were animals, famous people and agricultural landscapes. In addition, women indicated more experience needs than men. Specifically, women want to experience the rural amenities dealing with tradition and health. In addition, people under 40 want to experience active program related festivals(events) and arts and crafts, whereas the group over 40 prefers a non-active program, such as observing the rural landscape and planting. College graduates want to experience the landscape while college students prefer arts and crafts and festivals(events). Those with below average salaries want to experience the most rural amenities. There were no differences in experience needs between those surveyed in metropolitan cities and those in small cities. Finally, the people who visited rural areas within the last year want to experience water, plants, agricultural landscape, health and rural life resources more than other groups, and there is correlation between plans to visit rural villages and experience needs. The results of this study provide insightful information for rural planning strategies such as selection of the type of marketing segments.

  • Recent advances in Geographic Information Systems and spatial statistical and analytical methods, along with the availability of spatially referenced health and environmental data, have created unique opportunities to investigate spatial associations between environment exposures and health outcomes at multiple spatial scales and resolutions. However, the increased use of spatial data also faces challenges, one of which is to ensure certainty and accuracy of locational data that meets the needs of a study. This article critically reviews the use of spatially referenced data in epidemiologic studies, focusing on the issue of locational uncertainty generated from the process of geocoding health and environmental data. Primarily, major issues involving the use of spatially referenced data are addressed, including completeness and positional accuracy, potential source of bias and exposure misclassification, and implications for epidemiologic studies. The need for critical assessment and caution in designing and conducting spatial epidemiology studies is briefly discussed.

  • Purpose: A user centered web-based mental health management system may be particularly useful in Korea where there is widespread diffusion of personal computers and internet connectivity. The purpose of this paper was to describe the development of a web-based system for mental health management in adolescents using principals of a user centered design. Method: Our design process includes five distinct phases: needs assessment, analysis, design, development/testing/revision, and application release. Results: Web content includes an introduction, information about mental health management in adolescents, self-assessment and guidance, interventions for improving mental health, directory of self-help groups, and counseling and additional community resources. The web site was released using the URL: http://www.baejy.com/youth. Conclusion: The end result was a web based mental health management system for adolescents with a high degree of usability. The author believes that web-based mental health interventions in the future have true potential in helping Koreans who are suffering, or at risk, for mental health problems, particularly because of the stigma related to psychiatric therapy in Korea.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a framework for evaluating security levels in hospitals. We classify security indicators into administrative, technical and physical safeguards. The security evaluation model for hospital information systems was applied to three general hospitals. The analysis of the results showed a low security level in information systems. In particular, requirements for administrative and physical safeguards were very low. Hospitals need strict security policies more than other organizations because their information systems contain patients' highly confidential data. The evaluation model developed in this study can be used for guidelines and as a checklist for hospitals. The security evaluation in hospital informational systems needs to be an essential element of hospital evaluation.

This study measured the degree of the ADL of crippled persons by a modified Barthel Index including 11 items. 73.5% of them were fully independent, 8.5% required minimal help, 2.7% required moderate help, 6.0% required substantial help and 9.4% were unable to perform task. In response to the 11 items of ADL, crippled persons required more help in stair climbing, ambulation and bathing than in other items. 4. In responding to concerning health problems, 10.3% of the subjects replied with incontinence, 8.5% malnutrition, 7.6% fecal incontinence and bedsores 2.6%. Chronic diseases which needs treatment were chronic pain(61.0 %), hypertension(16.5%) and diabetes(16.5%) 5. To the question of what type of rehabilitation services subjects required, chronic diseases management(52.1%) and physical therapy (41.2%) were the highest. • The personalized meal service is being developed to prevent and alleviate illnesses according to the individual's health condition. However, the current meal does not provide a fully customized service to individuals and a diet that meets the consumer's information needs. The cause is the lack of information on the ingredients and the difficulty of comparative analysis between the materials. Therefore, in this study, we propose basic analysis process for basic information acquisition and database construction for food composition before providing personalized food. In this study, we investigated the content of carbohydrate, reducing sugar and protein as basic components of Grifola frondosa and investigate the content of polyphenol as a biological active ingredients. Respectively. Studies on the hypoglycemic effect of the diabetic rat model have been carried out in relation to the prevention of diseases. Based on the results of this study, it is also possible to obtain information on the basic ingredients of the food and to analyze the information on the content and activity of the biological active ingredients. Using animal models, information on disease prevention and mitigation was also available. The process introduced in this study is applied to various food materials, accumulating data, and utilizing Database, this results will be an excellent tool for providing more efficient service by providing a proper dietary composition for consumers.
